Psalms 132
1 A Canticle in steps. O Lord, remember David and all his meekness,
Ricordati, Signore, di Davide, di tutte le sue prove, Canto delle ascensioni.
2 how he swore to the Lord, how he made a vow to the God of Jacob:
quando giurò al Signore, al Potente di Giacobbe fece voto:
3 I shall not enter into the tabernacle of my house, nor climb into the bed where I lie down;
«Non entrerò sotto il tetto della mia casa, non mi stenderò sul mio giaciglio,
4 I shall not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids
non concederò sonno ai miei occhi né riposo alle mie palpebre,
5 and rest to my temples, until I find a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
finché non trovi una sede per il Signore, una dimora per il Potente di Giacobbe».
6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We discovered it in the fields of the forest.
Ecco, abbiamo saputo che era in Efrata, l'abbiamo trovata nei campi di Iàar.
7 We will enter into his tabernacle. We will adore in the place where his feet stood.
Entriamo nella sua dimora, prostriamoci allo sgabello dei suoi piedi.
8 Rise up, O Lord, into your resting place. You and the ark of your sanctification.
Alzati, Signore, verso il luogo del tuo riposo, tu e l'arca della tua potenza.
9 Let your priests be clothed with justice, and let your saints exult.
I tuoi sacerdoti si vestano di giustizia, i tuoi fedeli cantino di gioia.
10 For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your Christ.
Per amore di Davide tuo servo non respingere il volto del tuo consacrato.
11 The Lord has sworn the truth to David, and he will not disappoint: I will set upon your throne from the fruit of your lineage.
Il Signore ha giurato a Davide e non ritratterà la sua parola: «Il frutto delle tue viscere io metterò sul tuo trono!
12 If your sons will keep my covenant and these, my testimonies, which I will teach to them, then their sons will sit upon your throne even forever.
Se i tuoi figli custodiranno la mia alleanza e i precetti che insegnerò ad essi, anche i loro figli per sempre sederanno sul tuo trono».
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion. He has chosen it as his dwelling place.
Il Signore ha scelto Sion, l'ha voluta per sua dimora:
14 This is my resting place, forever and ever. Here I will dwell, for I have chosen it.
«Questo è il mio riposo per sempre; qui abiterò, perché l'ho desiderato.
15 When blessing, I will bless her widow. I will satisfy her poor with bread.
Benedirò tutti i suoi raccolti, sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will rejoice with great joy.
Rivestirò di salvezza i suoi sacerdoti, esulteranno di gioia i suoi fedeli.
17 There, I will produce a horn to David. There, I have prepared a lamp for my Christ.
Là farò germogliare la potenza di Davide, preparerò una lampada al mio consacrato.
18 I will clothe his enemies with confusion. But my sanctification will flourish over him.
Coprirò di vergogna i suoi nemici, ma su di lui splenderà la corona».
