1 Samuel 9
1 And there was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjaminite, a mighty man of wealth.
Había un hombre de Benjamín llamado Cis, el hijo de Abiel, el hijo de Zeror, el hijo de Becorat, el hijo de Afía, un Benjamita, Cís un hombre rico y poderoso.
2 And he had a son whose name was Saul, choice and comely; and there was not among the children of Israel a comelier person than he; from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.
Tuvo un hijo llamado Saúl, un joven especialmente guapo; No había nadie que se viera mejor entre los hijos de Israel, era más alto, en estatura nadie le pasaba del hombro de cualquier otro pueblo.
3 And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost; and Kish said to Saul his son, Take, I pray, one of the young men with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.
Ahora, los asnos del padre de Saúl, Cis, se habían ido vagando. Y Cis dijo a su hijo Saúl: Llévate a uno de los criados y levántate y ve en busca de los asnos.
4 And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they found [them] not; and they passed through the land of Shaalim, and they were not there; and they passed through the land of Benjamin, and they found [them] not.
Fueron a través de la región montañosa de Efraín y a través de la tierra de Salisa; pero no vieron ninguna señal de ellos. Luego atravesaron la tierra de Saalim, pero no estaban allí; tierra de los benjamitas, pero no los encontraron.
5 They had come to the land of Zuph when Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come and let us return; lest my father give up the asses, and be anxious about us.
Y cuando llegaron a la tierra de Zuf, Saúl dijo al criado que estaba con él: Ven, regresemos, o mi padre puede dejar de preocuparse por los asnos y preocuparse más por nosotros.
6 And he said to him, Behold now, a man of God is in this city, and the man is held in honour; all that he says comes surely to pass. Let us now go thither: perhaps he will shew us the way that we should go.
Pero el siervo le dijo: Mira, en este pueblo hay un hombre de Dios, que es muy honrado, y todo lo que dice se hace realidad: vamos allá ahora; Puede ser que él nos dé instrucciones sobre nuestro viaje.
7 And Saul said to his servant, But if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and we have no present to give to the man of God: what have we?
Entonces Saúl dijo a su siervo: Pero si vamos, ¿qué le podríamos llevar al hombre? Ya todo nuestro pan se ha terminado, y no tenemos ninguna ofrenda para llevar al hombre de Dios ¿qué vamos a hacer?
8 And the servant answered Saul again and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver; that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.
Pero el siervo respondió: Tengo aquí una cuarta parte de un siclo de plata: Se lo daré al hombre de Dios y él nos dará instrucciones sobre nuestro camino.
9 (In former time in Israel, when a man went to ask counsel of God, he said, Come and let us go to the seer; for he that is now called a Prophet was in former time called a Seer.)
En el pasado, en Israel, cuando un hombre buscaba dirección de Dios, decía: vámonos al Vidente, porque el que ahora se llama Profeta en aquellos días recibió el nombre de Vidente.
10 And Saul said to his servant, Well said: come, let us go. So they went to the city where the man of God was.
Entonces dijo Saúl a su criado: Bien has dicho; ven, vamos allá. Así que fueron al pueblo donde estaba el hombre de Dios.
11 As they went up the ascent to the city, they met maidens going forth to draw water; and they said to them, Is the seer here?
Cuando subían al pueblo, vieron a algunas chicas jóvenes que salían a buscar agua y les preguntaron: ¿Está el vidente aquí?
12 And they answered them and said, He is; behold, he is before thee: make haste now, for he came to-day to the city; for the people have a sacrifice to-day in the high place.
Y ellas dijeron: Él es; de hecho, él está más adelante: ve rápido ahora, porque él ha venido hoy al pueblo, porque la gente está haciendo una ofrenda en el lugar alto hoy:
13 As soon as ye come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people eat not until he has come, because he blesses the sacrifice; afterwards they eat that are invited. And now go up; for this very day shall ye find him.
Cuando entres en la ciudad, lo verás inmediatamente, antes de subir al lugar alto para el banquete. La gente está esperando su bendición antes de comenzar el banquete, y después de eso los invitados participarán en eso. Así que sube ahora y lo verás.
