1 Kings 1
1 And king David was old [and] advanced in age; and they covered him with clothes, but he obtained no warmth.
Und König David war alt und hochbetagt. Da hüllte man ihn in warme Kleider. Er konnte aber nicht warm werden.
2 And his servants said to him, Let there be found for my lord the king a young virgin; and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get warm.
Da sprachen seine Diener zu ihm: "Man suche für meinen Herrn, den König, ein jungfräuliches Mädchen, daß sie dem König aufwarte und ihm Pflegerin sei! Liegt sie an deinem Busen, dann wird es meinem Herrn, dem König, warm werden."
3 And they sought for a fair damsel throughout the territory of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
Da suchte man ein schönes Mädchen im ganzen Gebiete Israels. Und man fand die Sunamitin Abisag und brachte sie zum König.
4 And the damsel was very fair; and cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king knew her not.
Das Mädchen war sehr schön. So ward sie des Königs Pflegerin und bediente ihn. Der König aber erkannte sie nicht.
5 And Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king; and he provided himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
Da meinte Chaggits Sohn Adonias voller Überhebung: "Ich bin es, der König wird." Er schaffte sich Wagen und Pferde an und fünfzig Mann, die vor ihm herliefen.
6 And his father had not grieved him at any time in saying, Why doest thou so? and he was also a very comely man; and [his mother] bore him after Absalom.
Sein Vater aber war ihm nie in seinem Leben zu nahe getreten, so daß er ihm gesagt hätte: "Warum tust du das oder das?" Auch er war sehr schön und von Geburt der nächste nach Absalom.
7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest; and they helped Adonijah and followed [him].
Er aber unterhandelte mit Joab, Serujas Sohn, und mit dem Priester Ebjatar. Und sie traten zu Adonias über.
8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men whom David had, were not with Adonijah.
Aber der Priester Sadok, Jojadas Sohn Benaja, der Prophet Natan, Simi und Reï sowie Davids Krieger hielten nicht zu Adonias.
9 And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatted cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and invited all his brethren, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants;
Nun schlachtete Adonias Schafe, Rinder und Mastkälber bei dem Schlangenstein neben der Walkerquelle. Dazu lud er alle seine Brüder, die Königssöhne, ein, ebenso alle Mannen Judas, des Königs Diener.
10 but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he did not invite.
Aber den Propheten Natan und Benaja, die Krieger und seinen Bruder Salomo hatte er nicht eingeladen.
11 And Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith is king, and David our lord does not know [it]?
Da sprach Natan zu Salomos Mutter Batseba: "Hörst du nicht, daß Adonias, Chaggits Sohn, König wird? Und unser Herr David weiß nichts davon.
12 And now, come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
Nun komm! Ich will dir raten, wie du dein und deines Sohnes Salomo Leben rettest!
13 Go and get thee in to king David, and say to him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear to thy handmaid saying, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? why then does Adonijah reign?
Geh zum König David hinein und sprich zu ihm: 'Hast du nicht selbst, mein Herr und König, deiner Magd geschworen: "Gewiß! Dein Sohn Salomo wird nach mir König. Er wird auf meinem Throne sitzen"? Warum wird Adonias König?'
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee and confirm thy words.
Solange du dort noch mit dem König sprichst, komme ich nach dir hinein und bestätige deine Worte."
15 And Bathsheba went in to the king into the chamber; and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered to the king.
Da ging Batseba zum König in das innere Gemach. Der König aber war sehr alt, und die Sunamitin Abisag bediente den König.
16 And Bathsheba bowed and did obeisance to the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?
Batseba verneigte sich nun und warf sich vor dem König nieder. Da fragte der König: "Was willst du?"
17 And she said to him, My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid, [saying, ] Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.
Sie sprach zu ihm: "Mein Herr! Du hast beim Herrn, deinem Gott, deiner Magd geschworen: 'Dein Sohn Salomo wird nach mir König. Er wird auf meinem Throne sitzen.'
