2 Kings 18
1 And it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz, king of Judah, began to reign.
੧ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਏਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਸਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।
2 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Abi, daughter of Zechariah.
੨ਜਦ ਉਹ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਪੱਚੀ ਸਾਲ ਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨੱਤੀ ਸਾਲ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਬਿਯਾਹ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਸੀ।
3 And he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.
੩ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹੋ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਠੀਕ ਸੀ।
4 He removed the high places, and broke the columns, and cut down the Asherahs, and broke in pieces the serpent of brass that Moses had made; for to those days the children of Israel burned incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
੪ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਥੰਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੁੱਕੜੇ-ਟੁੱਕੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਟੁੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਦੇ ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਚਕਨਾ-ਚੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੁਸ਼ਤਾਨ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
5 He trusted in Jehovah the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [among any] that were before him.
੫ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ ਐਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
6 And he clave to Jehovah, and did not turn aside from following him, but kept his commandments, which Jehovah commanded Moses.
੬ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਤੁਰਨੋਂ ਨਾ ਹਟਿਆ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
7 And Jehovah was with him; he prospered whithersoever he went forth. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
੭ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਹ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਮੁੱਖ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
8 He smote the Philistines unto Gazah and its borders, from the watchmen's tower to the fortified city.
੮ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ਼ਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੁਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, [that] Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it.
੯ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਚੌਥੇ ਸਾਲ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਏਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਸੱਤਵਾਂ ਸਾਲ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ਼ਲਮਨਸਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ।
10 And at the end of three years they took it; in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is, the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
੧੦ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ। ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਸਾਲ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਨੌਵਾਂ ਸਾਲ ਸੀ, ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
11 And the king of Assyria carried away Israel to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and by the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes;
੧੧ਸੋ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਲਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਜ਼ਾਨ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਾਬੋਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
12 because they hearkened not to the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded; and they would not hear nor do it.
੧੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦਾ ਉਲੰਘਣ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
13 And in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
੧੩ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੇ ਚੌਧਵੇਂ ਸਾਲ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਨਹੇਰੀਬ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ।
14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have sinned; retire from me: I will bear what thou layest upon me. And the king of Assyria laid upon Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
੧੪ਤਦ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਕੀਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪਾਪ ਹੋਇਆ। ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਜਾ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖੇਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਚੁੱਕਾਂਗਾ। ਸੋ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸੌ ਤੋੜੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਹ ਤੋੜੇ ਸੋਨਾ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਲਈ ਠਹਿਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
15 And Hezekiah gave all the silver that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house.
੧੫ਅਤੇ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
16 At that time Hezekiah stripped the doors of the temple of Jehovah, and the posts that Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave them to the king of Assyria.
੧੬ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਹੈਕਲ ਦੇ ਬੂਹਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਥਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੋਨਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੜ੍ਹਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਲਹਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rab-shakeh from Lachish, with a strong force, against king Hezekiah, to Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the aqueduct of the upper pool, which is on the highway of the fuller's field.
੧੭ਤਾਂ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਤਰਤਾਨ, ਰਬਸਾਰੀਸ ਅਤੇ ਰਬਸ਼ਾਕੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਕੀਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਫੌਜ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੱਲ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਸੋ ਉਹ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਰਲੇ ਤਲਾਬ ਦੀ ਖਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜੋ ਧੋਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ, ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਗਏੇ
18 And they called to the king. Then came forth to them Eliakim the son of Hilkijah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the chronicler.
੧੮ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਯਾਕੀਮ ਜੋ ਮਹਿਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਬਨਾ ਮੁਨੀਮ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਹ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਕੇ ਆਏ।
19 And Rab-shakeh said to them, Say now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
੧੯ਤਾਂ ਰਬਸ਼ਾਕੇਹ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ, ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਇਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰੀਂ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈਂ?
20 Thou sayest — but it is a word of the lips — There is counsel and strength for war. Now on whom dost thou rely, that thou hast revolted against me?
੨੦ਤੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹਨ, ਕਿ ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਜੁਗਤ ਤੇ ਬਲ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵਿਦਰੋਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?
