Acts 5
1 But a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
Auch ein Mann, mit Namen Ananias, verkaufte im Einverständnis mit seiner Frau Saphira ein Grundstück.
2 and put aside for himself part of the price, [his] wife also being privy to it; and having brought a certain part, laid it at the feet of the apostles.
Aber mit Wissen seiner Frau unterschlug er etwas von dem Kaufpreis und brachte nur einen Teil davon und legte ihn zu der Apostel Füßen nieder.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled thy heart that thou shouldest lie to the Holy Spirit, and put aside for thyself a part of the price of the estate?
Doch Petrus sprach: "Ananias, warum hat der Satan dein Herz erfüllt, so daß du den Heiligen Geist belogen und einen Teil von dem Erlös deines Feldes zurückbehalten hast?
4 While it remained did it not remain to thee? and sold, was [it not] in thine own power? Why is it that thou hast purposed this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.
Konntest du das Land nicht als dein Eigentum behalten? Und als du es verkauft hattest, konntest du da nicht auch noch über den Erlös nach deinem Willen verfügen? Warum hast du dir denn eine solche Tat in deinem Herzen vorgenommen? Du hast nicht Menschen, sondern Gott belogen."
5 And Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and expired. And great fear came upon all who heard [it].
Beim Hören dieser Worte fiel Ananias tot zu Boden. Und großer Schrecken kam über alle Anwesenden.
6 And the young men, rising up, swathed him up for burial, and having carried him out, buried him.
Die jüngeren Gemeindeglieder aber erhoben sich, umwickelten den Leichnam mit leinenen Tüchern und trugen ihn hinaus zum Begräbnis.
7 And it came to pass about three hours afterwards, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
Nach ungefähr drei Stunden kam des Ananias Frau in die Versammlung, ohne daß sie wußte, was vorgefallen war.
8 And Peter answered her, Tell me if ye gave the estate for so much? And she said, Yes, for so much.
Petrus richtete sogleich das Wort an sie. "Sage mir", so fragte er, "ist dies der Kaufpreis eures Landes?" "Ja", versetzte sie, "das ist der Kaufpreis."
9 And Peter said to her, Why [is it] that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of [the] Lord? Lo, the feet of those that have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and they shall carry thee out.
"Warum", so fuhr nun Petrus fort, "seid ihr denn beide eins geworden, den Geist des Herrn herauszufordern? Die deinen Mann begraben haben, die kommen jetzt gerade zurück, um auch dich hinauszutragen."
10 And she fell down immediately at his feet and expired. And when the young men came in they found her dead; and, having carried her out, they buried her by her husband.
Sofort fiel sie zu seinen Füßen nieder und gab den Geist auf. Die Jünglinge fanden sie bei ihrem Eintritt tot und trugen sie hinaus, um sie bei ihrem Mann zu begraben.
11 And great fear came upon all the assembly, and upon all who heard these things.
Dieser Vorfall erfüllte die ganze Gemeinde und alle, die davon hörten, mit großem Schrecken.
12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders done among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch,
Im Volk geschahen damals viele Zeichen und Wunder durch die Hände der Apostel. Alle Gläubigen pflegten sich einmütig in der Halle Salomos zu versammeln.
13 but of the rest durst no man join them, but the people magnified them;
Von den feindseligen Juden aber wagte keiner, sie zu beunruhigen. Die große Menge jedoch hielt hoch von ihnen.
14 and believers were more than ever added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women; )
Und immer mehr schlossen sich ihnen an, die an den Herrn gläubig wurden, ganze Scharen von Männern und Frauen.
15 so that they brought out the sick into the streets and put [them] on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter, when he came, might overshadow some one of them.
Ja, es kam so weit, daß man die Kranken auf die Straße trug und sie dort auf Betten und Tragbahren niedersetzte, damit, wenn Petrus vorüberkäme, wenigstens sein Schatten auf den einen oder anderen fiele.
16 And the multitude also of the cities round about came together to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons and persons beset by unclean spirits, who were all healed.
Sogar aus den Städten rings um Jerusalem kamen die Leute in Scharen herbei: sie brachten Kranke und solche, die von unreinen Geistern gequält wurden. Und alle diese Leidenden wurden gesund.
17 And the high priest rising up, and all they that were with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees, were filled with wrath,
Das brachte den Hohenpriester auf. Er und sein ganzer Anhang — die Partei der Sadduzäer — ließen neiderfüllt
18 and laid hands on the apostles and put them in the public prison.
die Apostel festnehmen und in das öffentliche Gefängnis werfen.
19 But an angel of [the] Lord during the night opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, said,
Ein Engel des Herrn aber öffnete nachts die Kerkertüren, führte sie hinaus und sprach zu ihnen:
20 Go ye and stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
"Geht in den Tempel und verkündigt dort dem Volk öffentlich alle Worte dieser Lebensbotschaft!"
21 And when they heard it, they entered very early into the temple and taught. And when the high priest was come, and they that were with him, they called together the council and all the elderhood of the sons of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
Diesem Befehl gehorsam gingen sie gegen Morgen in den Tempel und lehrten dort. Mittlerweile versammelten sich der Hohepriester und sein Anhang. Sie beriefen den Hohen Rat und alle Ältesten der Kinder Israels und sandten ins Gefängnis, um die Apostel vorzuführen.
