1 Samuel 1
1 And there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.
௧எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்திலிருக்கிற சோப்பீம் என்னப்பட்ட ராமதாயீம் ஊரானாகிய ஒரு மனிதன் இருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு எல்க்கானா என்று பெயர்; அவன் எப்பிராயீமியனாகிய சூப்புக்குப் பிறந்த தோகுவின் மகனான எலிகூவின் மகனான எரோகாமின் மகன்.
2 And he had two wives: the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah; and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
௨அவனுக்கு இரண்டு மனைவிகள் இருந்தார்கள்; ஒருத்தி பெயர் அன்னாள், மற்றவள் பெயர் பெனின்னாள்; பெனின்னாளுக்குப் பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தார்கள்; அன்னாளுக்கோ பிள்ளை இல்லை.
3 And this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to Jehovah of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of Jehovah, were there.
௩அந்த மனிதன் சீலோவிலே சேனைகளின் யெகோவாவை தொழுதுகொள்ளவும் அவருக்குப் பலியிடவும் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் தன்னுடைய ஊரிலிருந்து போய்வருவான்; அங்கே யெகோவாவின் ஆசாரியரான ஏலியின் இரண்டு மகன்களான ஒப்னியும், பினெகாசும் இருந்தார்கள்.
4 And it came to pass on the day that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions;
௪அங்கே எல்க்கானா பலியிடும் நாளிலே அவன் தன்னுடைய மனைவியாகிய பெனின்னாளுக்கும், அவளுடைய எல்லா மகன்களுக்கும் மகள்களுக்கும் பங்குபோட்டுக் கொடுப்பான்.
5 but to Hannah he used to give a double portion, for he loved Hannah; but Jehovah had shut up her womb.
௫அன்னாளை நேசித்ததினால், அவளுக்கு இரண்டு பங்கு கொடுப்பான்; யெகோவாவோ அவள் கர்ப்பத்தை அடைத்திருந்தார்.
6 And her adversary provoked her much also, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb.
௬யெகோவா அன்னாளுடைய கர்ப்பத்தை அடைத்தபடியினால், அவளுடைய சக்களத்தி அவள் துக்கப்படும்படியாக அவளுக்கு மிகவும் எரிச்சலுண்டாக்குவாள்.
7 And [as] he did so year by year, as often as she went up to the house of Jehovah, she provoked her thus; and she wept and did not eat.
௭அவள் யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குப் போகும்போது, அவன் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் அப்படியே செய்வான்; இவள் அன்னாளை மனவேதனைப்படுத்துவாள்; அப்பொழுது அவள் சாப்பிடாமல் அழுதுகொண்டிருப்பாள்.
8 And Elkanah her husband said to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons?
௮அவளுடைய கணவனான எல்க்கானா அவளைப் பார்த்து: அன்னாளே, ஏன் அழுகிறாய்? ஏன் சாப்பிடாதிருக்கிறாய்? ஏன் சஞ்சலப்படுகிறாய்? பத்து மகன்களைவிட நான் உனக்கு மேலானவன் அல்லவா? என்றான்.
9 And Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk; (now Eli the priest sat upon the seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah; )
௯சீலோவிலே அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்தபின்பு, அன்னாள் எழுந்தாள்; ஆசாரியனான ஏலி யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்தின் வாசற்கதவருகில் ஒரு இருக்கையின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்.
10 and she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Jehovah, and wept much.
௧0அவள் போய், மனங்கசந்து, மிகவும் அழுது, யெகோவாவை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்செய்து:
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man child, then I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
௧௧சேனைகளின் யெகோவாவே, தேவரீர் உம்முடைய அடியாளின் சிறுமையைக் கண்ணோக்கிப் பார்த்து, உம்முடைய அடியாளை மறக்காமல் நினைத்தருளி, உமது அடியாளுக்கு ஒரு ஆண்பிள்ளையைக் கொடுத்தால், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கும் எல்லா நாட்களும் நான் அவனைக் யெகோவாவுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன்; அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் சவரகன் கத்தி படுவதில்லை என்று ஒரு பொருத்தனை செய்தாள்.
12 And it came to pass as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth.
௧௨அவள் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக அதிகநேரம் விண்ணப்பம்செய்கிறபோது, ஏலி அவளுடைய வாயைக் கவனித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard; and Eli thought she was drunken.
௧௩அன்னாள் தன்னுடைய இருதயத்திலே பேசினாள்; அவளுடைய உதடுகள்மட்டும் அசைந்தது, அவள் சத்தமோ கேட்கவில்லை; ஆகவே, அவள் குடிவெறியில் இருக்கிறாள் என்று ஏலி நினைத்து,
14 And Eli said to her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
௧௪அவளை நோக்கி: நீ எதுவரைக்கும் குடிவெறியில் இருப்பாய்? உன் குடியை உன்னைவிட்டு விலக்கு என்றான்.
15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before Jehovah.
௧௫அதற்கு அன்னாள் பதிலாக: அப்படியல்ல, என் ஆண்டவனே, நான் மனவேதனையுள்ள பெண்; நான் திராட்சை ரசமோ, மதுவோ குடிக்கவில்லை; நான் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக என்னுடைய இருதயத்தை ஊற்றிவிட்டேன்.
