Psalms 36

1 Unto the end. To the servant of the Lord, David himself. The unjust one has said within himself that he would commit offenses. There is no fear of God before his eyes.

Dem Musikmeister; vom Knechte des Herrn, von David. Eingebung der Sünde beherrscht den Frevler,

2 For he has acted deceitfully in his sight, such that his iniquity will be found to be hatred.

denn sie verblendet ihn mit Schmeichelreden, daß er in Verschuldung gerät, indem er Haß ausübt.

3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit. He is unwilling to understand, so that he may act well.

Was er ausspricht, ist Unheil und Trug; aufgehört hat er, verständig zu sein, um gut zu handeln.

4 He has been considering iniquity on his bed. He has set himself on every way that is not good; moreover, he has not hated evil.

Unheil sinnt er auf seinem Lager, tritt hin auf den Weg der Bosheit, das Schlechte verabscheut er nicht.

5 Lord, your mercy is in heaven, and your truth is even to the clouds.

O HERR, bis zum Himmel reicht deine Gnade, deine Treue bis hin an die Wolken;

6 Your justice is like the mountains of God. Your judgments are a great abyss. Men and beasts, you will save, O Lord.

deine Gerechtigkeit steht fest wie die Gottesberge, deine Gerichte gleichen dem weiten Weltmeer; Menschen und Tieren hilfst du, o HERR.

7 How you have multiplied your mercy, O God! And so the sons of men will hope under the cover of your wings.

Wie köstlich ist deine Gnade, o Gott, daß Menschenkinder sich bergen im Schatten deiner Flügel!

8 They will be inebriated with the fruitfulness of your house, and you will give them to drink from the torrent of your enjoyment.

Sie laben sich an den reichen Gütern deines Hauses, und du tränkst sie mit dem Strom deiner Wonnen;

9 For with you is the fountain of life; and within your light, we will see the light.

denn bei dir ist der Brunnquell des Lebens, und in deinem Lichte schauen wir Licht.

10 Extend your mercy before those who know you, and your justice to these, who are upright in heart.

Erhalte deine Gnade denen, die dich kennen, und deine Gerechtigkeit den redlich Gesinnten!

11 May arrogant feet not approach me, and may the hand of the sinner not disturb me.

Laß den Fuß des Hochmuts mich nicht treten und die Hand der Frevler mich nicht vertreiben!

12 In that place, those who work iniquity have fallen. They have been expelled; they were not able to stand.

Einst werden die Übeltäter gefallen sein, niedergestürzt und können nicht wieder aufstehn.
