< Psalms 5 >

1 Unto the end. For her who pursues the inheritance. A Psalm of David. O Lord, listen closely to my words. Understand my outcry.
To the Chief Musician. For the Flutes. A Melody of David. To my words, give ear, O Yahweh, Understand thou my softly murmured prayer:
2 Attend to the voice of my prayer, my King and my God.
Attend to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for, unto thee, do I pray.
3 For to you, I will pray. In the morning, Lord, you will hear my voice.
O Yahweh! in the morning, shalt thou hear my voice, In the morning, will I set in order unto thee, and keep watch;
4 In the morning, I will stand before you, and I will see. For you are not a God who wills iniquity.
For, not a GOD finding pleasure in lawlessness, art thou, and wrong can be no guest of thine:
5 And the malicious will not dwell close to you, nor will the unjust endure before your eyes.
Boasters, shall not station themselves, before thine eyes, —Thou hatest all workers of iniquity:
6 You hate all who work iniquity. You will destroy all who speak a lie. The bloody and deceitful man, the Lord will abominate.
Thou wilt destroy them who speak falsehood, —The man of bloodshed and of deceit, Yahweh abhorreth.
7 But I am in the multitude of your mercy. I will enter your house. I will show adoration toward your holy temple, in your fear.
But, I, in the abounding of thy lovingkindness, will enter thy house, I will bow down towards thy holy temple, in reverence of thee:
8 Lord, lead me in your justice. Because of my enemies, direct my way in your sight.
O Yahweh! lead me in thy righteousness, because of mine adversaries, Make even, before me, thy way:
9 For there is no truth in their mouth: their heart is vain.
For in his mouth is nothing worthy of trust, Their inward purpose, is engulphing ruin, —An opened sepulchre, is their throat, With their tongue, speak they smooth things.
10 Their throat is an open sepulcher. They have acted deceitfully with their tongues. Judge them, O God. Let them fall by their own intentions: according to the multitude of their impiety, expel them. For they have provoked you, O Lord.
Declare them guilty, O God, Let them fall by their own counsels, —Into the throng of their own transgressions, thrust them down, For they have rebelled against thee: —
11 But let all those who hope in you rejoice. They will exult in eternity, and you will dwell in them. And all those who love your name will glory in you.
That all may rejoice who seek refuge in thee, to times age-abiding, may shout in triumph, that thou wilt protect them, and they may leap for joy in thee who are lovers of thy Name.
12 For you will bless the just. You have crowned us, O Lord, as if with a shield of your good will.
For, thou, wilt bless the righteous man, O Yahweh, As with an all-covering shield—with good pleasure, wilt thou encompass him.
