2 Samuel 17
1 And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me, I pray, choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David to-night;
Und Achitophel sprach zu Absalom: Laß mich zwölftausend Mann auswählen, und ich will mich aufmachen und hinter dem David nachsetzen diese Nacht,
2 and I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will make him afraid; and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only;
Und komme über ihn, wenn er müde ist und seine Hände erschlafft sind, und scheuche ihn auf; und alles Volk, das bei ihm ist, flieht, und ich schlage den König allein;
3 and I will bring back all the people to thee. The man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: all the people shall be in peace.
Und bringe alles Volk zu dir zurück. Wenn jeder Mann, den du suchst, zurückkehrt, so wird das ganze Volk im Frieden sein.
4 And the saying was right in the eyes of Absalom, and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel.
Und die Sache war recht in den Augen Absaloms und in den Augen aller Ältesten Israels.
5 And Absalom said, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and we will hear also what he says.
Und Absalom sprach: Rufet doch auch Chuschai, den Architer, daß wir auch hören, was in seinem Munde ist.
6 And Hushai came to Absalom, and Absalom spoke to him saying, Ahithophel has spoken after this manner: shall we carry out his word? If not, speak thou.
Und Chuschai kam zu Absalom, und Absalom sprach zu ihm und sagte: Also redet Achitophel, sollen wir tun nach seinem Worte oder nicht? Rede du!
7 And Hushai said to Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel has given this time is not good.
Und Chuschai sprach zu Absalom: Der Rat, den Achitophel diesmal geraten, ist nicht gut.
8 And Hushai said, Thou knowest thy father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are of exasperated spirit, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field; and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
Und Chuschai sprach: Du kennst deinen Vater und seine Männer; denn Helden sind sie und erbitterter Seele sind sie, wie eine Bärin, der man auf dem Felde die Jungen geraubt. Und dein Vater ist ein Mann des Streites und übernachtet nicht bei dem Volke.
9 Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or some such place; and it will come to pass, when some of them fall at the first, whoever heareth it will say, There has been slaughter among the people that follow Absalom,
Siehe, er hat sich jetzt in einer der Gruben oder sonst in einem von den Orten versteckt; und es wird geschehen, daß, sowie einige unter ihnen im Anbeginn fallen, sagt der Hörende, der es hört: Es ist eine Schlacht unter dem Volke, das Absalom nachfolgt, geschehen.
10 and even the valiant man whose heart is as the heart of a lion shall utterly melt; for all Israel knows that thy father is a mighty man, and they that are with him are valiant men.
Und derselbe, auch wenn er ein Sohn der Tapferkeit ist, dessen Herz wie das Herz eines Löwen ist, wird zerschmelzen; denn ganz Israel weiß, daß dein Vater ein Held ist, und daß, die bei ihm sind, Söhne der Tapferkeit sind.
11 But I counsel that all Israel be speedily gathered to thee, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
Darum rate ich: Du lässest ganz Israel zu dir versammeln, von Dan und bis Beer-Scheba, wie der Sand, der am Meere ist, an Menge, und dein Angesicht ziehe in der Mitte.
12 And we shall come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falls on the ground; and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.
Und wir kommen zu ihm an einem der Orte, wo er sich finden läßt, und lassen uns auf ihn nieder, wie der Tau auf den Boden fällt, so daß von ihm und von allen seinen Männern, die bei ihm sind, auch nicht einer übrigbleibt.
13 And if he withdraw into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the torrent, until there be not one small stone found there.
Und sammelt er sie in eine Stadt, so trägt ganz Israel Stricke zur selbigen Stadt, und wir schleppen sie in das Bachtal hinab, bis kein Steinchen mehr von ihr daselbst zu finden ist.
14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. And Jehovah had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, in order that Jehovah might bring evil upon Absalom.
Und Absalom und alle Männer Israels sprachen: Der Rat des Architen, des Chuschai, ist besser, als Achitophels Rat. Jehovah hatte aber beschlossen, den guten Rat Achitophels zunichte zu machen, auf daß Jehovah Böses bringe über Absalom.
15 And Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.
Und Chuschai sprach zu Zadok und zu Abjathar, den Priestern: So und so hat Achitophel dem Absalom und den Ältesten Israels geraten, und so und so habe ich geraten.