14 And they went up into the city. As they were coming into the midst of the city, behold, Samuel was coming out towards them, to go up to the high place.
Subieron al pueblo y, cuando entraron, Samuel se encontró cara a cara con ellos en su camino hacia el lugar alto.
15 Now Jehovah had apprised Samuel one day before Saul came, saying,
Y el día anterior a la llegada de Saúl, vino la palabra de Dios a Samuel, diciendo:
16 To-morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him prince over my people Israel; and he will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
Mañana a estas horas te enviaré un hombre de la tierra de Benjamín, y sobre él debes poner el aceite santo, haciéndolo gobernar sobre mi pueblo Israel, y él hará que mi pueblo esté a salvo de las manos de los filisteos, porque he visto la pena de mi pueblo, cuyo clamor me ha llegado.
17 And as Samuel saw Saul, Jehovah answered him, Behold the man of whom I spoke to thee! this man shall rule over my people.
Y cuando Samuel vio a Saúl, el Señor le dijo: ¡Este es el hombre de quien te di palabra! El es quien debe gobernar sobre mi pueblo.
18 And Saul drew near to Samuel in the midst of the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's house is.
Entonces Saúl se acercó a Samuel en la entrada de la ciudad y dijo: Saúl se acercó a Samuel y le preguntó “donde es la casa del vidente”.
19 And Samuel answered Saul and said, I am the seer: go up before me to the high place, and ye shall eat with me to-day; and to-morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thy heart.
Entonces Samuel dijo a Saúl: Yo soy el vidente; Sube antes que yo al lugar alto y comeremos juntos; y por la mañana te dejaré ir, después de haberte revelado todos los secretos de tu corazón.
20 And as for the asses that thou didst lose three days ago, set not thy heart on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel [set]? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house?
En cuanto a tus asnos que han estado vagando durante tres días, no los busques, porque han regresado. ¿Y para quién son todas las cosas deseadas en Israel? ¿No son para ti y para la familia de tu padre?
21 And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjaminite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? and why dost thou speak such words to me?
Y Saúl dijo: ¿No soy yo el hombre de Benjamín, la más pequeña de todas las tribus de Israel? ¿Y mi familia la menor de las familias de Benjamín? ¿Por qué entonces me dices estas palabras?
22 And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the chamber, and gave them a place at the head of them that were invited; and they were about thirty persons.
Luego Samuel llevó a Saúl y su criado a la habitación de invitados, y les hizo ocupar el lugar principal entre todos los invitados que estaban allí, unas treinta personas.
23 And Samuel said to the cook, Bring the portion that I gave thee, of which I said to thee, Set it by thee.
Entonces Samuel dijo al cocinero: Dame la porción que te di para que apartaras.
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and what was on it, and set [it] before Saul. And he said, Behold that which has been reserved! set it before thee, eat; for against the set time has it been kept for thee, since I said, I will invite the people. So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
Y el cocinero tomó la pierna con la cola gruesa y la puso delante de Saúl. Y Samuel dijo: Esta es la parte que se ha guardado para ti. Tómala como tu parte de la fiesta; porque se ha guardado para ti hasta que llegó el momento adecuado y hasta que los invitados estuvieron presentes. Así que ese día Saúl comió con Samuel.
25 And they came down from the high place into the city, and he spoke with Saul upon the roof.
Cuando bajaron del lugar alto al pueblo, donde habían preparado una cama para Saúl, se fue a descansar.
26 And they arose early; and when it was about the dawning of the day, Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, Arise, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, into the street.
Y al amanecer, Samuel dijo a Saúl en el techo: Levántate para que sigas tu viaje. Entonces se levantó Saúl, y él y Samuel salieron juntos.
27 As they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Tell the servant to pass on before us (and he passed on), but stand thou still now, that I may cause thee to hear the word of God.
Y en su camino hasta las afueras de la ciudad, Samuel le dijo a Saúl: Dile a tu siervo que siga adelante frente a nosotros, pero tú te quedas aquí para que pueda comunicarte lo que Dios a dicho.
