< Acts 26 >
1 And Agrippa said to Paul, It is permitted thee to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretching out his hand answered in his defence:
Eka Agripa nowachone Paulo niya, “In thuolo mondo iwuo kuomi iwuon.” Eka Paulo notingʼo bade malo bangʼe ochako wuoyo kowacho niya,
2 I count myself happy, king Agrippa, in having to answer to-day before thee concerning all of which I am accused by the Jews,
“Akwanora kaka ngʼat mogwedhi, Ruoth Agripa, kuom yudo thuolo mar chungʼ e nyimi kawuono, mondo awuo kuom weche duto ma jo-Yahudi osedonjonago.
3 especially because thou art acquainted with all the customs and questions which are among the Jews; wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.
Moloyo mano, amor, nikech in ngʼat molony e chike jo-Yahudi duto kod mbakagi ma ok rum, kendo makelo miero. Kuom mano, akwayi mondo iyie iwinj wechena gi ngʼwono, ma ok ijok.
4 My manner of life then from my youth, which from its commencement was passed among my nation in Jerusalem, know all the Jews,
“Jo-Yahudi duto ongʼeyo ngimana kaka chalo nyaka aa e nyathi; bende gingʼeyo nyaka aa chakruok kaka ngimana osebet e pinywa kendo e Jerusalem.
5 who knew me before from the outset [of my life], if they would bear witness, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
Gisebedo ka gingʼeya kuom higni mangʼeny, kendo ginyalo timo nenda, ka gihero, ni kaluwore gi chike ma tiendgi tek mag ogandawa, naluwo kit jo-Farisai.
6 And now I stand to be judged because of the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers,
To koro sani iyala nikech geno ma an-go kuom singruok mane Nyasaye otimo ne kwerewa.
7 to which our whole twelve tribes serving incessantly day and night hope to arrive; about which hope, O king, I am accused of [the] Jews.
Mano e singruok ma dhoutwa apar gariyo geno mondo one kochopo kare, ka gisiko gitiyo ni Nyasaye odiechiengʼ gotieno. To koro ruoth Agripa, en mana wach genoni, emomiyo jo-Yahudi kwana kaka jaketho.
8 Why should it be judged a thing incredible in your sight if God raises the dead?
Ere gima omiyo, un jo-Yahudi, ok unyal yie ni Nyasaye chiero joma otho?
9 I indeed myself thought that I ought to do much against the name of Jesus the Nazaraean.
“Kata mana an awuon naketo chunya mar timo duto manyalo mondo akwed nying Yesu ja-Nazareth.
10 Which also I did in Jerusalem, and myself shut up in prisons many of the saints, having received the authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death I gave my vote.
Chutho, mano e gima natimo Jerusalem, kuma nayudoe teko koa kuom jodolo madongo, mine atero jomaler mathoth e od twech; kendo kane inegogi, to nagoyo ombucha, ka ayie gi nekgi.
11 And often punishing them in all the synagogues, I compelled them to blaspheme. And, being exceedingly furious against them, I persecuted them even to cities out [of our own land].
Kuom kinde mangʼeny ne adhi e sinagogi ka sinagogi mondo akawgi akumgi, kendo natemo chunogi mondo giyany Nyasaye. Nikech chunya ne rach kodgi ni nyaka atiekgi, ne adhi nyaka e mier ma oko mondo asandgi.
12 And when, [engaged] in this, I was journeying to Damascus, with authority and power from the chief priests,
“Chiengʼ moro achiel kane adhi Damaski, ne an gi teko kod wach moa kuom jodolo madongo.
13 at mid-day, on the way, I saw, O king, a light above the brightness of the sun, shining from heaven round about me and those who were journeying with me.
To ruoth Agripa, kane an e yo awuotho kar odiechiengʼ tir, ne aneno ler moa e polo mangʼangʼni moloyo wangʼ chiengʼ kendo nomenya kaachiel gi joma ne awuothogo.
14 And, when we were all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [it is] hard for thee to kick against goads.
Ne wapodho piny waduto, eka ne awinjo dwol moro kawuoyo koda gi dho jo-Hibrania ni, ‘Saulo, Saulo, isanda nangʼo? Riwi mabith migweyono biro mana hinyi in iwuon.’
15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
“Eka napenjo ni, ‘In ngʼa, Ruoth?’ “Ruoth to nodwoka ni, ‘An e Yesu misando.
