Acts 11
1 And the apostles and the brethren who were in Judaea heard that the nations also had received the word of God;
Es hörten aber die Apostel und die Brüder in Judäa davon, daß auch die Heiden das Wort Gottes angenommen haben
2 and when Peter went up to Jerusalem, they of the circumcision contended with him,
Als aber Petrus nach Jerusalem hinauf kam, rechteten die aus der Beschneidung mit ihm:
3 saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised and hast eaten with them.
weil er bei unbeschnittenen Männern eingetreten sei und mit ihnen gegessen habe.
4 But Peter began and set forth [the matter] to them in order, saying,
Petrus aber hob an und legte es ihnen der Ordnung nach dar:
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in an ecstasy I saw a vision, a certain vessel descending like a great sheet, let down by four corners out of heaven, and it came even to me:
ich war in der Stadt Joppe im Gebet, und sah in Verzückung ein Gesicht: ein Gerät herunterkommen wie eine große Leinwand, die an den vier Ecken herabgelassen ward vom Himmel, und es kam bis zu mir;
6 on which having fixed mine eyes, I considered, and saw the quadrupeds of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the heaven.
wie ich hineinsah, gewahrte ich die Vierfüßler der Erde, und die wilden Tiere, und die kriechenden, und die Vögel des Himmels.
7 And I heard also a voice saying to me, Rise up, Peter, slay and eat.
Ich hörte aber auch eine Stimme zu mir sagen: stehe auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß.
8 And I said, In no wise, Lord, for common or unclean has never entered into my mouth.
Ich sagte aber: nicht doch, Herr; ist mir doch niemals etwas gemeines oder unreines in den Mund gekommen.
9 And a voice answered the second time out of heaven, What God has cleansed, do not thou make common.
Es antwortete aber zum zweitenmal eine Stimme vom Himmel: was Gott gereinigt, das erkläre du nicht für gemein.
10 And this took place thrice, and again all was drawn up into heaven;
Dies wiederholte sich aber dreimal, und es ward alles wieder hinaufgezogen in den Himmel.
11 and lo, immediately three men were at the house in which I was, sent to me from Caesarea.
Und siehe alsogleich standen drei Männer an dem Hause, darin ich war, abgesandt von Cäsarea zu mir.
12 And the Spirit said to me to go with them, nothing doubting. And there went with me these six brethren also, and we entered into the house of the man,
Der Geist aber hieß mich, mit ihnen gehen ohne Bedenken. Mit mir aber zogen noch diese sechs Brüder, und wir kamen in das Haus des Mannes.
13 and he related to us how he had seen the angel in his house, standing and saying [to him], Send [men] to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter,
Er aber berichtete uns, wie er den Engel gesehen hatte in seinem Hause stehen und sprechen: schicke nach Joppe, und lasse Simon mit dem Beinamen Petrus holen.
14 who shall speak words to thee whereby thou shalt be saved, thou and all thy house.
Der wird Worte zu dir reden, durch welche du Heil erlangen wirst, und dein ganzes Haus.
15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them even as upon us also at the beginning.
Da ich aber anfieng zu reden, fiel der heilige Geist auf sie, ebenso wie auch auf uns im Anfange.
16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John baptised with water, but ye shall be baptised with [the] Holy Spirit.
Ich gedachte aber des Wortes des Herrn, wie er sagte: Johannes hat euch mit Wasser getauft, ihr sollt aber getauft werden mit heiligem Geist.
17 If then God has given them the same gift as also to us when we had believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who indeed was I to be able to forbid God?
Wenn nun Gott ihnen die gleiche Gabe verlieh, wie auch uns, auf den Glauben an den Herrn Jesus Christus hin, wie vermochte ich Gott zu hindern?
18 And when they heard these things they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then indeed God has to the nations also granted repentance to life.
Als sie aber dies hörten, beruhigten sie sich und priesen Gott und sagten: so hat nun Gott auch den Heiden die Buße zum Leben verliehen.
19 They then who had been scattered abroad through the tribulation that took place on the occasion of Stephen, passed through [the country] to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one but to Jews alone.
Die sich zerstreut hatten nun von der Bedrängnis wegen Stephanus her, zogen herum bis nach Phoinike, Kypros und Antiochia, ohne jemanden das Wort zu verkünden außer Juden.
20 But there were certain of them, Cyprians and Cyrenians, who entering into Antioch spoke to the Greeks also, announcing the glad tidings of the Lord Jesus.
Unter ihnen aber waren etliche Kyprier und Kyrenäer, die da kamen nach Antiochia, und redeten dort auch zu den Griechen, und teilten ihnen die Frohe Botschaft mit vom Herrn Jesus.
21 And [the] Lord's hand was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
Und die Hand des Herrn war mit ihnen, und eine große Anzahl wurde gläubig und bekehrte sich zum Herrn.
22 And the report concerning them reached the ears of the assembly which was in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go through as far as Antioch:
Es kam aber das Gerücht von ihnen der Gemeinde in Jerusalem zu Ohren, und man sandte den Barnabas nach Antiochia.
23 who, having arrived and seeing the grace of God, rejoiced, and exhorted all with purpose of heart to abide with the Lord;
Dieser kam, und da er die Gnade Gottes sah, freute er sich, und ermunterte alle mit des Herzens Vorsatz bei dem Herrn auszuharren;
24 for he was a good man and full of [the] Holy Spirit and of faith; and a large crowd [of people] were added to the Lord.
denn er war ein braver Mann, und voll heiligen Geistes und Glaubens. Und es wurde dem Herrn eine ansehnliche Menge gewonnen.
25 And he went away to Tarsus to seek out Saul.
Er zog aber aus nach Tarsus, den Saulus aufzusuchen, und da er ihn gefunden, brachte er ihn nach Antiochia.
26 And having found [him], he brought him to Antioch. And so it was with them that for a whole year they were gathered together in the assembly and taught a large crowd: and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
Dort kamen sie ein volles Jahr in die Versammlung der Gemeinde und lehrten eine ansehnliche Menge, und damals zuerst in Antiochien bekamen die Jünger den Namen Christianer.
27 Now in these days prophets went down from Jerusalem to Antioch;
In diesen Tagen aber kamen von Jerusalem herab Propheten nach Antiochia.
28 and one from among them, by name Agabus, rose up and signified by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine over all the inhabited earth, which also came to pass under Claudius.
Einer von ihnen aber, mit Namen Agabus, stand auf und zeigte durch den Geist, daß eine große Hungersnot für den ganzen Erdkreis bevorstehe, die denn unter Claudius kam.
29 And they determined, according as any one of the disciples was well off, each of them to send to the brethren who dwelt in Judaea, to minister [to them];
Von den Jüngern aber wurde beschlossen, daß jeder von ihnen nach seinem Vermögen den in Judäa wohnenden Brüdern Hilfe schicke,
30 which also they did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
was sie auch thaten, indem sie es durch Barnabas und Saulus Hand an die Aeltesten sandten.
