< Psalms 88 >
1 A Canticle Psalm to the sons of Korah. Unto the end. For Mahalath, to answer the understanding of Heman the Ezrahite. O Lord, God of my salvation: I have cried out, day and night, in your presence.
Ko e Hiva pe ko e Saame ki he ngaahi foha ʻo Kola, ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Mahalati Leanoti, ko e akonaki ʻa Hemani ʻi he faʻahinga ʻo Esela. ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻeku moʻui, naʻaku tangi ʻi he ʻaho mo e pō ʻi ho ʻao:
2 Let my prayer enter in your sight. Incline your ear to my petition.
Tuku ke aʻu atu ʻeku lotu ki ho ʻao ke ke fofonga mai ki heʻeku tangi;
3 For my soul has been filled with evils, and my life has drawn near to Hell. (Sheol )
He ʻoku fonu hoku laumālie ʻi he mamahi: pea ʻoku fakaʻaʻau ʻeku moʻui ki he faʻitoka. (Sheol )
4 I am considered to be among those who will descend into the pit. I have become like a man without assistance,
ʻOku lau fakataha au mo kinautolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he luo: ʻoku ou hangē ha tangata ʻoku ʻikai hano mālohi:
5 idle among the dead. I am like the wounded sleeping in sepulchers, whom you no longer remember, and who have been repelled by your hand.
ʻO tauʻatāina mo e kakai mate, ʻo hangē ko e kakai kuo tāmateʻi ʻoku tokoto ʻi he faʻitoka, ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻikai te ke kei manatuʻi: pea kuo motuhi ʻakinautolu ʻe ho nima.
6 They have lain me in the lower pit: in dark places and in the shadow of death.
Kuo ke tuku au ʻi he luo taumamaʻo, ʻi he fakapoʻuli, ʻi he ngaahi loloto.
7 Your fury has been confirmed over me. And you have brought all your waves upon me.
ʻOku tataʻo mamafa ho houhau ʻiate au, pea kuo ke fakamamahiʻi au ʻaki hoʻo ngaahi peau kotoa pē. (Sila)
8 You have sent my acquaintances far from me. They have set me as an abomination to themselves. I was handed over, yet I did not depart.
Kuo ke fakamamaʻo atu hoku ngaahi kaumeʻa; kuo ke ngaohi au ko e meʻa fakalielia kiate kinautolu: kuo ʻākilotoa au, pea ʻoku ʻikai te u faʻa ʻalu atu.
9 My eyes languished before destitution. All day long, I cried out to you, O Lord. I stretched out my hands to you.
ʻOku vaivai hoku mata ko e meʻa ʻi he mamahi: ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ou ui kiate koe ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē, kuo u mafao atu hoku nima kiate koe.
10 Will you perform wonders for the dead? Or will physicians raise to life, and so confess to you?
Te ke fakahā ʻae ngaahi meʻa mana ki he mate? ʻE tuʻu hake ʻae mate ʻo fakafetaʻi kiate koe? (Sila)
11 Could anyone declare your mercy in the sepulcher, or your truth from within perdition?
ʻE fakahā atu ʻa hoʻo ʻaloʻofa ʻi he faʻitoka? Pe ko hoʻo moʻoni ʻi he fakaʻauha?
12 Will your wonders be known in the darkness, or your justice in the land of oblivion?
ʻE ʻiloʻi hoʻo ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ʻi he poʻuli? Mo hoʻo māʻoniʻoni ʻi he fonua ʻoe fakangalo?
13 And I have cried out to you, O Lord, and in early morning, my prayer will come before you.
Ka naʻaku tangi kiate koe, ʻE Sihova; pea ʻi he pongipongi ʻe aʻu atu kiate koe ʻeku lotu.
14 Lord, why do you reject my prayer? Why do you turn your face away from me?
ʻE Sihova, ko e hā ʻoku ke liʻaki ai ʻa hoku laumālie? Ko e hā ʻoku ke fufū ai ho fofonga ʻiate au?
15 I am poor, and I have been amid hardships from my youth. And, though I have been exalted, I am humbled and disturbed.
ʻOku ou mamahi, pea meimei mate talu ʻeku kei talavou: ʻi heʻeku kātaki hoʻo ngaahi meʻa fakailifia ʻoku ou feinga ai ʻaupito.
16 Your wrath has crossed into me, and your terrors have disturbed me.
Kuo lōfia au ʻe ho houhau lahi; kuo motuhi au ʻe hoʻo ngaahi fakailifia.
17 They have surrounded me like water, all day long. They have surrounded me, all at once.
Naʻa nau kāpui au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē ʻo hangē ko e vai; naʻa nau fakataha ʻo takatakai au.
18 Friend and neighbor, and my acquaintances, you have sent far away from me, away from misery.
Ko e kaumeʻaʻofa mo e kāinga kuo ke fakamamaʻo atu ʻiate au, mo hoku kaumeʻa ki he poʻuli.
