Proverbs 21
1 Just as with the dividing of the waters, so also is the heart of the king in the hand of the Lord. He shall bend it whichever way he wills.
രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കൈയിലെ നീർച്ചാലാണ്; തനിക്കിഷ്ടമുള്ള ദിക്കിലേക്ക് അവിടന്ന് അതിനെ തിരിച്ചുവിടുന്നു.
2 Every way of a man seems right to himself. But the Lord weighs hearts.
ഓരോ മനുഷ്യരും തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികൾ ശരിയാണ് എന്നു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ യഹോവ ഹൃദയം തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.
3 To do mercy and judgment is more pleasing to the Lord than sacrifices.
ന്യായവും നീതിയുക്തവുമായ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ് യഹോവയ്ക്കു യാഗാർപ്പണത്തെക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ സ്വീകാര്യം.
4 To lift up the eyes is to enlarge the heart. The lamp of the impious is sin.
അഹന്തനിറഞ്ഞ കണ്ണും നിഗളമുള്ള ഹൃദയവും— ദുഷ്ടരുടെ ഉഴുതുമറിക്കാത്ത നിലവും—പാപം ഉൽപ്പാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
5 The intentions of the robust continually bring forth abundance. But all the lazy are continually in need.
ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ പദ്ധതികൾ ലാഭത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു, ധൃതികാട്ടുന്നത് ദാരിദ്ര്യത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കും, നിശ്ചയം.
6 Whoever gathers treasures by a lying tongue is vain and heartless. And he will stumble into the snares of death.
വ്യാജനാവുകൊണ്ട് കെട്ടിപ്പൊക്കിയ സൗഭാഗ്യങ്ങളെല്ലാം ക്ഷണികമായ നീരാവിയും മരണക്കെണിയുമാണ്.
7 The robberies of the impious will drag them down, because they were not willing to do judgment.
ദുഷ്ടരുടെ അതിക്രമം അവരെ ദൂരത്തേക്കു വലിച്ചിഴയ്ക്കും, കാരണം നീതിനിഷ്ഠമായവ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ അവർക്കു മനസ്സില്ല.
8 The perverse way of a man is foreign. But whoever is pure: his work is upright.
അധർമം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മാർഗം വക്രതയുള്ളതാണ്, എന്നാൽ നിഷ്കളങ്കരുടെ പ്രവർത്തനമോ, നേരുള്ളത്.
9 It is better to sit in a corner of the attic, than with a contentious woman and in a shared house.
കലഹക്കാരിയായ ഭാര്യയോടൊത്ത് വീടിനുള്ളിൽ കഴിയുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ മേൽപ്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നതു നല്ലത്.
10 The soul of the impious desires evil; he will not take pity on his neighbor.
ദുഷ്ടർ തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ ആർത്തികാട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ അയൽവാസിക്ക് അവരിൽനിന്നു യാതൊരുവിധ കരുണയും ലഭിക്കുന്നില്ല.
11 When the pestilent is punished, a little one will become wiser. And if he pursues what is wise, he will receive knowledge.
പരിഹാസി ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ, ലളിതമാനസർ ജ്ഞാനം നേടുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിക്കുക, അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനം ആർജിക്കുന്നു.
12 The just thinks carefully about the house of the impious, so that he may draw the impious away from evil.
നീതിമാനായവൻ ദുഷ്ടരുടെ ഭവനത്തെ നിരീക്ഷിക്കുകയും ദുഷ്ടരെ ദുരന്തത്തിലേക്കു തള്ളിയിടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
13 Whoever blocks his ears to the outcry of the poor shall also cry out himself, and he will not be heeded.
ദരിദ്രരുടെ നിലവിളിക്കുനേരേ ചെവിയടച്ചുകളയുന്നവരുടെ രോദനത്തിനും ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കുകയില്ല.
14 A surprise gift extinguishes anger. And a gift concealed in the bosom extinguishes the greatest indignation.
രഹസ്യത്തിൽ കൈമാറുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെ ശാന്തമാക്കുന്നു; വസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന കോഴ ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും.
15 It is gladness for the just to do judgment; and it is dread for those who work iniquity.
നീതി നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നത് നീതിനിഷ്ഠർക്ക് ആനന്ദംനൽകുന്നു, എന്നാൽ നീചർക്ക് അതു നടുക്കവും.
