Amos 6
1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the renowned of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come.
¡Ay para aquellos que descansan cómodamente en Sión, y para aquellos que confían en la montaña de Samaria, los hombres notables del jefe de las naciones, a quienes acuden los israelitas!
2 Pass unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go to Hamath the great; and go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?
Ve a Calne y vean; y de allí vayan a Hamat, el grande; luego baja a Gat de los filisteos: ¿Son ustedes mejores que estos reinos? ¿O es tu tierra mayor que la de ellos?
3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
Tú, que alejas el día de la maldad, haciendo que se acerque la silla de la violencia;
4 that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves from the midst of the stall;
Que descansan en camas de marfil, tirados en asientos blandos, festejando con corderos del rebaño y becerros del establo;
5 that chant to the sound of the lute, [and] invent them instruments of music, like David;
Hacen canciones tontas al sonido de instrumentos con cuerda, y diseñan para sí mismos instrumentos de música, como David;
6 that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments; but are not grieved for the breach of Joseph.
Bebiendo vino en copas, frotándose con los mejores aceites; pero no tienen pena por la destrucción de José.
7 Therefore shall they now go captive, with the first that go captive, and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.
Así que ahora se irán primero con los que se hacen prisioneros, y él banquete de los que se extienden sobre sus lechos será quitado.
8 The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, I abhor the pride of Jacob, and hate his palaces; and I will deliver up the city with all that is therein.
El Señor Dios ha hecho un juramento por sí mismo, dice el Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos: el orgullo de Jacob me repugna y odio sus grandes casas; así que entregaré la ciudad con todo lo que hay en ella.
9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
Entonces sucederá que si todavía hay diez hombres en una casa, la muerte los alcanzará.
10 And a man's uncle, and he that should burn him, shall take him up to bring out the bones from the house, and shall say unto him that is in the inner parts of the house, Is there yet [any] with thee? and he shall say, None. And he will say, Silence! for we may not make mention of Jehovah's name.
Y cuando él pariente de un hombre, incluso el responsable de quemar su cuerpo, lo levantara para sacar sus huesos de la casa, le dice al que está en el rincón de la casa: ¿Hay alguien todavía? ¿contigo? y él dice: no; entonces él dirá: Cállate, porque el nombre del Señor no puede ser nombrado.
11 For behold, Jehovah commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
Porque he aquí, por orden del Señor, la gran casa estará llena de grietas y la pequeña se hará pedazos.
12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will [men] plough [thereon] with oxen? For ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,
¿Es posible que los caballos corran sobre la roca? ¿Se puede arar con bueyes? porque han convertido el juicio en veneno, y el fruto de la justicia en una planta amarga?
13 — ye that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say, Have we not taken to us power by our own strength?
Ustedes, que se alegran en nada, ¿quién dice: no hemos tomado nosotros mismos los cuernos por nuestra propia fuerza?
14 For behold, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah the God of hosts, I will raise up against you a nation; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hamath unto the torrent of the Arabah.
Porque he aquí, enviaré contra ti una nación, oh Israel, dice el Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos, que los afligirá cruelmente desde el camino hacia Hamat hasta la corriente de la Araba.
