1 Kings 1
1 And king David was old [and] advanced in age; and they covered him with clothes, but he obtained no warmth.
১দায়ূদ রাজা বৃদ্ধ ও তাঁর অনেক বয়স হয়েছিল। লোকেরা তাঁর শরীরে অনেক কাপড় দিয়ে ঢেকে দিলেও তা আর গরম হত না।
2 And his servants said to him, Let there be found for my lord the king a young virgin; and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get warm.
২সেইজন্য তাঁর কর্মচারীরা তাঁকে বলল, “আমাদের প্রভু মহারাজের জন্য আমরা একজন যুবতী কুমারী মেয়ের খোঁজ করি। সে রাজার কাছে থেকে তাঁর সেবা যত্ন করুক। আমাদের প্রভু মহারাজের শরীর যাতে গরম হয়, সেইজন্য সে তাঁর বুকের ওপরে শুয়ে থাকুক।”
3 And they sought for a fair damsel throughout the territory of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
৩তাতে তারা গোটা ইস্রায়েল দেশে একটা সুন্দরী মেয়ের খোঁজ করতে লাগল। পরে তারা শূনেমীয়া অবীশগকে পেল এবং তাকে রাজার কাছে নিয়ে গেল।
4 And the damsel was very fair; and cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king knew her not.
৪সেই মেয়েটি খুব সুন্দরী ছিল। সে রাজার কাছে থেকে তাঁর সেবা যত্ন করতে লাগল, কিন্তু রাজা তার সঙ্গে শারীরিক সম্পর্কে মিলিত হলেন না।
5 And Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king; and he provided himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
৫দায়ূদের স্ত্রী হগীতের ছেলে আদোনিয় গর্ব করে বলতে লাগল, “আমিই রাজা হব।” এই বলে সে কতগুলো রথ ও ঘোড়সওয়ার ও তার আগে আগে যাবার জন্য পঞ্চাশজন লোকও নিযুক্ত করল।
6 And his father had not grieved him at any time in saying, Why doest thou so? and he was also a very comely man; and [his mother] bore him after Absalom.
৬তার বাবা কোনো কাজে তাকে কখনও বাধা দেন নি, বলেন নি, “কেন তুমি এই কাজ করেছ?” আদোনিয় দেখতে সুন্দর ছিল; তার জন্ম হয়েছিল অবশালোমের পরে।
7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest; and they helped Adonijah and followed [him].
৭সরূয়ার ছেলে যোয়াব ও যাজক অবিয়াথরের সঙ্গে আদোনিয় পরামর্শ করল, আর তারাও তার পক্ষ হয়ে তাকে সাহায্য করল।
8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men whom David had, were not with Adonijah.
৮কিন্তু যাজক সাদোক যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায়, ভাববাদী নাথন, শিমিয়ি, রেয়ি এবং দায়ূদের বীর যোদ্ধারা আদোনিয়ের পক্ষে যোগ দিল না।
9 And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatted cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and invited all his brethren, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants;
৯ঐন্ রোগেলের পাশে সোহেলৎ পাথরের কাছে আদোনিয় কতগুলো ভেড়া, ষাঁড় এবং মোটাসোটা বাছুর বলিদান করে তার সব ভাইদের, রাজার ছেলেদের ও যিহূদার সমস্ত রাজকর্মচারীদের নিমন্ত্রণ করল।
10 but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he did not invite.
১০কিন্তু সে ভাববাদী নাথন, বনায়, দায়ূদের বীর যোদ্ধাদের আর তার ভাই শলোমনকে নিমন্ত্রণ করল না।
11 And Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith is king, and David our lord does not know [it]?
১১তখন নাথন শলোমনের মা বৎশেবাকে বলল, “আমাদের মনিব দায়ূদের অজান্তে হগীতের ছেলে আদোনিয় যে রাজা হয়েছে তা কি আপনি শোনেন নি?
12 And now, come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
১২আপনি কেমন করে আপনার নিজের ও আপনার ছেলে শলোমনের প্রাণ রক্ষা করতে পারবেন, আমি এখন আপনাকে সেই পরামর্শ দিচ্ছি।
13 Go and get thee in to king David, and say to him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear to thy handmaid saying, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? why then does Adonijah reign?