16 A man who wanders astray from the way of doctrine will linger in the company of the giants.
വിവേകപാതയിൽനിന്ന് വ്യതിചലിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ മരിച്ചവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ വിശ്രമത്തിനായി വന്നുചേരുന്നു.
17 Whoever loves a feast will be in deprivation. Whoever loves wine and fatness will not be enriched.
സുഖലോലുപത ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർ ദരിദ്രരായിത്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും സുഗന്ധതൈലവും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർ ഒരിക്കലും സമ്പന്നരാകുകയില്ല.
18 The impious is given over instead of the just, and the iniquitous is given over in place of the upright.
ദുഷ്ടർ നീതിനിഷ്ഠർക്കു മോചനദ്രവ്യമായിത്തീരും; വഞ്ചകർ പരമാർഥിക്കും.
19 It is better to live in a deserted land, than with a quarrelsome and emotional woman.
കലഹക്കാരിയും മുൻകോപിയുമായ ഭാര്യയോടൊപ്പം ജീവിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ, മരുഭൂമിയിൽ കഴിയുന്നതാണ് ഉത്തമം.
20 There is desirable treasure, as well as oil, in the habitations of the just. And the imprudent man will waste it.
ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ഭവനത്തിൽ വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ട്, എന്നാൽ ഭോഷർ തങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയുന്നു.
21 Whoever follows justice and mercy shall discover life, justice, and glory.
നീതിയും സ്നേഹവും പിൻതുടരുന്നവർ ജീവനും നീതിയും ബഹുമാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.
22 The wise has ascended the city of the strong, and he has torn down the bulwark of its confidence.
ജ്ഞാനിക്ക് ശക്തന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണം ആക്രമിക്കാൻ കഴിയും; അവരുടെ ആശ്രയമായിരുന്ന കോട്ട ഇടിച്ചുനിരത്താനും.
23 Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue guards his soul from anguish.
സ്വന്തം നാവും സ്വന്തം വായും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ ദുരന്തങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ അകന്നുനിൽക്കുന്നു.
24 A proud and arrogant one is also called ignorant, if he, in anger, acts according to pride.
അഹങ്കാരിയും ധിക്കാരിയുമായ മനുഷ്യൻ—അയാൾക്കു “പരിഹാസി” എന്നു പേര്— മഹാഗർവത്തോടെ പെരുമാറുന്നു.
25 Desires kill the lazy, for his hands are not willing to work at all.
അലസരുടെ അഭിലാഷം അവരെ മരണത്തിന് ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു, കാരണം അവരുടെ കൈകൾ അധ്വാനം നിരസിക്കുന്നു.
26 He covets and desires all day long. But whoever is just shall distribute and shall not cease.
ദിവസംമുഴുവനും അയാൾ അത്യാർത്തിയോടെ കഴിയുന്നു. എന്നാൽ നീതിനിഷ്ഠരോ, ഒന്നും പിടിച്ചുവെക്കാതെ ദാനംചെയ്യുന്നു.
27 The sacrifices of the impious are abominable, because they are offered out of wickedness.
ദുഷ്ടരുടെ യാഗാർപ്പണം നിന്ദ്യമാണ്— ദുഷ്ടലാക്കോടെയാണ് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതെങ്കിൽ എത്രയധികം!
28 A lying witness will perish. An obedient man shall speak of victory.
കള്ളസാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും, എന്നാൽ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേൾക്കുന്നവരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ നിരന്തരം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെടും.
29 The impious man insolently hardens his face. But whoever is upright corrects his own way.
ദുഷ്ടർ തങ്ങളുടെ മുഖത്ത് ധൈര്യം പ്രകടമാക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികൾ ആലോചിച്ചുറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
30 There is no wisdom, there is no prudence, there is no counsel, which is against the Lord.
യഹോവയ്ക്കെതിരേ നിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്ന യാതൊരുവിധ ജ്ഞാനമോ ഉൾക്കാഴ്ചയോ പദ്ധതികളോ ഇല്ല.
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle. But the Lord bestows salvation.
യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിനായി കുതിരയെ സജ്ജമാക്കി നിർത്തുന്നു, എന്നാൽ വിജയത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം യഹോവയാകുന്നു.
