< Psalms 25 >

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David. To you, Lord, I have lifted up my soul.
By David. To you, LORD, I lift up my soul.
2 In you, my God, I trust. Let me not be put to shame.
My God, I have trusted in you. Do not let me be shamed. Do not let my enemies triumph over me.
3 And do not let my enemies laugh at me. For all who remain with you will not be confounded.
Yes, no one who waits for you will be shamed. They will be shamed who deal treacherously without cause.
4 May all those who act unjustly over nothing be confounded. O Lord, demonstrate your ways to me, and teach me your paths.
Show me your ways, LORD. Teach me your paths.
5 Direct me in your truth, and teach me. For you are God, my Savior, and I remain with you all day long.
Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation. I wait for you all day long.
6 O Lord, remember your compassion and your mercies, which are from ages past.
LORD, remember your tender mercies and your loving kindness, for they are from old times.
7 Do not remember the offenses of my youth and my ignorances. Remember me according to your mercy, because of your goodness, O Lord.
Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. Remember me according to your loving kindness, for your goodness’ sake, LORD.
8 The Lord is sweet and righteous. Because of this, he will grant a law to those who fall short in the way.
Good and upright is the LORD, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way.
9 He will direct the mild in judgment. He will teach the meek his ways.
He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way.
10 All the ways of the Lord are mercy and truth, to those who yearn for his covenant and his testimonies.
All the paths of the LORD are loving kindness and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 Because of your name, O Lord, you will pardon my sin, for it is great.
For your name’s sake, LORD, pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
12 Which is the man who fears the Lord? He has established a law for him, on the way that he has chosen.
What man is he who fears the LORD? He shall instruct him in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul will dwell upon good things, and his offspring will inherit the earth.
His soul will dwell at ease. His offspring will inherit the land.
14 The Lord is a firmament to those who fear him, and his covenant will be made manifest to them.
The friendship of the LORD is with those who fear him. He will show them his covenant.
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pull my feet from the snare.
My eyes are ever on the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Look upon me and have mercy on me; for I am alone and poor.
Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart have been multiplied. Deliver me from my needfulness.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Oh bring me out of my distresses.
18 See my lowliness and my hardship, and release all my offenses.
Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins.
19 Consider my enemies, for they have been multiplied, and they have hated me with an unjust hatred.
Consider my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with cruel hatred.
20 Preserve my soul and rescue me. I will not be ashamed, for I have hoped in you.
Oh keep my soul, and deliver me. Let me not be disappointed, for I take refuge in you.
21 The innocent and the righteous have adhered to me, because I have remained with you.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.
22 Free Israel, O God, from all his tribulations.
God, redeem Israel out of all his troubles.