21 Now behold, thou reliest upon the staff of that broken reed, upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it goes into his hand and pierces it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that rely upon him.
੨੧ਹੁਣ ਵੇਖ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕੁਚਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਨੇ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਢਾਸਣਾ ਲਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁੱਭ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਾੜ ਛੱਡੇਗਾ। ਮਿਸਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
22 And if ye say to me, We rely upon Jehovah our God: is it not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
੨੨ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਉਹੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਹਟਾ ਕੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ ਕਰੋ?
23 And now, engage, I pray thee, with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou canst set the riders upon them.
੨੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਕਰ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਘੋੜੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਵਾਰ ਬਿਠਾ ਸਕੇਂ।
24 How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants? And thou reliest upon Egypt for chariots and for horsemen!
੨੪ਫੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਫੇਰ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ? ਜਦ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਵਾਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਿਸਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ?
25 Am I now come up without Jehovah against this place to destroy it? Jehovah said to me, Go up against this land and destroy it.
੨੫ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ? ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇ!
26 And Eliakim the son of Hilkijah, and Shebnah and Joah said to Rab-shakeh, Speak, we pray thee, to thy servants in Syriac, for we understand it, and talk not with us in the Jewish [language] in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
੨੬ਤਦ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਯਾਕੀਮ, ਸ਼ਬਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਆਹ ਨੇ ਰਬਸ਼ਾਕੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਰਾਮੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ।
27 And Rab-shakeh said to them, Is it to thy master and to thee that my master sent me to speak these words? Is it not to the men that sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?
੨੭ਪਰ ਰਬਸ਼ਾਕੇਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਿਸ਼ਟਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂਤਰ ਪੀਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ?
28 And Rab-shakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jewish [language], and spoke and said, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria!
੨੮ਤਦ ਰਬਸ਼ਾਕੇਹ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ!
29 Thus says the king: Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of the [king's] hand.
੨੯ਰਾਜਾ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਧੋਖਾ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇਗਾ।
30 Neither let Hezekiah make you rely upon Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will certainly deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
੩੦ਨਾ ਹੀ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਇਹ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਾਵੇ ਭਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਵੇਗਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah; for thus says the king of Assyria: Make peace with me, and come out to me; and eat every one of his vine and every one of his fig-tree, and drink every one the waters of his own cistern;
੩੧ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਲਾਹ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਓ। ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਖ ਦੀ ਵੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਹੰਜ਼ੀਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਫਲ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਹੌਦ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਵੇਗਾ।
32 until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive-trees and of honey, that ye may live and not die; and hearken not to Hezekiah, when he persuades you, saying, Jehovah will deliver us.
੩੨ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਮੈਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਅਨਾਜ ਤੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਮਧ ਦਾ ਦੇਸ, ਰੋਟੀ ਤੇ ਅੰਗੂਰੀ ਬਾਗ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਸ, ਜ਼ੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਤੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਦਾ ਦੇਸ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਮਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਓ। ਪਰ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਸੁਣਿਓ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਭਰਮਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਵੇਗਾ।
33 Have any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
੩੩ਕੀ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਕਦੀ ਛੁਡਾਇਆ ਹੈ?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath and of Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
੩੪ਹਮਾਥ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਪਾਦ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ? ਸਫ਼ਰਵਇਮ, ਹੇਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ? ਕੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆ?
35 Which are they among all the gods of the countries, who have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
੩੫ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੇਸ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਵੇ?
36 But the people were silent and answered him not a word; for the king's command was, saying, Answer him not.
੩੬ਪਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੁੱਪ ਵੱਟ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਉੱਤਰ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
37 And Eliakim the son of Hilkijah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the chronicler, came to Hezekiah with their garments rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
੩੭ਤਦ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਲਯਾਕੀਮ ਜੋ ਮਹਿਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਸੀ, ਸ਼ਬਨਾ ਮੁਨੀਮ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਾਫ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਹ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਸੀ, ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜ ਕੇ ਹਿਜ਼ਕੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਬਸ਼ਾਕੇਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ।