১৩আপনি এখনই রাজা দায়ূদের কাছে গিয়ে বলুন, ‘আমার প্রভু মহারাজ, আপনার দাসীর কাছে কি আপনি এই বলে প্রতিজ্ঞা করেন নি যে, আপনার পরে নিশ্চয়ই আপনার ছেলে শলোমনই রাজা হবে এবং সেই আপনার সিংহাসনে বসবে? তাহলে কেন আদোনিয় রাজা হয়েছে?’
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee and confirm thy words.
১৪আপনি যখন রাজার সঙ্গে কথা বলতে থাকবেন তখন আমিও সেখানে গিয়ে আপনার কথায় সায় দেব।”
15 And Bathsheba went in to the king into the chamber; and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered to the king.
১৫পরে বৎশেবা রাজার ঘরে গেলেন। সেই দিন রাজা খুব বুড়ো হয়ে গিয়েছিলেন এবং শূনেমীয়া অবীশগ তাঁর দেখাশোনা করছিল।
16 And Bathsheba bowed and did obeisance to the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?
১৬বৎশেবা রাজার সামনে উপুড় হয়ে প্রণাম করলেন। রাজা জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তুমি কি চাও?”
17 And she said to him, My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid, [saying, ] Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.
১৭বৎশেবা তাঁকে বললেন, “হে আমার প্রভু, আপনি নিজেই আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর নামে শপথ করে আপনার এই দাসীকে বলেছিলেন যে, আমার পরে তোমার ছেলে শলোমন রাজত্ব করবে, সেই আমার সিংহাসনে বসবে।
18 And now behold, Adonijah is king; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not.
১৮এখন, দেখুন, আদোনিয় রাজা হয়েছে আর আপনি, আমার প্রভু মহারাজ, এই বিষয়ে কিছুই জানেন না।
19 And he has sacrificed oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king and Abiathar the priest and Joab the captain of the host; but Solomon thy servant has he not invited.
১৯সে অনেক গরু, মোটাসোটা বাছুর ও ভেড়া উৎসর্গ করেছে এবং রাজার সব ছেলেদের, যাজক অবিয়াথরকে ও সেনাপতি যোয়াবকে নিমন্ত্রণ করেছে, কিন্তু আপনার দাস শলোমনকে সে নিমন্ত্রণ করে নি।
20 And thou, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
২০হে আমার প্রভু মহারাজ, সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের চোখ আপনার উপর রয়েছে। তারা আপনার কাছ থেকে জানতে চায় আপনার পরে কে আমার প্রভু মহারাজের সিংহাসনে বসবে।
21 Otherwise it shall come to pass when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.
২১তা না হলে যখনই আমার মালিক মহারাজ তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের ন্যায় চলে যাবেন তখনই আমাকে ও আমার ছেলে শলোমনকে দোষী বলে ধরা হবে।”
22 And behold, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.
২২রাজার সঙ্গে বৎশেবার কথা শেষ হতে না হতেই ভাববাদী নাথন সেখানে উপস্থিত হলেন।
23 And they told the king saying, Behold, Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
২৩তখন কেউ একজন রাজাকে বলল, “ভাববাদী নাথন এখানে এসেছেন।” তখন সে রাজার সামনে গিয়ে মাটিতে উপুড় হয়ে তাঁকে প্রণাম জানালেন।
24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?
২৪তারপর নাথান রাজাকে বললেন, “হে আমার প্রভু মহারাজ, আপনি কি ঘোষণা করেছেন যে, আপনার পরে আদোনিয় রাজা হবে, আর সেই আপনার সিংহাসনে বসবে?
25 For he is gone down this day, and has sacrificed oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah!
২৫সে তো আজ গিয়ে অনেক ষাঁড়, মোটাসোটা বাছুর এবং ভেড়া বলিদান করে রাজার সব ছেলেদের, সেনাপতিদের এবং পুরোহিত অবিয়াথরকে নিমন্ত্রণ করেছে। এখন তারা তার সঙ্গে খাওয়া দাওয়া করছে আর বলছে, ‘রাজা আদোনিয় চিরজীবী হোন।’
26 But me, [even] me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, he has not invited.
২৬আপনার দাস আমাকে, যাজক সাদোককে, যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায়কে এবং আপনার দাস শলোমনকে সে নিমন্ত্রণ করে নি।
27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewn to thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
২৭আমার প্রভু মহারাজের পরে কে সিংহাসনে বসবে তা কি আমার প্রভু মহারাজ তাঁর দাসদের না জানিয়েই ঠিক করেছেন?” শলোমন রাজা হলেন
28 Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.
