1 John 5
1 Every one that believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God; and every one that loves him that has begotten loves also him that is begotten of him.
Quien cree que Jesús es el Cristo ha nacido de Dios. Quien ama al Padre, ama también al hijo que ha nacido de él.
2 Hereby know we that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.
En esto sabemos que amamos a los hijos de Dios, cuando amamos a Dios y guardamos sus mandamientos.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.
Porque esto es amar a Dios, que guardemos sus mandamientos. Sus mandamientos no son gravosos.
4 For all that has been begotten of God gets the victory over the world; and this is the victory which has gotten the victory over the world, our faith.
Porque todo lo que ha nacido de Dios vence al mundo. Esta es la victoria que ha vencido al mundo: vuestra fe.
5 Who is he that gets the victory over the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
¿Quién es el que vence al mundo, sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus [the] Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is the truth.
Este es el que vino por agua y sangre, Jesucristo; no con el agua solamente, sino con el agua y la sangre. Es el Espíritu quien da testimonio, porque el Espíritu es la verdad.
7 For they that bear witness are three:
Porque son tres los que dan testimonio:
8 the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three agree in one.
el Espíritu, el agua y la sangre; y los tres concuerdan como uno solo.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God [which] he has witnessed concerning his Son.
Si recibimos el testimonio de los hombres, el testimonio de Dios es mayor; porque éste es el testimonio de Dios que ha dado sobre su Hijo.
10 He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself; he that does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has witnessed concerning his Son.
El que cree en el Hijo de Dios tiene el testimonio en sí mismo. El que no cree en Dios se ha hecho mentiroso, porque no ha creído en el testimonio que Dios ha dado acerca de su Hijo.
11 And this is the witness, that God has given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
El testimonio es éste: que Dios nos dio la vida eterna, y esta vida está en su Hijo. (aiōnios g166)
12 He that has the Son has life: he that has not the Son of God has not life.
El que tiene al Hijo tiene la vida. El que no tiene al Hijo de Dios no tiene la vida.
13 These things have I written to you that ye may know that ye have eternal life who believe on the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
Estas cosas os he escrito a vosotros que creéis en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que sepáis que tenéis vida eterna, y para que sigáis creyendo en el nombre del Hijo de Dios. (aiōnios g166)
14 And this is the boldness which we have towards him, that if we ask him anything according to his will he hears us.
Esta es la confianza que tenemos en él, que si pedimos algo según su voluntad, él nos escucha.
15 And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
Y si sabemos que nos escucha, cualquier cosa que pidamos, sabemos que tenemos las peticiones que le hemos hecho.
16 If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.
Si alguno ve a su hermano pecar un pecado que no lleva a la muerte, pedirá, y Dios le dará la vida para los que pecan sin llevar a la muerte. Hay pecados que conducen a la muerte. No digo que deba hacer una petición al respecto.
17 Every unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not to death.
Toda injusticia es pecado, y hay pecado que no lleva a la muerte.
18 We know that every one begotten of God does not sin, but he that has been begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked [one] does not touch him.
Sabemos que el que ha nacido de Dios no peca, pero el que ha nacido de Dios se guarda a sí mismo, y el maligno no lo toca.
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the wicked [one].
Sabemos que somos de Dios, y que el mundo entero está en poder del maligno.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding that we should know him that [is] true; and we are in him that [is] true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
Sabemos que el Hijo de Dios ha venido y nos ha dado entendimiento, para que conozcamos al que es verdadero; y estamos en el que es verdadero, en su Hijo Jesucristo. Este es el verdadero Dios y la vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
21 Children, keep yourselves from idols.
Hijitos, alejaos de los ídolos.