16 And now send quickly, and tell David saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.
Und nun sendet in Eile und sagt David an und sprechet: Übernachte diese Nacht nicht in den Blachfeldern der Wüste, sondern gehe hinüber, damit nicht der König und alles Volk, das mit ihm ist, verschlungen werde.
17 And Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by En-rogel; and the maid went and told them; and they went and told king David, for they might not be seen to come into the city.
Und Jonathan und Achimaaz standen bei En-Rogel, und eine Dienstmagd ging und sagte es ihnen an, und sie gingen hin und sagten es dem König David an; denn sie konnten sich nicht sehen lassen; daß sie in die Stadt kämen.
18 But a lad saw them, and told Absalom. Then they went both of them away quickly, and came to the house of a man at Bahurim, who had a well in his court; and they went down there.
Es sah sie aber ein Junge und sagte es Absalom an. Und sie beide gingen eilig und kamen zum Hause eines Mannes in Bachurim. Und der hatte einen Brunnen in seinem Hofe, und sie stiegen da hinab.
19 And the woman took and spread the covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground corn on it; and the thing was not known.
Und das Weib nahm eine Decke und breitete sie aus über die Öffnung des Brunnens und breitete Grütze darüber, so daß die Sache nicht bekannt wurde.
20 And Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, and said, Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, They have gone over the brook of water. And they sought and could not find [them], and returned to Jerusalem.
Und die Knechte Absaloms kamen zu dem Weibe in das Haus und sprachen: Wo ist Achimaaz und Jonathan? Und das Weib sprach zu ihnen: Sie sind über das Wasserbächlein gegangen. Und sie suchten sie und fanden sie nicht, und sie kehrten nach Jerusalem zurück.
21 And it came to pass after they had departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David; and they said to David, Arise and pass quickly over the water; for thus has Ahithophel counselled against you.
Und es geschah, nachdem sie gegangen waren, stiegen sie herauf aus dem Brunnen und gingen hin und sagten es dem König David an und sprachen zu David: Machet euch auf und setzet eilig über die Wasser; denn so und so hat wider euch Achitophel geraten.
22 Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over the Jordan; by the morning light there was not one of them missing that had not gone over the Jordan.
Und David machte sich auf und alles Volk, das mit ihm war, und sie setzten über den Jordan bis an das Morgenlicht, da fehlte auch nicht einer, der nicht über den Jordan gesetzt hätte.
23 And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose and went to his house, to his city, and gave charge to his household, and hanged himself, and he died; and he was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
Achitophel aber sah, daß nicht nach seinem Rate getan ward, und sattelte den Esel und machte sich auf und ging nach seinem Haus in seine Stadt und gebot seinem Haus und erhängte sich. Und er starb und ward in dem Grabe seines Vaters begraben.
24 And David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
Und David kam nach Machanajim, Absalom aber setzte über den Jordan, er und alle Männer Israels mit ihm.
25 And Absalom set Amasa over the host instead of Joab; which Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Jithra the Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah, Joab's mother.
Und den Amasa hatte Absalom an Joabs Stelle über das Heer gesetzt. Und Amasa war der Sohn eines Mannes mit Namen Jithra, eines Israeliten, der zu Abigail, der Tochter Nachaschs, der Schwester Zerujahs, der Mutter Joabs, eingegangen war.
26 And Israel and Absalom encamped in the land of Gilead.
Und Israel und Absalom lagerten im Lande Gilead.
27 And as soon as David came to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
Und es geschah, als David nach Machanajim kam, brachten Schobi, der Sohn des Nachasch aus Rabbah, der Söhne Amons, und Machir, der Sohn Ammiels aus Lo-Dabar, und Barsillai, der Gileaditer aus Rogelim, herbei:
28 brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched [corn], and beans, and lentils, and parched [pulse],
Bettwerk und Becken und Töpfergeschirr und Weizen und Gerste und Mehl und geröstetes Korn und Bohnen und Linsen und Geröstetes,
29 and honey, and cream, and sheep, and cheese of kine to David, and to the people that were with him, to eat; for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty in the wilderness.
Und Honig und Butter und Kleinvieh und Rinderkäse dem David und dem Volke, das bei ihm war, zum Essen; denn sagten sie, das Volk hungert und ist matt und durstig in der Wüste.
