1 Kings 4
1 And king Solomon was king over all Israel.
Or le roi Salomon régnait sur tout Israël;
2 And these are the princes whom he had: Azariah the son of Zadok was priest;
Et voici les principaux officiers qu’il avait: Azarias, fils de Sadoc, le prêtre;
3 Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, chronicler;
Elihoreph et Ahia, fils de Sisa, étaient scribes; Josaphat, fils d’Ahilud, tenait les registres;
4 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
Banaïas, fils de Joïada, commandait l’armée; Sadoc et Abiathar étaient prêtres;
5 and Azariah the son of Nathan was over the superintendents; and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, the king's friend;
Azarias, fils de Nathan, prêtre, commandait à ceux qui étaient toujours auprès du roi; Zabud, fils de Nathan, était ami du roi;
6 and Ahishar was over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the levy-service.
Et Ahisar, intendant de la maison; et Adoniram, fils d’Abda, surintendant des tributs.
7 And Solomon had twelve superintendents over all Israel; and they provided food for the king and his household: each man his month in the year had to make provision.
Et Salomon avait douze préposés sur tout Israël, qui fournissaient les vivres au roi et à sa maison; car à chaque mois dans l’année, chacun donnait tout ce qui était nécessaire.
8 And these are their names: Ben-Hur, in mount Ephraim.
Voici leurs noms: Benhur était préposé sur la montagne d’Ephraïm;
9 Ben-Deker in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-Beth-hanan.
Bendécar, à Maccès, à Salébim, à Bethsamès, à Elon et à Béthanan;
10 Ben-Hesed, in Arubboth; he had Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher.
Benhésed, à Aruboth: Socho était à lui, et toute la terre d’Hépher.
11 Ben-Abinadab had all the upland of Dor; Taphath the daughter of Solomon was his wife.
Bénabinadad, à qui était tout le Néphat-Dor, avait Tapheth, fille de Salomon, pour femme.
12 Baana the son of Ahilud had Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zaretan beneath Jizreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-Meholah, as far as beyond Jokneam.
Bana, fils d’Ahilud, gouvernait Thanac, Mageddo, et tout le Bethsan, qui est près de Sarthana, au-dessous de Jezraël, depuis Bethsan jusqu’à Abelméhula vis-à-vis de Jecmaan.
13 Ben-Geber, in Ramoth-Gilead; he had the villages of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; he had the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bars of bronze.
Bengaber était à Ramoth-Galaad; et il avait les bourgs de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, en Galaad; c’est lui qui était préposé dans toute la contrée d’Argob, qui est en Basan, sur soixante cités grandes et murées, qui avaient des verrous d’airain.
14 Ahinadab the son of Iddo, at Mahanaim.
Ahinadab, fils d’Addo, était préposé sur Manaïm;
15 Ahimaaz, in Nephtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon as wife.
Achimaas, sur Nephthali; et lui aussi eut Basémath, fille de Salomon, en mariage;
16 Baanah the son of Hushai, in Asher and in Aloth.
Baana, fils d’Husi, sur Aser et sur Baloth;
17 Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar.
Josaphat, fils de Pharué, sur Issachar;
18 Shimei the son of Ela, in Benjamin.
Séméi, fils d’Ela, sur Benjamin;
19 Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the land of Sihon the king of the Amorites, and of Og the king of Bashan; and [he was] the only superintendent that was in the land.
Gaber, fils d’Uri, sur la terre de Galaad, sur la terre de Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens, et d’Og, roi de Basan, sur tout ce qui était en cette terre.
20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and making merry.
Juda et Israël étaient innombrables comme le sable de la mer par leur multitude, mangeant, buvant et se réjouissant.
21 And Solomon ruled over all kingdoms from the river to the land of the Philistines, and as far as the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
Or, Salomon avait sous sa domination tous les royaumes, depuis le fleuve de la terre des Philistins jusqu’à la frontière d’Egypte; ils lui offrirent des présents et le servirent durant tous les jours de sa vie.
22 And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of meal,
Or, les vivres de Salomon étaient chaque jour trente cors de fleur de farine et soixante cors de farine ordinaire;
23 ten fatted oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides harts, and gazelles, and fallow-deer, and fatted fowl.
Dix bœufs gras, vingt bœufs de pâturage, cent béliers, outre la venaison des cerfs, des chevreuils, des bubales et de la volaille.
24 For he had dominion over all on this side the river, from Tiphsah as far as Gazah, over all the kings on this side the river; and he had peace on all sides round about.
Car c’est lui qui dominait sur toute la contrée qui était au-delà du fleuve, depuis Taphsa jusqu’à Gaza, et sur tous les rois de ces contrées; et il avait la paix de toutes parts alentour.
25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.
Et Juda et Israël habitaient sans aucune crainte, chacun sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, depuis Dan jusqu’à Bersabée, durant tous les jours de Salomon.
26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.
Et Salomon avait quarante mille écuries pour les chevaux des chariots, et douze mille cavaliers.
27 And those officers provided food for king Solomon, and for all who came to king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they let nothing be wanting.
Les susdits préposés par le roi les nourrissaient; mais ils fournissaient aussi ce qui était nécessaire à la table du roi Salomon avec un grand soin et en son temps.
28 And the barley, and the straw for the horses and coursers, they brought to the place where [the superintendents] were, every man according to his charge.
Ils portaient aussi l’orge et la paille pour les chevaux et les bestiaux, au lieu où était le roi, selon l’ordre qu’ils avaient reçu.
29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and very great understanding and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.
Dieu donna aussi à Salomon une sagesse et une prudence très grande, et une étendue de cœur, comme le sable qui est sur le rivage de la mer.
30 And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the sons of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
Et la sagesse de Salomon surpassait la sagesse de tous les Orientaux et de tous les Egyptiens;
31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the nations round about.
Il était plus sage que tous les hommes, plus sage qu’Ethan l’Ezrahite, qu’Héman, Chalcol et Dorda, enfants de Mahol; et il était renommé dans toutes les nations des environs.
32 And he spoke three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.
Salomon dit trois mille paraboles, et ses cantiques furent au nombre de mille et cinq.
33 And he spoke of the trees, from the cedar-tree that is on Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of cattle, and of fowls, and of creeping things, and of fishes.
Et il discourut sur les arbres, depuis le cèdre qui est sur le Liban, jusqu’à l’hysope qui sort de la muraille, et traita des bestiaux, des oiseaux, des reptiles et des poissons.
34 And there came of all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.
Et on venait de chez tous les peuples pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, et de la part de tous les rois de la terre qui apprenaient sa sagesse.