16 but rise up and stand on thy feet; for, for this purpose have I appeared to thee, to appoint thee to be a servant and a witness both of what thou hast seen, and of what I shall appear to thee in,
To koro aa malo ichungʼ gi tiendi. Asefwenyorani mondo awali kaka jatich kendo janeno kuom gik miseneno kuoma kendo kuom gik mamoko ma abiro nyisi.
17 taking thee out from among the people, and the nations, to whom I send thee,
Abiro resi e lwet jou kendo kuom joma ok jo-Yahudi. Aori irgi
18 to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.
mondo iyaw wengegi, kendo mondo ilokgi gia e mudho, giduogi e ler, kendo gia e teko Satan, giduogi ir Nyasaye; ka gitimo kamano eka richogi nowenegi, kendo gibedi e achiel gi ji duto mosepwodhi, nikech giyie kuoma.’
19 Whereupon, king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision;
“Kuom mano, Ruoth Agripa, ne ok atamora timo kaka fweny moa e polo nonyisa.
20 but have, first to those both in Damascus and Jerusalem, and to all the region of Judaea, and to the nations, announced that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.
Mokwongo ne anyiso joma nodak Damaski kendo joma odak Jerusalem nyaka joma odak Judea duto kaachiel gi joma ok jo-Yahudi ka ayalonegi mondo gilokre giwe richo kendo gidwog ir Nyasaye, mondo ginyis ni giseweyo richo adier gi kit ngimagi.
21 On account of these things the Jews, having seized me in the temple, attempted to lay hands on and destroy me.
Mano e gima nomiyo jo-Yahudi omaka e laru mar hekalu kendo negitemo mondo ginega.
22 Having therefore met with [the] help which is from God, I have stood firm unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying nothing else than those things which both the prophets and Moses have said should happen,
To Nyasaye osekonya e kindego duto, omiyo koro ahulo wechegi machalre, ni ji ajia kod joma ogen. Onge gima awacho mopogore gi mago mane jonabi kod Musa jowacho ni notimre.
23 [namely, ] whether Christ should suffer; whether he first, through resurrection of [the] dead, should announce light both to the people and to the nations.
Negiwacho ni Kristo nyaka sandi, kendo nyaka obed ngʼama okwongo chier oa kuom joma otho, mondo okel ler ni jo-Yahudi kaachiel gi joma ok jo-Yahudi.”
24 And as he answered for his defence with these things, Festus says with a loud voice, Thou art mad, Paul; much learning turns thee to madness.
Kane Paulo dhi nyime gi wuoyo kamano, Festo nokok matek niya, “Wiyi okethore, Paulo! Somo misomo mangʼeny oseloki janeko!”
25 But Paul said, I am not mad, most excellent Festus, but utter words of truth and soberness;
To Paulo nodwoke niya, “Ok an janeko, Ruoth Festo. Gima awacho en adier kendo winjore maber.
26 for the king is informed about these things, to whom also I speak with all freedom. For I am persuaded that of these things nothing is hidden from him; for this was not done in a corner.
Kata Ruoth Agripa ongʼeyo wechegi maler, omiyo anyalo wuoyo kode gi chir. Angʼeyo maonge kiawa ni wechegi duto ok opondone, nikech ok osetimgi lingʼ-lingʼ.
27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
Ruoth Agripa, bende iyie kuom jonabi? Angʼeyo ni iyie kuomgi.”
28 And Agrippa [said] to Paul, In a little thou persuadest me to become a Christian.
Eka Agripa nowacho ni Paulo niya, “Iparo ni e sa machwokni inyalo loka abed ja-Kristo?”
29 And Paul [said], I would to God, both in little and in much, that not only thou, but all who have heard me this day, should become such as I also am, except these bonds.
Paulo nodwoke niya, “Kata obed sa machwok kata malach, to alamo Nyasaye ok mana ne in kende, to nyaka ni ji duto mawinjo wachna kawuono, mondo gichal koda, makmana nyoroche motweyagogi ema kik tweugo un bende.”
30 And the king stood up, and the governor and Bernice, and those who sat with them,
Eka Ruoth Agripa gi Ruoth Festo, nochungʼ kaachiel gi Bernike gi ji duto ma nobet kodgi.
31 and having gone apart, they spoke to one another saying, This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.
Negia e odno, kendo sa mane gidhi negiwuoyo kendgi kagiwacho niya, “Onge gima ngʼatni timo marach mowinjore gi tho kata tere e od twech.”
32 And Agrippa said to Festus, This man might have been let go if he had not appealed to Caesar.
Bangʼe Agripa nowacho ni Festo niya, “Ngʼatni dine wagonyo thuolo ka dine bed ni pok okwayo mondo otere e nyim Kaisar.”