22 And when the officers were come, they did not find them in the prison; and returned and reported
Als aber die Diener hinkamen, fanden sie sie nicht im Gefängnis. Da kehrten sie zurück und meldeten:
23 saying, We found the prison shut with all security, and the keepers standing at the doors; but when we had opened [them], within we found no one.
"Das Gefängnis fanden wir sorgfältig und fest verschlossen und die Wachen vor den Türen stehen; doch als wir öffneten, fanden wir niemand darin."
24 And when they heard these words, both the priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests were in perplexity as to them, what this would come to.
Als der Tempelhauptmann und die Hohenpriester diese Worte hörten, waren sie ganz bestürzt und fragten sich, was daraus werden solle.
25 And some one coming reported to them, Lo, the men whom ye put in the prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.
Da kam einer mit der Meldung: "Die Männer, die ihr habt gefangensetzen lassen, die stehen schon wieder im Tempel und lehren das Volk!"
26 Then the captain, having gone with the officers, brought them, not with violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.
Nun ging der Hauptmann mit der Mannschaft hin und führte sie herbei, doch ohne Anwendung von Gewalt; denn sie fürchteten, das Volk könne sie sonst steinigen.
27 And they bring them and set them in the council. And the high priest asked them,
So brachten sie sie her und führten sie in den Sitzungssaal. Hier nahm sie der Hohepriester ins Verhör.
28 saying, We strictly enjoined you not to teach in this name: and lo, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and purpose to bring upon us the blood of this man.
"Haben wir euch", so sprach er, "nicht aufs allerstrengste verboten, in jenem Namen zu lehren? Und doch habt ihr Jerusalem mit eurer Lehre erfüllt; ja ihr wollt dieses Menschen Blut über uns bringen."
29 But Peter answering, and the apostles, said, God must be obeyed rather than men.
Petrus aber und die anderen Apostel antworteten: "Man muß Gott mehr gehorchen als den Menschen.
30 The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom ye have slain, having hanged on a cross.
Der Gott unserer Väter hat Jesus auferweckt, den ihr ans Kreuzesholz gehängt und hingemordet habt.
31 Him has God exalted by his right hand as leader and saviour, to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.
Den hat Gott durch seine rechte Hand zur Würde eines Herrschers und Befreiers erhoben, um Israel Sinnesänderung und Sündenvergebung zu schenken.
32 And we are [his] witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit also, which God has given to those that obey him.
Dafür sind wir Zeugen und der Heilige Geist, den Gott allen gegeben hat, die ihm gehorchen."
33 But they, when they heard [these things], were cut to the heart, and took counsel to kill them.
Bei dieser Antwort wurden sie mit Wut erfüllt, und sie dachten schon daran, die Apostel zu töten.
34 But a certain [man], a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, held in honour of all the people, rose up in the council, and commanded to put the men out for a short while,
Da erhob sich in der Versammlung ein Pharisäer, mit Namen Gamaliel, ein von dem ganzen Volk verehrter Gesetzeslehrer, und befahl, die Apostel für eine Weile hinauszuführen.
35 and said to them, Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves as regards these men what ye are going to do;
Dann sprach er zu den Männern des Hohen Rates: "Ihr Israeliten, überlegt euch wohl, wie ihr mit diesen Leuten verfahren wollt!
36 for before these days Theudas rose up, alleging himself to be somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, were joined; who was slain, and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed and came to nothing.
Einst hat sich Theudas erhoben. Der wollte eine Rolle spielen, und an vierhundert Männer sind ihm auch gefolgt. Aber er fand den Tod, und alle seine Anhänger wurden auseinandergetrieben und vernichtet.
37 After him rose Judas the Galilean in the days of the census, and drew away [a number of] people after him; and he perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.
Nach ihm trat zur Zeit der bekannten Schätzung der Galiläer Judas auf und zog viele Leute an sich. Auch der ist umgekommen, und alle seine Anhänger haben sich zerstreut.
38 And now I say to you, Withdraw from these men and let them alone, for if this counsel or this work have its origin from men, it will be destroyed;
Nun rate ich euch: Laßt diese Leute in Ruhe und bekümmert euch nicht um sie! Denn stammt dies Beginnen oder dieses Werk von Menschen, so geht es von selbst zugrunde.
39 but if it be from God, ye will not be able to put them down, lest ye be found also fighters against God.
Ist's aber wirklich aus Gott, so könnt ihr diese Leute nicht zum Schweigen bringen. Ja, ihr kommt noch in Gefahr, gegen Gott zu kämpfen."
40 And they listened to his advice; and having called the apostles, they beat them, and enjoined them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and dismissed them.
Diesem Rat folgten sie. Sie riefen die Apostel wieder herein, ließen sie geißeln und verboten ihnen, im Namen Jesu zu reden. Dann durften die Apostel gehen.
41 They therefore went their way from [the] presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonoured for the name.
Sie verließen aber den Hohen Rat voller Freude, weil sie gewürdigt worden waren, um des Namens willen Schmach zu leiden.
42 And every day, in the temple and in the houses, they ceased not teaching and announcing the glad tidings that Jesus [was] the Christ.
Im Tempel sowohl wie in häuslichen Versammlungen lehrten sie unaufhörlich Tag für Tag und verkündigten die Frohe Botschaft, daß Jesus der Messias sei.