18 And now behold, Adonijah is king; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not.
Nun aber wird Adonias König, und du, mein Herr und König, weißt nichts davon.
19 And he has sacrificed oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king and Abiathar the priest and Joab the captain of the host; but Solomon thy servant has he not invited.
Er schlachtete Rinder, Mastkälber und Schafe in Menge und lud alle Königssöhne samt dem Priester Ebjatar und dem Feldhauptmann Joab ein, dagegen nicht deinen Knecht Salomo.
20 And thou, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
Auf dich, mein Herr und König, sind die Augen von ganz Israel gerichtet, daß du ihnen kundtust, wer auf dem Throne meines Herrn und Königs nach ihm sitzen soll!
21 Otherwise it shall come to pass when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.
Legte sich aber mein Herr und König zu seinen Vätern, dann stünden ich und mein Sohn Salomo als Verbrecher da."
22 And behold, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.
Sie sprach noch mit dem König; da kam der Prophet Natan.
23 And they told the king saying, Behold, Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
Man meldete dem König: "Der Prophet Natan ist da." So kam er vor den König und warf sich vor ihm auf sein Antlitz zur Erde.
24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?
Und Natan sprach: "Mein Herr und König! Hast du bestimmt: 'Adonias soll nach mir König sein und er soll auf meinem Throne sitzen'?
25 For he is gone down this day, and has sacrificed oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah!
Denn er ist heute hinabgegangen und hat Ochsen, Mastkälber und Schafe in Menge geschlachtet. Dazu lud er alle Königssöhne ein, sowie die Heeresobersten und den Priester Ebjatar. Nun essen und trinken sie vor ihm und rufen: 'Es lebe der König Adonias!'
26 But me, [even] me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, he has not invited.
Mich aber, deinen Knecht, den Priester Sadok, Jojadas Sohn Benaja und deinen Knecht Salomo hat er nicht geladen.
27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewn to thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
Ist das von meinem Herrn und König ausgegangen, und hast du deine Diener nicht wissen lassen, wer auf dem Thron meines Herrn und Königs nach ihm sitzen soll?"
28 Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.
Da hob der König David an und sprach: "Ruft mir Batseba!" Da kam sie vor den König und trat vor den König hin.
29 And the king swore, and said, [As] Jehovah liveth, who has redeemed my soul out of all distress,
Da schwur der König und sprach: "So wahr der Herr lebt, der mich aus aller Not befreit hat!
30 even as I swore to thee by Jehovah the God of Israel, saying, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
Wie ich dir beim Herrn, Israels Gott, geschworen: 'Dein Sohn Salomo wird nach mir König; er soll auf meinem Thron an meiner Statt sitzen', so will ich heute tun."
31 And Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
Da neigte sich Batseba mit dem Antlitz bis zur Erde, fiel vor dem König nieder und sprach: "Lang lebe mein Herr, der König David!"
32 And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
Da sprach der König David: "Ruft mir den Priester Sadok, den Propheten Natan und Benaja, Jojadas Sohn!" Da kamen sie vor den König.
33 And the king said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon;
Da sprach der König zu ihnen: "Nehmt die Diener eures Herrn mit euch und laßt meinen Sohn Salomo mein eigenes Maultier besteigen! Dann führt ihn zum Gichon hinab!
34 and let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel; and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, Long live king Solomon!
Dort salbe ihn der Priester Sadok und der Prophet Natan zum König über Israel! Dann stoßt in das Horn und ruft: 'Es lebe König Salomo!'
35 And ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit on my throne; for he shall reign in my stead, and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
Dann zieht hinter ihm herauf! Er komme dann herein und setze sich auf meinen Thron! Er sei König an meiner Statt! Denn ihn bestelle ich, daß er Fürst über Israel und Juda sei."
36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, Amen: Jehovah, the God of my lord the king, say so too.
Da antwortete Jojadas Sohn Benaja dem König und sprach: "So sei es! So spreche der Herr, der Gott meines Herrn und Königs!
