2 Samuel 20
1 And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite; and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, Israel.
Sucedió que estaba allí un malvado, que se llamaba Seba, hijo de Bichri, benjamita, y tocó la trompeta y dijo: “No tenemos parte en David, ni tenemos herencia en el hijo de Isaí. Cada uno a sus tiendas, Israel”.
2 Then all the men of Israel went up from after David, following Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah clave to their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
Así que todos los hombres de Israel dejaron de seguir a David y siguieron a Seba hijo de Bichri; pero los hombres de Judá se unieron a su rey, desde el Jordán hasta Jerusalén.
3 And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women, concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in a house of confinement and maintained them, but did not go in to them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.
David llegó a su casa en Jerusalén, y el rey tomó a las diez mujeres sus concubinas, que había dejado para guardar la casa, y las puso en custodia y les dio sustento, pero no entró en ellas. Así quedaron encerradas hasta el día de su muerte, viviendo en la viudez.
4 And the king said to Amasa, Call me the men of Judah together within three days, and do thou attend here.
Entonces el rey le dijo a Amasa: “Convoca a los hombres de Judá dentro de tres días y que estén aquí presentes”.
5 So Amasa went to call together [the men of] Judah; but he delayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him.
Entonces Amasa fue a convocar a los hombres de Judá, pero se quedó más tiempo del que se le había señalado.
6 And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom. Take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fortified cities and escape our sight.
David dijo a Abisai: “Ahora Seba, hijo de Bichri, nos hará más daño que Absalón. Toma a los siervos de tu señor y persíguelo, no sea que se haga de ciudades fortificadas y se escape de nuestra vista”.
7 And there went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
Los hombres de Joab salieron tras él con los cereteos, los peleteos y todos los hombres fuertes, y salieron de Jerusalén para perseguir a Seba hijo de Bicri.
8 When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came before them. And Joab was girded with his coat, his dress, and upon it was the girdle of the sword which was fastened on his loins in its sheath; and as he went forth it fell out.
Cuando llegaron a la gran piedra que está en Gabaón, Amasa salió a su encuentro. Joab estaba vestido con su ropa de guerra que se había puesto, y sobre ella tenía un fajín con una espada sujeta a su cintura en su vaina; y mientras avanzaba se le cayó.
9 And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou well, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.
Joab dijo a Amasa: “¿Estás bien, hermano mío?” Joab tomó a Amasa por la barba con su mano derecha para besarlo.
10 And Amasa had taken no notice of the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him with it in the belly and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. And Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
Pero Amasa no hizo caso de la espada que estaba en la mano de Joab. Así que lo golpeó con ella en el cuerpo y derramó sus entrañas en el suelo, y no lo volvió a golpear; y murió. Joab y su hermano Abisai persiguieron a Sabá, hijo de Bicri.
11 And one of Joab's young men stood by [Amasa] and said, He that favours Joab, and he that is for David, let him follow Joab.
Uno de los jóvenes de Joab se puso a su lado y dijo: “El que esté a favor de Joab y el que esté a favor de David, que siga a Joab”.
12 Now Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by stood still.
Amasa yacía revolcándose en su sangre en medio del camino. Cuando el hombre vio que todo el pueblo se detenía, sacó a Amasa de la calzada al campo, y echó un manto sobre él al ver que todos los que pasaban por allí se detenían.
13 When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri,
Cuando lo sacaron del camino, todo el pueblo siguió a Joab para perseguir a Seba, hijo de Bicri.
14 who went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth-Maacah, and all the Berim; and they gathered together, and went also after him.
Atravesó todas las tribus de Israel hasta Abel, hasta Bet Maaca y todos los beritas. Se reunieron y también fueron tras él.
15 And they came and besieged him in Abel-Beth-Maacah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it was raised in the trench; and all the people that were with Joab sapped the wall, to throw it down.
Llegaron y lo sitiaron en Abel de Bet Maaca, y levantaron un montículo contra la ciudad, el cual se mantuvo contra la muralla; y todo el pueblo que estaba con Joab golpeó la muralla para derribarla.
16 And a wise woman cried out of the city, Hear, hear: say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.
Entonces una mujer sabia gritó desde la ciudad: “¡Oye, oye! Di a Joab: “Acércate, para que pueda hablar contigo””.
17 And he came near to her; and the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he said, I [am he]. And she said to him, Listen to the words of thy handmaid. And he said, I am listening.
Él se acercó a ella, y la mujer le dijo: “¿Eres Joab?” Él contestó: “Lo soy”. Entonces le dijo: “Escucha las palabras de tu siervo”. Respondió: “Te escucho”.
18 And she spoke saying, They were wont to speak in old time saying, Just inquire in Abel; and so they ended.
Entonces ella habló diciendo: “Antiguamente decían: ‘Seguramente pedirán consejo a Abel’, y así resolvieron un asunto.
19 I am peaceable [and] faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of Jehovah?
Yo estoy entre los pacíficos y fieles de Israel. Ustedes pretenden destruir una ciudad y una madre en Israel. ¿Por qué quieres tragar la herencia de Yahvé?”
20 And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
Joab respondió: “Lejos de mí, lejos de mí, que yo trague o destruya.
21 The matter is not so; but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David: give up him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said to Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
El asunto no es así. Pero un hombre de la región montañosa de Efraín, de nombre Seba, hijo de Bichri, ha levantado su mano contra el rey, incluso contra David. Libéralo, y me iré de la ciudad”. La mujer dijo a Joab: “He aquí que su cabeza te será arrojada por encima del muro”.
22 Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
Entonces la mujer acudió a todo el pueblo en su sabiduría. Cortaron la cabeza de Seba, hijo de Bichri, y la arrojaron a Joab. Este tocó la trompeta, y se dispersaron de la ciudad, cada uno a su tienda. Entonces Joab regresó a Jerusalén ante el rey.
23 And Joab was over all the host of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites;
Joab estaba al frente de todo el ejército de Israel; Benaía, hijo de Joiada, estaba al frente de los cereteos y de los peleteos;
24 and Adoram was over the levy; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
Adoram estaba al frente de los hombres sometidos a trabajos forzados; Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era el registrador;
25 and Sheva was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
Sheva era el escriba; Sadoc y Abiatar eran los sacerdotes;
26 and Ira also, the Jairite, was David's chief ruler.
e Ira, el jairita, era el ministro principal de David.