২৮তখন রাজা দায়ূদ বললেন, “বৎশেবাকে আমার কাছে ডাক।” তাতে বৎশেবা রাজার সামনে গিয়ে দাঁড়ালেন।
29 And the king swore, and said, [As] Jehovah liveth, who has redeemed my soul out of all distress,
২৯রাজা তখন শপথ করে বললেন, “যিনি আমাকে সমস্ত বিপদ থেকে উদ্ধার করেছেন, সেই জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্যি যে,
30 even as I swore to thee by Jehovah the God of Israel, saying, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
৩০ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর নামে যে শপথ আমি তোমার কাছে করেছিলাম আজ আমি নিশ্চয়ই তা পালন করব। তোমার ছেলে শলোমন আমার পরে রাজা হবে আর সেই আমার জায়গায় সিংহাসনে বসবে।”
31 And Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
৩১তখন বৎশেবা মাটিতে উপুড় হয়ে প্রণাম করে রাজাকে বললেন, “আমার প্রভু মহারাজ দায়ূদ চিরজীবী হোন।”
32 And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
৩২রাজা দায়ূদ বললেন, “যাজক সাদোক, ভাববাদী নাথন এবং যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায়কে আমার কাছে ডেকে আন।” তাঁরা রাজার কাছে আসলেন।
33 And the king said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon;
৩৩রাজা তাঁদের বললেন, “আপনারা আমার দাসদেরকে সঙ্গে নিন এবং আমার ছেলে শলোমনকে আমার নিজের খচ্চরে বসিয়ে তাকে নিয়ে গীহোন উপত্যকায় নেমে যান।
34 and let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel; and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, Long live king Solomon!
৩৪যাজক সাদোক ও ভাববাদী নাথন সেখানে তাকে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা হিসাবে অভিষেক করুন। তারপর আপনারা তূরী বাজিয়ে চিৎকার করে বলুন, ‘রাজা শলোমন চিরজীবী হোন।’
35 And ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit on my throne; for he shall reign in my stead, and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
৩৫এর পর আপনারা তার পিছনে পিছনে ফিরে আসবেন। সে এসে আমার সিংহাসনে বসবে এবং আমার জায়গায় রাজত্ব করবে। আমি তাকে ইস্রায়েল ও যিহূদার শাসনকর্ত্তা নিযুক্ত করলাম।”
36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, Amen: Jehovah, the God of my lord the king, say so too.
৩৬তখন যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায় রাজাকে বললেন, “আমেন। আমাদের প্রভু মহারাজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাই করুন।
37 As Jehovah has been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
৩৭সদাপ্রভু যেমন আমার প্রভু মহারাজের সঙ্গে থেকেছেন তেমনি শলোমনের সঙ্গেও থাকুন এবং আমার প্রভু রাজা দায়ূদের রাজ্যের চেয়েও তাঁর রাজ্য আরও বড় করুন!”
38 And Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
৩৮তখন যাজক সাদোক, ভাববাদী নাথন, যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায়, করেথীয় ও পলেথীয়েরা গিয়ে শলোমনকে রাজা দায়ূদের খচ্চরে বসিয়ে গীহোনে নিয়ে গেলেন।
39 And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Long live king Solomon!
৩৯যাজক সাদোক পবিত্র তাঁবু থেকে তেলের শিঙ্গাটা নিয়ে এসে শলোমনকে অভিষেক করলেন। তারপর তাঁরা তূরী বাজালেন এবং সমস্ত লোকেরা চিৎকার করে বলল, “রাজা শলোমন চিরজীবী হোন।”
40 And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
৪০তারপর সমস্ত লোক বাঁশী বাজাতে বাজাতে এবং খুব আনন্দ করতে করতে শলোমনের পিছনে পিছনে ফিরে আসল। তারা এমনভাবে আনন্দ করল যে, তার শব্দে পৃথিবী কেঁপে উঠল।
41 And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard [it] as they were finishing their repast; and Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, and he said, Wherefore this noise of the city in an uproar?
