1 Samuel 9
1 And there was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjaminite, a mighty man of wealth.
১বিন্যামীন গোষ্ঠীর একজন লোক ছিলেন, তাঁর নাম কীশ। তিনি অবীয়েলের ছেলে, ইনি সরোরের ছেলে, ইনি বখোরতের ছেলে, ইনি অফীহের ছেলে। কীশ একজন বিন্যামীনীয় বলবান বীর ছিলেন৷
2 And he had a son whose name was Saul, choice and comely; and there was not among the children of Israel a comelier person than he; from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.
২আর শৌল নামে তাঁর একটি ছেলে ছিল; তিনি যুবক ও দেখতে সুন্দর ছিলেন; ইস্রায়েলীয়দের মধ্যে তাঁর থেকে বেশি সুন্দর আর কোন পুরুষ ছিল না, তিনি অন্য সমস্ত লোকদের থেকে লম্বা ছিলেন, সবাই তাঁর কাঁধ পর্যন্ত ছিল।
3 And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost; and Kish said to Saul his son, Take, I pray, one of the young men with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.
৩একদিন শৌলের বাবা কিসের যে সব গাধী ছিল সেগুলো হারিয়ে গেল, তাতে কীশ তাঁর ছেলে শৌলকে বললেন, “তুমি একজন চাকরকে সঙ্গে নাও, ওঠ ও গাধীগুলো খুঁজতে যাও।”
4 And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they found [them] not; and they passed through the land of Shaalim, and they were not there; and they passed through the land of Benjamin, and they found [them] not.
৪তাতে তিনি ইফ্রয়িমের পাহাড়ী এলাকা দিয়ে ভ্রমণ করে শালিশা এলাকার মধ্য দিয়ে গিয়ে, শালীম প্রদেশ দিয়ে গেলেন, সেখানেও নেই। পরে তিনি বিন্যামীনীয়দের এলাকায় গেলেন, কিন্তু তাঁরা সেখানেও পেলেন না।
5 They had come to the land of Zuph when Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come and let us return; lest my father give up the asses, and be anxious about us.
৫পরে সূফ এলাকায় উপস্থিত হলে শৌল তাঁর সঙ্গী চাকরটিকে বললেন, “চল, আমরা ফিরে যাই; কি জানি আমার বাবা হয়তো গাধীগুলোর চিন্তা বাদ দিয়ে আমাদের জন্য দুশ্চিন্তা করবেন।”
6 And he said to him, Behold now, a man of God is in this city, and the man is held in honour; all that he says comes surely to pass. Let us now go thither: perhaps he will shew us the way that we should go.
৬সে তাঁকে বলল, “দেখুন, এই শহরে ঈশ্বরের একজন লোক আছেন; তিনি খুবই সম্মানীয়; তিনি যা কিছু বলেন, সমস্ত কিছুই সফল হয়; চলুন, আমরা এখন সেখানে যাই; হয়তো তিনি আমাদের সঠিক রাস্তা বলে দিতে পারবেন।”
7 And Saul said to his servant, But if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and we have no present to give to the man of God: what have we?
৭তখন শৌল তাঁর চাকরকে বললেন, “কিন্তু দেখ, যদি আমরা যাই তবে সেই ব্যক্তির কাছে কি নিয়ে যাব? আমাদের থলির মধ্যে যে খাবার ছিল তা তো শেষ হয়ে গেছে; ঈশ্বরের লোকের কাছে নিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য আমাদের কাছে কোন উপহার নেই; আমাদের কাছে কি আছে?”
8 And the servant answered Saul again and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver; that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.
৮তখন উত্তরে সেই চাকরটি শৌলকে বলল, “দেখুন, আমার হাতে শেকলের চার ভাগের একভাগ রূপা আছে; আমি ঈশ্বরের লোককে তাই দেব, আর তিনি আমাদের পথ বলে দেবেন।”
9 (In former time in Israel, when a man went to ask counsel of God, he said, Come and let us go to the seer; for he that is now called a Prophet was in former time called a Seer.)
