2 Samuel 23
1 Now these are the last words of David: David the son of Jesse saith, And the man who was raised up on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel saith,
Estas son las últimas palabras de David. David el hijo de Isaí dice, el hombre que fue elevado a lo alto dice, el ungido del Dios de Jacob, el dulce salmista de Israel:
2 The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me, And his word was on my tongue.
“El Espíritu de Yahvé habló por mí. Su palabra estaba en mi lengua.
3 The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me, The ruler among men shall be just, Ruling in the fear of God;
El Dios de Israel dijo, la Roca de Israel me habló, El que gobierna a los hombres con rectitud, que gobierna en el temor de Dios,
4 And [he shall be] as the light of the morning, [like] the rising of the sun, A morning without clouds; [When] from the sunshine, after rain, The green grass springeth from the earth.
será como la luz de la mañana cuando sale el sol, una mañana sin nubes, cuando la hierba tierna brota de la tierra, a través de un claro resplandor después de la lluvia”.
5 Although my house be not so before God, Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in every way and sure; For [this is] all my salvation, and every desire, Although he make [it] not to grow.
¿No es así mi casa con Dios? Sin embargo, ha hecho conmigo un pacto eterno, ordenado en todas las cosas, y seguro, porque es toda mi salvación y todo mi deseo. ¿No lo hará crecer?
6 But [the sons] of Belial [are] all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands;
Pero todos los impíos serán como espinas que hay que arrancar, porque no se pueden coger con la mano.
7 And the man that will touch them provideth himself with iron and the staff of a spear; And they shall be utterly burned with fire in [their] place.
El hombre que los toque debe estar armado con hierro y el bastón de una lanza. Serán totalmente quemados con fuego en su lugar”.
8 These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chief of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he [fought] against eight hundred, slain [by him] at one time.
Estos son los nombres de los valientes que tuvo David Josheb Basshebeth, tahchemonita, jefe de los capitanes; se llamaba Adino el eznita, que mató a ochocientos de una vez.
9 And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.
Después de él estaba Eleazar hijo de Dodai, hijo de un ahohita, uno de los tres valientes que estaban con David cuando desafiaron a los filisteos que estaban allí reunidos para la batalla, y los hombres de Israel se habían marchado.
10 He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
Se levantó y golpeó a los filisteos hasta que su mano se cansó, y su mano se congeló a la espada; y Yahvé obró una gran victoria aquel día, y el pueblo volvió tras él sólo para tomar botín.
11 And after him, Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite: the Philistines were gathered into a troop, and there was there a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people had fled before the Philistines;
Después de él fue Samma hijo de Agee, un harareo. Los filisteos se habían reunido en tropa donde había un terreno lleno de lentejas; y el pueblo huyó de los filisteos.
12 and he stood in the midst of the plot and delivered it, and smote the Philistines, and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance.
Pero él se puso en medio de la parcela y la defendió, y mató a los filisteos; y el Señor obtuvo una gran victoria.
13 And three of the thirty chiefs went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam, when the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
Tres de los treinta jefes descendieron y vinieron a David en el tiempo de la cosecha, a la cueva de Adulam; y la tropa de los filisteos estaba acampada en el valle de Refaim.
14 And David was then in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.
David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba entonces en Belén.
15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me to drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate!
David decía con nostalgia: “¡Oh, si alguien me diera de beber agua del pozo de Belén, que está junto a la puerta!”
16 And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; however he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.
Los tres valientes irrumpieron en el ejército de los filisteos y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén que estaba junto a la puerta, la tomaron y se la llevaron a David; pero éste no quiso beber de ella, sino que la derramó a Yahvé.
17 And he said, Be it far from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the blood of the men that went at the risk of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
Él dijo: “¡Lejos de mí, Yahvé, que yo haga esto! ¿No es ésta la sangre de los hombres que arriesgaron su vida para ir?” Por eso no quiso beberla. Los tres hombres poderosos hicieron estas cosas.
18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was the chief of three; and he brandished his spear against three hundred and slew them; and he had a name among the three.
Abisai, hermano de Joab, hijo de Sarvia, era el jefe de los tres. Levantó su lanza contra trescientos y los mató, y tuvo un nombre entre los tres.
19 Was he not most honourable of three? and he was their captain; but he did not attain to the [first] three.
¿No era él el más honrado de los tres? Por eso fue nombrado su capitán. Sin embargo, no fue incluido como uno de los tres.
20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, son of a valiant man, great in exploits, of Kabzeel: he it was that smote two lions of Moab; and he went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.
Benaía, hijo de Joiada, hijo de un valiente de Kabzeel, que había hecho obras poderosas, mató a los dos hijos de Ariel de Moab. También bajó y mató a un león en medio de un pozo en tiempo de nieve.
21 He also smote the Egyptian, an imposing man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
Mató a un egipcio enorme, y el egipcio tenía una lanza en la mano; pero él bajó hacia él con un bastón y arrancó la lanza de la mano del egipcio, y lo mató con su propia lanza.
22 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he had a name among the three mighty men.
Benaía, hijo de Joiada, hizo estas cosas y tuvo un nombre entre los tres valientes.
23 He was honoured above the thirty, but he did not attain to the [first] three. And David set him in his council.
Era más honorable que los treinta, pero no llegó a los tres. David lo puso al frente de su guardia.
24 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
Asael hermano de Joab era uno de los treinta: Elhanan hijo de Dodo de Belén,
25 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
Samma de Harod, Elika de Harod,
26 Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
Helez de Palti, Ira hijo de Ikkesh de Teko,
27 Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
Abiezer de Anatot, Mebunnai de Hushat,
28 Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

29 Heleb the son of Baanah, the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

30 Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

32 Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