৪১সেই দিন আদোনিয় ও সমস্ত নিমন্ত্রিত লোকেরা খাওয়ার শেষের দিকে সেই শব্দ শুনল। তূরীর আওয়াজ শুনে যোয়াব জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “শহরে এই সব গোলমাল হচ্ছে কেন?”
42 While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said [to him], Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good news.
৪২তাঁর কথা শেষ হতে না হতেই যাজক অবিয়াথরের ছেলে যোনাথন সেখানে উপস্থিত হল। আদোনিয় তাকে বলল, “আসুন, আসুন। আপনি তো ভাল লোক, নিশ্চয়ই ভাল সংবাদ এনেছেন।”
43 And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Indeed, our lord king David has made Solomon king.
৪৩যোনাথন উত্তর দিল এবং আদোনিয়কে বলল, “আমাদের প্রভু মহারাজ দায়ূদ শলোমনকে রাজা করেছেন।
44 And the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule;
৪৪রাজা তাঁর সঙ্গে যাজক সাদোক, ভাববাদী নাথন, যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায়, করেথীয় ও পলেথীয়দের পাঠিয়েছেন। তাঁরা তাঁকে রাজার খচ্চরের উপর বসিয়েছেন,
45 and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon; and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise which ye have heard.
৪৫আর যাজক সাদোক ও ভাববাদী নাথন গীহোনে তাঁকে রাজপদে অভিষেক করেছেন। সেখান থেকে লোকেরা আনন্দ করতে করতে ফিরে গিয়েছে আর শহরে সেই গোলমালই হচ্ছে। সেই আওয়াজই আপনারা শুনতে পাচ্ছেন।
46 And also Solomon is sitting on the throne of the kingdom.
৪৬এছাড়া শলোমন রাজ সিংহাসনেও বসেছেন,
47 And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God make the name of Solomon more excellent than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne! And the king bowed himself on the bed.
৪৭আর রাজার কর্মচারীরা আমাদের মনিব রাজা দায়ূদকে তাদের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে বলেছে, ‘আপনার ঈশ্বর আপনার নামের চেয়েও শলোমনের নাম মহান করুন এবং আপনার রাজ্যের চেয়েও তাঁর রাজ্য আরও বড় করুন।’ তখন রাজা বিছানার ওপরেই নত হলেন।
48 And also thus said the king: Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
৪৮রাজা আরো বললেন, ‘ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর গৌরব হোক। আমার সিংহাসনের অধিকারীকে আজ তিনি আমাকে দেখতে দিলেন।’”
49 And all Adonijah's guests were afraid, and rose up and went every man his way.
৪৯এই কথা শুনে আদোনিয়ের নিমন্ত্রিত সব লোকেরা খুব ভয় পেল এবং উঠে যে যার পথে চলে গেল।
50 And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose and went and caught hold of the horns of the altar.
৫০আদোনিয় শলোমনের ভয়ে উঠে গিয়ে বেদির শিং ধরে থাকল।
51 And it was told Solomon saying, Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for behold, he has caught hold of the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me this day that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.
৫১তখন শলোমনকে কেউ একজন বলল যে, আদোনিয় তাঁর ভয়ে বেদির শিং আঁকড়ে ধরেছে। সে বলেছে, “রাজা শলোমন আজ আমার কাছে শপথ করুন যে, তিনি তাঁর দাসকে মেরে ফেলবেন না।”
52 And Solomon said, If he be a worthy man, there shall not one of his hairs fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die.
৫২উত্তরে শলোমন বললেন, “সে যদি নিজেকে ভাল লোক হিসাবে দেখাতে পারে তবে তার মাথার একটা চুলও মাটিতে পড়বে না; কিন্তু যদি তার মধ্যে মন্দ কিছু পাওয়া যায় তবে সে মরবে।”
53 And king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, Go to thy house.
৫৩এই বলে রাজা শলোমন লোক পাঠিয়ে দিলেন আর তারা গিয়ে আদোনিয়কে বেদী থেকে নিয়ে আসল। আদোনিয় এসে রাজা শলোমনের সামনে মাটিতে উপুড় হয়ে প্রণাম করলো। শলোমন বললেন, “তোমার ঘরে চলে যাও।”
