< Revelation 9 >

1 And the fifth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I saw upon the earth, a star that had fallen from heaven, and the key to the well of the abyss was given to him. (Abyssos g12)
The fifth angel blew his trumpet; and I saw a Star which had fallen from Heaven to the earth; and to him was given the key of the depths of the bottomless pit, (Abyssos g12)
2 And he opened the well of the abyss. And the smoke of the well ascended, like the smoke of a great furnace. And the sun and the air were obscured by the smoke of the well. (Abyssos g12)
and he opened the depths of the bottomless pit. And smoke came up out of the pit resembling the smoke of a vast furnace, so that the sun was darkened, and the air also, by reason of the smoke of the pit. (Abyssos g12)
3 And locusts went forth from the smoke of the well into the earth. And power was given to them, like the power that the scorpions of the earth have.
And from the midst of the smoke there came locusts on to the earth, and power was given to them resembling the power which earthly scorpions possess.
4 And it was commanded of them that they must not harm the plants of the earth, nor anything green, nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the Seal of God upon their foreheads.
And they were forbidden to injure the herbage of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree. They were only to injure human beings--those who have not the seal of God on their foreheads.
5 And it was given to them that they would not kill them, but that they would torture them for five months. And their torture was like the torture of a scorpion, when he strikes a man.
Their mission was not to kill, but to cause awful agony for five months; and this agony was like that which a scorpion inflicts when it stings a man.
6 And in those days, men will seek death and they will not find it. And they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
And at that time people will seek death, but will by no possibility find it, and will long to die, but death evades them.
7 And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle. And upon their heads were something like crowns similar to gold. And their faces were like the faces of men.
The appearance of the locusts was like that of horses equipped for war. On their heads they had wreaths which looked like gold.
8 And they had hair like the hair of women. And their teeth were like the teeth of lions.
Their faces seemed human and they had hair like women's hair, but their teeth resembled those of lions.
9 And they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the noise of their wings was like the noise of many running horses, rushing to battle.
They had breast-plates which seemed to be made of steel; and the noise caused by their wings was like that of a vast number of horses and chariots hurrying into battle.
10 And they had tails similar to scorpions. And there were stingers in their tails, and these had the power to harm men for five months.
They had tails like those of scorpions, and also stings; and in their tails lay their power of injuring mankind for five months.
11 And they had over them a king, the Angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Doom; in Greek, Destroyer; in Latin, Exterminator. (Abyssos g12)
The locusts had a king over them--the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is 'Abaddon,' while in the Greek he is called 'Apollyon.' (Abyssos g12)
12 One woe has gone out, but behold, there are still two woes approaching afterward.
The first woe is past; two other woes have still to come.
13 And the sixth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I heard a lone voice from the four horns of the golden altar, which is before the eyes of God,
The sixth angel blew his trumpet; and I heard a single voice speaking from among the horns of the golden incense altar which is in the presence of God.
14 saying to the sixth Angel who had the trumpet: “Release the four Angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates.”
It said to the sixth angel--the angel who had the trumpet, "Set at liberty the four angels who are prisoners near the great river Euphrates."
15 And the four Angels were released, who had been prepared for that hour, and day, and month, and year, in order to kill one third part of men.
And the four angels who had been kept in readiness for that hour, day, month, and year, were set at liberty, so that they might kill a third part of mankind.
16 And the number of the army of horsemen was two hundred million. For I heard their number.
The number of the cavalry was two hundred millions; I heard their number.
17 And I also saw the horses in the vision. And those who were sitting upon them had breastplates of fire and hyacinth and sulphur. And the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions. And from their mouths proceeded fire and smoke and sulphur.
And this was the appearance of the horses which I saw in my vision--and of their riders. The body-armour of the riders was red, blue and yellow; and the horses' heads were shaped like the heads of lions, while from their mouths there came fire and smoke and sulphur.
18 And one third part of men were slain by these three afflictions: by the fire and by the smoke and by the sulphur, which proceeded from their mouths.
By these three plagues a third part of mankind were destroyed--by the fire and the smoke, and by the sulphur which came from their mouths.
19 For the power of these horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails resemble serpents, having heads; and it is with these that they cause harm.
For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; their tails being like serpents, and having heads, and it is with them that they inflict injury.
20 And the rest of men, who were not slain by these afflictions, did not repent from the works of their hands, so that they would not worship demons, or idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.
But the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues, did not even then repent and leave the things they had made, so as to cease worshipping the demons, and the idols of gold and silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear, nor move.
21 And they did not repent from their murders, nor from their drugs, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.
Nor did they repent of their murders, their practice of magic, their fornication, or their thefts.
