2 Samuel 1
1 And it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David had returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, that David abode two days in Ziklag.
Após a morte de Saul, quando David voltou do massacre dos amalequitas, e David ficou dois dias em Ziklag,
2 And it came to pass on the third day, that behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his garments rent, and earth upon his head; and as soon as he came to David, he fell to the earth and did obeisance.
no terceiro dia, eis que um homem saiu do acampamento vindo de Saul, com suas roupas rasgadas e terra sobre sua cabeça. Quando chegou a Davi, ele caiu na terra e mostrou respeito.
3 And David said to him, Whence comest thou? And he said to him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
David disse a ele: “De onde você vem?” Ele lhe disse: “Eu escapei do campo de Israel”.
4 And David said to him, What has taken place? I pray thee, tell me. And he said that the people had fled from the battle, and many of the people also had fallen and died, and that Saul and Jonathan his son were dead also.
David disse a ele: “Como foi? Por favor, me diga”. Ele respondeu: “O povo fugiu da batalha, e muitas das pessoas também caíram e estão mortas”. Saul e Jonathan, seu filho, também estão mortos”.
5 And David said to the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?
David disse ao jovem que lhe disse: “Como você sabe que Saul e Jonathan, seu filho, estão mortos”?
6 And the young man that told him said, I happened by chance to be upon mount Gilboa, and behold, Saul leaned on his spear; and behold, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.
O jovem que lhe disse: “Como aconteceu por acaso no Monte Gilboa, eis que Saul estava apoiado em sua lança; e eis que as carruagens e os cavaleiros o seguiam de perto.
7 And he looked behind him, and saw me, and called to me. And I said, Here am I.
Quando ele olhou atrás dele, ele me viu e me chamou. Eu respondi: “Aqui estou eu”.
8 And he said to me, Who art thou? And I said to him, I am an Amalekite.
Ele me disse: 'Quem é você?'. Eu lhe respondi: 'Sou um Amalekite'.
9 He said to me again, Stand, I pray thee, over me, and slay me; for anguish has seized me; for my life is yet whole in me.
Ele me disse: 'Por favor, fique ao meu lado e me mate, pois a angústia se apoderou de mim porque minha vida permanece em mim'.
10 So I stood over him, and put him to death, for I knew that he would not live after his fall; and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither to my lord.
Então eu fiquei ao seu lado e o matei, porque eu tinha certeza de que ele não poderia viver depois de ter caído. Peguei a coroa que estava em sua cabeça e a pulseira que estava em seu braço, e os trouxe aqui para o meu senhor”.
11 Then David took hold of his garments and rent them; and all the men that were with him [did] likewise.
Então David pegou suas roupas e as rasgou; e todos os homens que estavam com ele fizeram o mesmo.
12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of Jehovah, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
Lamentaram, choraram e jejuaram até a noite por Saul e por Jonathan, seu filho, e pelo povo de Iavé, e pela casa de Israel, porque tinham caído à espada.
13 And David said to the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he said, I am the son of an Amalekite stranger.
David disse ao jovem que lhe disse: “De onde você é?” Ele respondeu: “Sou o filho de um estrangeiro, um Amalekite”.
14 And David said to him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thy hand to destroy Jehovah's anointed?
David disse-lhe: “Por que você não teve medo de esticar a mão para destruir o ungido de Javé?
15 Then David called one of the young men and said, Draw near, [and] fall on him. And he smote him that he died.
David chamou um dos jovens e disse: “Aproxime-se, e corte-o!” Ele o atingiu para que ele morresse.
16 And David said to him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth has testified against thee, saying, I have slain Jehovah's anointed.
David disse-lhe: “Seu sangue esteja em sua cabeça, pois sua boca testemunhou contra você, dizendo: 'Eu matei o ungido de Javé'”.
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son;
David lamentou com esta lamentação sobre Saul e sobre Jonathan seu filho
18 and he bade them teach the children of Judah [the song of] the bow. Behold, it is written in the book of Jasher: —
(e ordenou-lhes que ensinassem aos filhos de Judá o canto do arco; eis que está escrito no livro de Jashar):
19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!
“Sua glória, Israel, foi assassinada em seus lugares altos! Como os poderosos caíram!
20 Tell [it] not in Gath, carry not the tidings in the streets of Ashkelon; Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
Não o diga em Gate. Não o publique nas ruas de Ashkelon, para que as filhas dos filisteus não se regozijem, para que as filhas do triunfo incircunciso.
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, no rain upon you, nor fields of heave-offerings! For there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, The shield of Saul, [as] not anointed with oil.
Vocês montanhas de Gilboa, que não haja orvalho ou chuva sobre você, e que não haja campos de ofertas; pois ali o escudo dos poderosos estava contaminado e jogado fora, o escudo de Saul não foi ungido com óleo.
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, The bow of Jonathan turned not back, And the sword of Saul returned not empty.
A partir do sangue dos mortos, da gordura dos poderosos, O arco de Jonathan não voltou atrás. A espada de Saul não voltou vazia.
23 Saul and Jonathan, beloved and pleasant in their lives, Even in their death were not divided; They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
Saul e Jonathan foram adoráveis e agradáveis em suas vidas. Em sua morte, eles não estavam divididos. Eles eram mais rápidos que as águias. Eles eram mais fortes que os leões.
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet with splendour, Who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
Vós, filhas de Israel, chorai por Saul, que o vestiu delicadamente de escarlate, que colocam ornamentos de ouro em suas roupas.
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain upon thy high places.
Como os poderosos caíram no meio da batalha! Jonathan foi assassinado em seus lugares altos.
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant wast thou unto me; Thy love to me was wonderful, passing women's love.
Eu estou angustiado por você, meu irmão Jonathan. Você tem sido muito agradável para mim. Seu amor por mim foi maravilhoso, superando o amor das mulheres.
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the instruments of war perished!
Como os poderosos caíram, e as armas de guerra pereceram”!
