1 Samuel 19
1 And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should slay David.
தாவீதைக் கொலை செய்யுங்கள் என்று சவுல் யோனத்தானுக்கும், தன் எல்லா பணியாட்களுக்கும் சொன்னான். ஆனால் யோனத்தான் தாவீதை அதிகம் விரும்பினான்.
2 But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David. And Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeks to kill thee; and now, I pray thee, take heed to thyself in the morning, and abide in a secret place and hide thyself;
அதனால் யோனத்தான் அவனை எச்சரித்துச் சொன்னதாவது: “எனது தகப்பன் சவுல் உன்னைக் கொலைசெய்யச் சந்தர்ப்பத்தைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். ஆகையால் நாளை காலை எச்சரிக்கையாயிருந்து, இரகசியமான ஒரு இடத்தில் ஒளிந்து மறைந்திரு.
3 and I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and will speak of thee with my father: and see what it is, and tell thee.
நான் வெளியே போய் நீ ஒளிந்திருக்கும் வயல்வெளியில் என் தகப்பனாருடன் உனக்காக பேசுவேன். அதன்பின் நான் அறிந்ததை உனக்குச் சொல்வேன்” என்றான்.
4 And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against thee; for also what he did was very advantageous to thee;
இவ்விதமாய் யோனத்தான் தன் தகப்பன் சவுலிடம் தாவீதைப் பற்றி நன்றாய்ப் பேசி அவனிடம், “அரசன் தமது ஊழியன் தாவீதுக்கு ஒரு தீமையும் செய்யாமல் இருக்கவேண்டும். அவன் உங்களுக்குத் தீமை செய்யவில்லை. அவன் செய்திருப்பது உங்களுக்கு அதிக நன்மையே கொடுத்திருக்கிறது.
5 for he put his life in hand, and smote the Philistine, and Jehovah wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou didst see [it], and didst rejoice; why then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, in slaying David without cause?
அவன் தன் உயிரை கையில் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு பெலிஸ்தியனைக் கொன்றானே. இதனால் யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலருக்குப் பெரிய வெற்றியைக் கொடுத்தார். நீங்களும் அதைக்கண்டு மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தீர்கள். அப்படியிருக்க ஏன் தாவீதைப்போல் குற்றமற்ற ஒருவனைக் காரணமில்லாமல் கொலைசெய்து ஒரு தீமையை செய்யவேண்டும்” என்றான்.
6 And Saul hearkened to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore, [As] Jehovah liveth, he shall not be put to death!
சவுல் யோனத்தான் சொன்னதைக் கேட்டு, “யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில், தாவீதும் கொல்லப்படுவதில்லை என்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்று ஆணையிட்டான்.
7 Then Jonathan called David, and Jonathan declared to him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as previously.
அதன்பின் யோனத்தான் தாவீதை அழைத்து, தான் தனது தகப்பனுடன் பேசிய எல்லாவற்றையும் சொல்லி, அவனைச் சவுலிடம் அழைத்து வந்தான். அவன் முன்போலவே சவுலுடன் இருந்தான்.
8 And there was war again; and David went forth and fought with the Philistines, and smote them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.
மறுபடியும் யுத்தம் மூண்டது. தாவீது போய் பெலிஸ்தியருடன் சண்டையிட்டு அவன் அதிக பெலத்துடன் அவர்களைத் தாக்கினான். அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முன் நிற்காது தப்பி ஓடினார்கள்.
9 And an evil spirit from Jehovah was upon Saul. And he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David played with his hand.
ஒரு நாள் சவுல் தன் வீட்டில் இருந்தபோது, யெகோவாவிடமிருந்து வந்த பொல்லாத ஆவி அவன்மேல் இறங்கியது. அப்பொழுது தாவீது தன் யாழை வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
10 And Saul sought to smite David and the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the spear into the wall. And David fled, and escaped that night.
அவ்வேளையில் சவுல் தன் கையிலிருந்த ஈட்டியால் தாவீதைச் சுவரோடு சேர்த்துக் குத்த முயன்றான். ஆனால் தாவீது விலகிக்கொண்டதால், ஈட்டி சுவரில் பாய்ந்தது. தாவீது அன்றிரவு தப்பி ஓடிவிட்டான்.
11 And Saul sent messengers to David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning; and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to-night, to-morrow thou wilt be put to death.
அதன்பின், சவுல் தாவீதின் வீட்டை நோட்டமிட்டு அவனை மறுநாள் அதிகாலையில் கொலை செய்யும்படி, அவன் வீட்டிற்கு ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான். இதை அறிந்த அவன் மனைவி மீகாள் தாவீதிடம், “இன்றிரவு உமது உயிருக்காகத் தப்பி ஓடாவிட்டால் நாளை நீர் கொல்லப்படுவீர்” என்று எச்சரித்தாள்.