৯আগেকার দিনের ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে কোনো লোক যদি ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে কোনো বিষয় জানতে চাইত তবে সে যাবার আগে বলত, “চল, আমরা দর্শকের কাছে যাই,” এখন যাঁকে ভাববাদী বলা হয় আগেকার দিনের তাঁকে দর্শক বলা হত।
10 And Saul said to his servant, Well said: come, let us go. So they went to the city where the man of God was.
১০তখন শৌল তাঁর চাকরকে বললেন, “বেশ বলেছ; চল, আমরা যাই।” আর ঈশ্বরের লোক যেখানে ছিলেন সেই শহরে তাঁরা গেলেন।
11 As they went up the ascent to the city, they met maidens going forth to draw water; and they said to them, Is the seer here?
১১যখন তাঁরা নগরের সেই পথ ধরে উঠে যাচ্ছিলেন তখন কয়েকজন যুবতী জল নেবার জন্য বেরিয়ে এসেছিল, তাঁরা তাদের দেখে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “দর্শক কি এখানে আছেন?”
12 And they answered them and said, He is; behold, he is before thee: make haste now, for he came to-day to the city; for the people have a sacrifice to-day in the high place.
১২উত্তরে তারা বলল, “হ্যাঁ, আছেন; আর একটু সামনে এগিয়ে যান; আপনারা তাড়াতাড়ি যান। তিনি আজই শহরে এসেছেন, কারণ ঐ উঁচু স্থানে আজ লোকেদের একটি যজ্ঞ হবে।
13 As soon as ye come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people eat not until he has come, because he blesses the sacrifice; afterwards they eat that are invited. And now go up; for this very day shall ye find him.
১৩আপনারা শহরে ঢুকলেই তাঁর সঙ্গে আপনাদের দেখা হবে, আপনারা দেখবেন তিনি পাহাড়ের উপরে খেতে যাচ্ছেন, কারণ তিনি না যাওয়া পর্যন্ত লোকেরা খাওয়া দাওয়া করবে না, কারণ তিনি যজ্ঞের জিনিসপত্র আশীর্বাদ করেন; তারপর নিমন্ত্রিতেরা খাওয়া দাওয়া করে, তাই আপনারা এখনই উঠে যান, এখনই তাঁর দেখা পাবেন।”
14 And they went up into the city. As they were coming into the midst of the city, behold, Samuel was coming out towards them, to go up to the high place.
১৪তাঁরা শহরের মধ্যে উপস্থিত হয়ে দেখলেন, শমূয়েল উঁচু স্থানে যাবার জন্য বের হয়েছেন ও তাঁদের সামনে উপস্থিত হলেন।
15 Now Jehovah had apprised Samuel one day before Saul came, saying,
১৫আর শৌলের আসবার আগের দিন সদাপ্রভু শমূয়েলের কাছে এই কথা প্রকাশ করেছিলেন,
16 To-morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him prince over my people Israel; and he will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
১৬“আগামী কাল এই দিনের আমি বিন্যামীনের এলাকা থেকে একজন লোককে তোমার কাছে পাঠাব; তুমি আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের রাজা হবার জন্য তুমি তাকে অভিষেক করবে; আর সে পলেষ্টীয়দের হাত থেকে আমার লোকদের উদ্ধার করবে; কারণ আমার লোকদের কান্না আমার কানে এসে পৌঁছেছে তাই আমি তাদের প্রতি মনোযোগ দিয়েছি।”
17 And as Samuel saw Saul, Jehovah answered him, Behold the man of whom I spoke to thee! this man shall rule over my people.
১৭পরে শমূয়েল শৌলকে দেখলে সদাপ্রভু কে বললেন, “দেখ, এই সেই লোক, যার কথা আমি তোমাকে বলেছিলাম, এই আমার লোকদের উপরে কর্তৃত্ব করবে।”
18 And Saul drew near to Samuel in the midst of the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's house is.
১৮তখন শৌল ফটকের মধ্যে শমূয়েলের কাছে গিয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “দর্শকের বাড়িটা কোথায় দয়া করে আমাকে বলে দিন।”
19 And Samuel answered Saul and said, I am the seer: go up before me to the high place, and ye shall eat with me to-day; and to-morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thy heart.