37 As Jehovah has been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
Wie der Herr mit meinem Herrn und König gewesen, so sei er mit Salomo und erhöhe seinen Thron noch über den Thron meines Herrn und Königs David!"
38 And Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
Da gingen der Priester Sadok, der Prophet Natan und Jojadas Sohn Benaja samt den Bogenschützen und den Schildträgern hinab und ließen Salomo das Maultier des Königs David besteigen. Dann führten sie ihn zum Gichon hinab.
39 And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Long live king Solomon!
Der Priester Sadok aber nahm das Ölhorn aus dem Zelte und salbte Salomo. Dann stießen sie in das Horn, und das ganze Volk rief: "Es lebe der König Salomo!"
40 And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
Dann zog das ganze Volk hinter ihm her. Dabei bliesen die Leute auf Flöten und jauchzten in großer Freude, und die Erde zitterte vor ihrem Geschrei.
41 And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard [it] as they were finishing their repast; and Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, and he said, Wherefore this noise of the city in an uproar?
Das hörten Adonias und alle Geladenen bei ihm. Doch wollten sie das Mahl zu Ende führen. Auch Joab hörte den Hörnerschall und fragte: "Warum ist der Lärm in der Stadt so laut?"
42 While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said [to him], Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good news.
Noch sprach er, da kam des Priesters Ebjatar Sohn Jonatan. Da sprach Adonias: "Komm her! Du bist ein wackerer Mann und bringst uns gute Botschaft."
43 And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Indeed, our lord king David has made Solomon king.
Da hob Jonatan an und sprach zu Adonias: "Leider hat unser Herr, der König David, den Salomo zum König gemacht.
44 And the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule;
Und der König gab ihm den Priester Sadok, den Propheten Natan, den Jojadasohn Benaja und die Bogenschützen und die Schildträger mit. Sie ließen ihn des Königs Maultier besteigen.
45 and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon; and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise which ye have heard.
Dann salbten ihn der Priester Sadok und der Prophet Natan zum König am Gichon und zogen von dort mit Jauchzen hinauf, daß die Stadt von Lärm erfüllt war. Das ist der Lärm, den ihr gehört habt.
46 And also Solomon is sitting on the throne of the kingdom.
Schon hat sich Salomo auf den Reichsthron gesetzt.
47 And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God make the name of Solomon more excellent than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne! And the king bowed himself on the bed.
Und schon sind des Königs Diener hineingegangen, unseren Herrn, den König David zu segnen. Sie sprachen: 'Dein Gott mache Salomos Name noch herrlicher als den deinen und erhöhe seinen Thron über deinen Thron!' Und der König verneigte sich auf seinem Lager.
48 And also thus said the king: Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
Weiter sprach der König also: 'Gepriesen sei der Herr, Israels Gott, der es heute gefügt, daß sich einer auf meinen Thron gesetzt und meine Augen es noch sehen dürfen!'"
49 And all Adonijah's guests were afraid, and rose up and went every man his way.
Da erschraken alle, die Adonias eingeladen hatte. Sie brachen auf und gingen jeder seines Wegs.
50 And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose and went and caught hold of the horns of the altar.
Adonias aber ward voll Furcht vor Salomo, eilte hin und erfaßte die Hörner des Altars.
51 And it was told Solomon saying, Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for behold, he has caught hold of the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me this day that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.
Da meldete man Salomo: "Adonias fürchtet den König Salomo. Er hat die Altarhörner gefaßt und spricht: 'Der König Salomo schwöre mir zuvor, daß er seinen Knecht nicht mit dem Schwerte töten lasse!'"
52 And Solomon said, If he be a worthy man, there shall not one of his hairs fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die.
Da sprach Salomo: "Zeigt er sich als zuverlässig, dann soll keines seiner Haare auf die Erde fallen! Wird aber Böses an ihm erfunden, dann stirbt er."
53 And king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, Go to thy house.
Und der König Salomo sandte hin, und sie führten ihn vom Altar herab. Er kam und warf sich vor dem König Salomo nieder. Da sprach Salomo zu ihm: "Geh heim!"