12 And Michal let David down through a window; and he went, and fled and escaped.
எனவே மீகாள் தாவீதை ஜன்னல் வழியாய் இறக்கிவிட அவன் தப்பி ஓடினான்.
13 And Michal took the image, and laid it in the bed, and put the net of goats' [hair] at its head, and covered it with the coverlet.
பின்பு மீகாள் ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தை எடுத்து அவனுடைய கட்டிலின்மேல் வைத்து, ஒரு போர்வையால் மூடி வெள்ளாட்டு மயிரைத் தலைமாட்டில் வைத்தாள்.
14 And Saul sent messengers to take David, and she said, He is sick.
தாவீதைப் பிடித்து வரும்படி சவுல் தன் ஆட்களை அனுப்பியபோது அவன் வியாதியாய் இருப்பதாக மீகாள் சொன்னாள்.
15 And Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may put him to death.
திரும்பவும் தாவீதைப் பார்ப்பதற்காக சவுல் தன் ஆட்களை அனுப்பி, “அவனைக் கொலை செய்யும்படி கட்டிலோடு என்னிடம் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்று சொன்னான்.
16 And the messengers came in, and behold, the image was in the bed, and the net of goats' [hair] at its head.
அந்த மனிதர் அவனுடைய வீட்டுக்குள் வந்தபோது, அவனுடைய கட்டிலின்மேல் ஒரு விக்கிரகமும் அதன் தலையில் ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டு மயிர்த்தோலும் இருப்பதைக் கண்டார்கள்.
17 Then Saul said to Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal said to Saul, He said to me, Let me go; why should I slay thee?
அப்பொழுது சவுல் மீகாளிடம், “என்னை ஏமாற்றி என் பகைவனை ஏன் இப்படி தப்பவைத்தாய்?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு மீகாள், “தாவீது என்னிடம், என்னைத் தப்பிப் போகவிடு. இல்லாவிட்டால் நான் உன்னைக் கொன்றுவிடுவேன் என்று சொன்னான்” என்றாள்.
18 And David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.
இவ்விதமாய்த் தாவீது தப்பி ஓடி ராமாவிலிருந்த சாமுயேலிடம் போய் சவுல் தனக்குச் செய்தவற்றையெல்லாம் சொன்னான். அதன்பின் அவனும் சாமுயேலும் நாயோத்திற்குப் போய் அங்கே தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.
19 And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth by Ramah.
அப்பொழுது தாவீது ராமாவிலுள்ள நாயோதிலே தங்கியிருக்கிறான் என்பதைச் சவுல் கேள்விப்பட்டான்.
20 Then Saul sent messengers to take David; and they saw a company of prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as president over them; and the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
எனவே சவுல் தாவீதைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டுவரும்படி தன் மனிதரை அனுப்பினான். அவர்கள் அங்கே இறைவாக்கு உரைப்போர் கூட்டத்தையும், அவர்களுக்குத் தலைவனாக சாமுயேல் நிற்பதையும் கண்டார்கள். அப்போது சவுலின் ஆட்கள் மேலும் யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் இறங்கினார். அவர்களும் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தார்கள்.
21 And it was told Saul, and he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
இதைப்பற்றிச் சவுலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது வேறு மனிதரை அனுப்பினான். அவர்களும் அவ்வாறே இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தார்கள். மூன்றாம் முறையும் சவுல் மனிதரை அனுப்பினான். அவர்களும் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தார்கள்.
22 Then went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Sechu; and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, at Naioth by Ramah.
இறுதியாகச் சவுல் தானே ராமாவிற்குப் போவதற்கு புறப்பட்டான். அவன் சேக்குவிலுள்ள பெரிய துரவுக்கு வந்தபோது, அங்கு நின்றவர்களிடம், “சாமுயேலும், தாவீதும் எங்கே?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அங்கு நின்றவர்கள், “ராமாவிலுள்ள நாயோதிலே அவர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள்” என்றார்கள்.
23 And he went thither to Naioth by Ramah; and the Spirit of God came upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth by Ramah.
அப்பொழுது சவுல் ராமாவிலுள்ள நாயோதுக்குப் போகும் வழியில் இறைவனின் ஆவியானவர் அவன் மேலும் இறங்கினார். அவன் நாயோதுக்குப் போய்ச் சேரும்வரைக்கும் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்துக்கொண்டே போனான்.
24 And he himself also stripped off his clothes, and prophesied, himself also, before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
சவுல் தன் மேலுடையைக் கழற்றிவிட்டு சாமுயேலுக்கு முன்பாக மற்றவர்களைப்போல் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தான். அன்று பகலும் இரவும் அவ்வாறே விழுந்து கிடந்தான். இதனாலேயே, “சவுலும் இறைவாக்கு உரைப்போரில் ஒருவனோ?” என்று மக்கள் கேட்கும் வழக்கம் உண்டாயிற்று.