16 Take not thy handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my grief and provocation have I spoken hitherto.
௧௬உம்முடைய அடிமையை துன்மார்க்கத்தின் பெண்ணாக நினைக்கவேண்டாம்; மிகுதியான துன்பத்தினாலும், துயரத்தினாலும் இந்த நேரம்வரை விண்ணப்பம்செய்தேன் என்றாள்.
17 And Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition which thou hast asked of him.
௧௭அதற்கு ஏலி சமாதானத்துடன் போ; நீ இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனிடத்தில் கேட்ட உன் விண்ணப்பத்தின்படி அவர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவாராக என்றான்.
18 And she said, Let thy bondwoman find grace in thy sight. And the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more [as before].
௧௮அப்பொழுது அவள்: உம்முடைய அடியாளுக்கு உம்முடைய கண்களிலே தயவு கிடைக்கட்டும் என்றாள்; பின்பு அந்த பெண் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் சாப்பிட்டாள்; அதன்பின்பு அவள் துக்கமுகமாக இருக்கவில்லை.
19 And they rose up early in the morning and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her.
௧௯அவர்கள் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, யெகோவாவைத் தொழுதுகொண்டு, ராமாவிலிருக்கிற தங்களுடைய வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போனார்கள்; எல்க்கானா தன் மனைவியாகிய அன்னாளுடன் இணைந்தான்; யெகோவா அவளை நினைத்தார்.
20 And it came to pass when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son, and called his name Samuel, [saying, ] Because I have asked him of Jehovah.
௨0சிலநாட்கள் சென்றபின்பு அன்னாள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி, ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்று, யெகோவாவிடத்தில் அவனைக் கேட்டேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு சாமுவேல் என்று பெயரிட்டாள்.
21 And Elkanah her husband, and all his house, went up to sacrifice to Jehovah the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
௨௧எல்க்கானா என்பவன் யெகோவாவுக்கு வருடந்தோறும் செலுத்தும் பலியையும் தன்னுடைய பொருத்தனையையும் செலுத்தும்படியாக, தன்னுடைய வீட்டார் அனைவரோடும் போனான்.
22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, [I will wait] until the child is weaned; then will I bring him, that he may appear before Jehovah, and there abide for ever.
௨௨அன்னாள் அவர்களுடன் போகவில்லை; அவள்: பிள்ளை பால்குடிப்பதை மறந்தபின்பு, அவன் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக காணப்படவும், அங்கே எப்பொழுதும் இருக்கவும், நான் அவனைக் கொண்டுபோய்விடுவேன் என்று தன்னுடைய கணவனிடம் சொன்னாள்.
23 And Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what is good in thy sight: abide until thou hast weaned him; only, may Jehovah fulfil his word. And the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
௨௩அப்பொழுது அவளுடைய கணவனாகிய எல்க்கானா அவளை நோக்கி: நீ உன்னுடைய விருப்பத்தின்படி செய்து, அவனை பால் மறக்கச்செய்யும்வரை இரு; யெகோவா தம்முடைய வார்த்தையைமட்டும் நிறைவேற்றுவாராக என்றான்; அப்படியே அந்தப் பெண் தன்னுடைய பிள்ளையைப் பால் மறக்கச்செய்யும்வரைக்கும் பாலூட்டி வளர்த்தாள்.
24 And she took him up with her when she had weaned him, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a flask of wine, and brought him to the house of Jehovah to Shiloh; and the boy was young.
௨௪அவள் அவனைப் பால்மறக்கச் செய்தபின்பு, மூன்று காளைகளையும், ஒரு மரக்கால் மாவையும், ஒரு தோல்பை திராட்சை ரசத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, சீலோவிலிருக்கிற யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குப் போனாள்; பிள்ளை இன்னும் குழந்தையாக இருந்தான்.
25 And they slaughtered the bullock, and brought the boy to Eli.
௨௫அவர்கள் ஒரு காளையைப் பலியிட்டு, பிள்ளையை ஏலியினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து விட்டார்கள்.
26 And she said, Oh my lord, [as] thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here to pray to Jehovah.
௨௬அப்பொழுது அவள்: என்னுடைய ஆண்டவனே, இங்கே உம்முடைய அருகிலே நின்று யெகோவாவை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம் செய்த பெண் நான்தான் என்று என்னுடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய உம்முடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்.
27 For this boy I prayed; and Jehovah has granted me my petition which I asked of him.
௨௭இந்தப் பிள்ளைக்காக விண்ணப்பம்செய்தேன்; நான் யெகோவாவிடத்தில் கேட்ட என்னுடைய விண்ணப்பத்தின்படி எனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.
28 And also I have lent him to Jehovah: all the days that he lives, he is lent to Jehovah. And he worshipped Jehovah there.
௨௮எனவே, அவன் யெகோவாவெக்கென்று கேட்கப்பட்டதால், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கும் எல்லா நாட்களும் அவனைக் யெகோவாவுக்கே ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றாள்; அவன் அங்கே யெகோவாவைத் தொழுதுகொண்டான்.