১৯তখন শমূয়েল এর উত্তরে শৌলকে বললেন, “আমিই দর্শক, আমার আগে আগে উঁচু স্থানে যাও, কারণ আজ তোমরা আমার সঙ্গে খাবে; কাল সকালে আমি তোমাকে বিদায় দেব এবং তোমার মনের সমস্ত কথা তোমাকে জানাব।
20 And as for the asses that thou didst lose three days ago, set not thy heart on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel [set]? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house?
২০আজ তিন দিন হল, তোমার যে গাধীগুলো হারিয়ে গেছে, তাদের জন্য চিন্তা কোরো না; সেগুলো পাওয়া গেছে। আর ইস্রায়েল দেশের মধ্যে সমস্ত ভাল ভাল জিনিস কার জন্য? সে সমস্ত কি তোমার আর তোমার বাবার বংশের লোকদের নয়?”
21 And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjaminite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? and why dost thou speak such words to me?
২১এর উত্তরে শৌল বললেন, “আমি কি ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সমস্ত গোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে সবচেয়ে ছোট বিন্যামীনীয় না? আবার বিন্যামীন বংশের মধ্যে আমার বংশ কি সব থেকে ছোট নয়? তবে আপনি কেন আমাকে এই সব কথা বলছেন?”
22 And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the chamber, and gave them a place at the head of them that were invited; and they were about thirty persons.
২২পরে শমূয়েল শৌল ও তাঁর চাকরকে খাবার ঘরে নিয়ে গেলেন এবং প্রায় ত্রিশজন নিমন্ত্রিত লোকদের মধ্যে তাঁদের সবচেয়ে সম্মানিত জায়গায় বসালেন।
23 And Samuel said to the cook, Bring the portion that I gave thee, of which I said to thee, Set it by thee.
২৩পরে শমূয়েল যে লোকটি রান্না করেছে তাকে বললেন, “যে মাংস আলাদা করে রাখবার জন্য তোমাকে দিয়েছিলাম সেটা নিয়ে এস।”
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and what was on it, and set [it] before Saul. And he said, Behold that which has been reserved! set it before thee, eat; for against the set time has it been kept for thee, since I said, I will invite the people. So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
২৪তাতে সে গিয়ে ঊরু আর তার উপরে যা কিছু ছিল, তা এনে শৌলের সামনে রাখল। আর শমূয়েল শৌলকে বললেন, “দেখ এটা রাখা হয়েছিল; তুমি এটা তোমার সামনে রাখ, খাও; কারণ নির্দিষ্ট দিনের র অপেক্ষাতে এটা তোমার জন্য আলাদা করে রাখা হয়েছিল, আমিই বলেছিলাম যে, আমি লোকদের নিমন্ত্রণ করেছি।” তাতে সেই দিন শৌল শমূয়েলের সঙ্গে খাওয়া দাওয়া করলেন।
25 And they came down from the high place into the city, and he spoke with Saul upon the roof.
২৫এর পর তাঁরা সেই উঁচু স্থান থেকে শহরের দিকে নেমে গেলেন, তারপর শমূয়েল তাঁর বাড়ির ছাদে শৌলের সঙ্গে কথাবার্তা বললেন।
26 And they arose early; and when it was about the dawning of the day, Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, Arise, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, into the street.
২৬পরে তাঁরা খুব ভোরে ঘুম থেকে উঠলেন, আলো হলে পর শমূয়েল বাড়ির ছাদের উপর শৌলকে ডেকে বললেন, “ওঠ, আমি তোমাকে এখন বিদায় দেব।” তখন শৌল উঠলেন, আর তিনি ও শমূয়েল দুইজনে বাইরে গেলেন।
27 As they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Tell the servant to pass on before us (and he passed on), but stand thou still now, that I may cause thee to hear the word of God.
২৭পরে তাঁরা নেমে শহরের সীমানা দিয়ে যাচ্ছিলেন, এমন দিন শমূয়েল শৌলকে বললেন, “তোমার চাকরকে এগিয়ে যেতে বল, কিন্তু তুমি কিছুক্ষণের জন্য এখানে দাঁড়াও, আমি তোমাকে ঈশ্বর বাক্য শোনাব।” তাতে তাঁর চাকর এগিয়ে গেল।
