Psalms 118

1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is forever.

Danket dem HERRN, denn er ist freundlich, ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!

2 Let Israel now say: For he is good, for his mercy is forever.

So bekenne denn Israel: »Ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!«

3 Let the house of Aaron now say: For his mercy is forever.

So bekenne denn Aarons Haus: »Ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!«

4 Let those who fear the Lord now say: For his mercy is forever.

So mögen denn alle Gottesfürcht’gen bekennen: »Ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade!«

5 In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord. And the Lord heeded me with generosity.

Aus meiner Bedrängnis rief ich zum HERRN: da hat der HERR mich erhört, mir weiten Raum geschafft.

6 The Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man can do to me.

Ist der HERR für mich, so fürchte ich nichts: was können Menschen mir tun?

7 The Lord is my helper. And I will look down upon my enemies.

Tritt der HERR für mich zu meiner Hilfe ein, so werde ich siegreich jubeln über meine Feinde.

8 It is good to trust in the Lord, rather than to trust in man.

Besser ist’s auf den HERRN vertrauen als auf Menschen sich verlassen;

9 It is good to hope in the Lord, rather than to hope in leaders.

besser ist’s auf den HERRN vertrauen als auf Fürsten sich verlassen.

10 All the nations have surrounded me. And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.

Die Heidenvölker alle hatten mich umringt: im Namen des HERRN, so vertilgte ich sie;

11 Surrounding me, they closed in on me. And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.

sie hatten mich umringt, umzingelt: im Namen des HERRN, so vertilgte ich sie;

12 They surrounded me like a swarm, and they burned like fire among the thorns. And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.

sie hatten mich umringt wie Bienenschwärme; schnell wie ein Dornenfeuer sind sie erloschen: im Namen des HERRN, so vertilgte ich sie.

13 Having been pushed, I was overturned so as to fall. But the Lord took me up.

Man hat mich hart gestoßen, damit ich fallen sollte, doch der HERR hat mir geholfen.

14 The Lord is my strength and my praise. And he has become my salvation.

Meine Stärke und mein Lobpreis ist der HERR, und er ist mein Retter geworden.

15 A voice of exultation and salvation is in the tabernacles of the just.

Jubel und Siegeslieder erschallen in den Zelten der Gerechten: »Die Hand des HERRN schafft mächtige Taten,

16 The right hand of the Lord has wrought virtue. The right hand of the Lord has exalted me. The right hand of the Lord has wrought virtue.

die Hand des HERRN erhöht, die Hand des HERRN schafft mächtige Taten!«

17 I will not die, but I will live. And I will declare the works of the Lord.

Ich werde nicht sterben, nein, ich werde leben und die Taten des HERRN verkünden.

18 When chastising, the Lord chastised me. But he has not delivered me over to death.

Der HERR hat mich hart gezüchtigt, doch dem Tode mich nicht preisgegeben.

19 Open the gates of justice to me. I will enter them, and I will confess to the Lord.

Öffnet mir die Tore der Gerechtigkeit: ich will durch sie eingehn, dem HERRN zu danken. –

20 This is the gate of the Lord. The just will enter by it.

Dies ist das Tor des HERRN: Gerechte dürfen hier eingehn. –

21 I will confess to you because you have heard me. And you have become my salvation.

Ich danke dir, daß du mich erhört hast und bist mir ein Retter geworden.

22 The stone which the builders have rejected, this has become the head of the corner.

Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, der ist zum Eckstein geworden;

23 By the Lord has this been done, and it is a wonder before our eyes.

vom HERRN ist dies geschehn, in unsern Augen ein Wunder!

24 This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us exult and rejoice in it.

Dies ist der Tag, den der HERR gemacht hat: laßt uns jubeln und fröhlich an ihm sein! –

25 O Lord, grant salvation to me. O Lord, grant good prosperity.

Ach hilf doch, HERR, ach, HERR, laß wohl gelingen! –

26 Blessed is he who arrives in the name of the Lord. We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.

Gesegnet sei, der da kommt im Namen des HERRN! Wir segnen euch vom Hause des HERRN aus.

27 The Lord is God, and he has enlightened us. Establish a solemn day amid a dense crowd, even to the horn of the altar.

Der HERR ist Gott, er hat uns Licht gegeben: schlinget den Reigen, mit Zweigen (geschmückt), bis an die Hörner des Altars!

28 You are my God, and I will confess to you. You are my God, and I will exalt you. I will confess to you, for you have heeded me. And you have become my salvation.

Du bist mein Gott, ich will dir danken; mein Gott, ich will dich erheben!

29 Confess to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is forever.

Danket dem HERRN, denn er ist freundlich, ja, ewiglich währt seine Gnade.
