Numbers 33
1 These are the lodging places of the sons of Israel, who departed from Egypt by their companies under the hand of Moses and Aaron,
Voici l’itinéraire des enfants d’Israël, depuis qu’ils furent sortis du pays d’Egypte, selon leurs légions, sous la conduite de Moïse et d’Aaron.
2 which Moses wrote down according to the places of the encampments, which they changed upon the order of the Lord.
Moïse inscrivit leurs départs et leurs stations sur l’ordre de l’Éternel; voici donc leurs stations et leurs départs:
3 Thus the sons of Israel set out from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month, on the day after the Passover, with an exalted hand, being seen by all the Egyptians.
ils partirent de Ramsès dans le premier mois, le quinzième jour du premier mois; le lendemain de la Pâque, les enfants d’Israël sortirent, triomphants, à la vue de toute l’Egypte,
4 And these were burying their firstborn, whom the Lord had struck down (for so, too, did he carry out retribution against their gods).
tandis que les Egyptiens ensevelissaient ceux que l’Éternel avait frappés parmi eux, tous les premiers-nés, l’Éternel faisant ainsi justice de leurs divinités.
5 And they made camp at Soccoth.
Partis de Ramsès, les enfants d’Israël s’arrêtèrent à Soukkot.
6 And from Soccoth they went to Etham, which is at the furthest limits of the wilderness.
Ils repartirent de Soukkot et se campèrent à Ethâm, situé sur la lisière du désert.
7 Departing from there, they arrived opposite Pi-hahiroth, which looks out toward Baal-zephon, and they were encamped before Migdol.
Puis ils partirent d’Ethâm, rebroussèrent vers Pi-Hahirot, qui fait face à Baal-Cefôn, et campèrent devant Migdol.
8 And setting out from Pi-hahiroth, they crossed through the middle of the Sea into the wilderness. And having walked for three days through the desert of Etham, they made camp at Marah.
Ils partirent de devant Pi-Hahirot, se dirigèrent, en traversant la mer, vers le désert, et après une marche de trois journées dans le désert d’Ethâm, s’arrêtèrent à Mara.
9 And setting out from Marah, they arrived at Elim, where there were twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees. And they set up camp there.
Partis de Mara, ils arrivèrent à Elim. Or, à Elim étaient douze sources d’eau et soixante-dix palmiers, et ils s’y campèrent.
10 But departing from there also, they fixed their tents above the Red Sea. And setting out from the Red Sea,
Puis ils repartirent d’Elim, et campèrent près de la mer des Joncs.
11 they were encamped in the desert of Sin.
Ils repartirent de la mer des Joncs et campèrent dans le désert de Sîn.
12 Departing from there, they went to Dophkah.
Ils repartirent du désert de Sîn, et campèrent à Dofka.
13 And setting out from Dophkah, they made camp at Alush.
Ils repartirent de Dofka, et campèrent à Alouch.
14 And departing from Alush, they fixed their tents at Rephidim, where the people lacked water to drink.
Ils repartirent d’Alouch, et campèrent à Rephidîm, où il n’y eut point d’eau à boire pour le peuple.
15 And setting out from Rephidim, they camped in the desert of Sinai.
IIs repartirent de Rephidîm, et campèrent dans le désert de Sinaï.
16 But departing also from the wilderness of the Sinai, they arrived at the Graves of Lust.
Ils repartirent du désert de Sinaï, et campèrent à Kibroth-Hattaava.
17 And setting out from the Graves of Lust, they were encamped at Hazeroth.
Ils repartirent de Kibroth-Hattaava, et campèrent à Hacêroth.
18 And from Hazeroth, they went to Rithmah.
Ils repartirent de Hacêroth, et campèrent à Rithma.
19 And setting out from Rithmah, they made camp at Rimmon-perez.
Ils repartirent de Rithma, et campèrent à Rimmôn-Péreç.
20 And departing from there, they arrived at Libnah.
Ils repartirent de Rimmôn-Péreç, et campèrent à Libna,
21 From Libnah, they made camp at Rissah.
Ils repartirent de Libna, et campèrent à Rissa.
22 And departing from Rissah, they went to Kehelathah.
Ils repartirent de Rissa, et campèrent à Kehêlatha.
23 Setting out from there, they were encamped at mount Shepher.
Ils repartirent de Kehêlatha, et campèrent au mont Chéfer.
24 Departing from mount Shepher, they went to Haradah.
Ils repartirent du mont Chéfer, et campèrent à Harada.
25 Continuing on from there, they made camp at Makheloth.
Ils repartirent de Harada, et campèrent à Makhêloth.
26 And setting out from Makheloth, they went to Tahath.
Ils repartirent de Makhêloth, et campèrent à Tahath.
27 From Tahath, they made camp at Terah.
Ils repartirent de Tahath, et campèrent à Térah.
28 Departing from there, they pitched their tents at Mithkah.
Ils repartirent de Térah, et campèrent à Mitka.
29 And from Mithkah, they were encamped at Hashmonah.
Ils repartirent de Mitka, et campèrent à Haschmona.
30 And setting out from Hashmonah, they went to Moseroth.
Ils repartirent de Haschmona, et campèrent à Mossêroth.
31 And from Moseroth, they made camp at Bene-jaakan.
Ils repartirent de Mossêroth, et campèrent à Benê-Yaakan.
32 And setting out from Bene-jaakan, they went to mount Gidgad.
Ils repartirent de Benê-Yaakan, et campèrent à Hor-Haghidgad.
33 Setting out from there, they were encamped at Jotbathah.
Ils repartirent de Hor-Haghidgad, et campèrent à Yotbatha.
34 And from Jotbathah, they went to Abronah.
IIs repartirent de Yotbatha, et campèrent à Abrona.
35 And departing from Abronah, they made camp at Eziongeber.
Ils repartirent d’Abrona, et campèrent à Asiongaber.
36 Setting out from there, they went into the desert of Sin, which is Kadesh.
Ils repartirent d’Asiongaber, et campèrent au désert de Cîn, c’est-à-dire à Kadêch.
37 And departing from Kadesh, they encamped at mount Hor, at the furthermost limits of the land of Edom.
Ils repartirent de Kadêch et campèrent à Hor-la-Montagne, à l’extrémité du pays d’Edom.
38 And Aaron the priest ascended onto mount Hor, by the order of the Lord. And there he died, in the fortieth year of the departure of the sons of Israel from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month,
Aaron, le pontife, monta sur cette montagne par ordre de l’Éternel, et y mourut. C’Était la quarantième année du départ des Israélites du pays d’Egypte, le premier jour du cinquième mois.
39 when he was one hundred twenty-three years old.
Aaron avait cent vingt-trois ans lorsqu’il mourut à Hor-la-Montagne.
40 And king Arad the Canaanite, who lived toward the south, heard that the sons of Israel had arrived in the land of Canaan.
C’Est alors que le Cananéen, roi d’Arad, qui habitait au midi du pays de Canaan, apprit l’arrivée des enfants d’Israël.
41 And setting out from mount Hor, they made camp at Zalmonah.
Puis, ils partirent de Hor-la-Montagne, et vinrent camper à Çalmona.
42 Departing from there, they went to Punon.
Ils repartirent de Çalmona, et campèrent à Pounôn.
43 And setting out from Punon, they were encamped at Oboth.
Ils repartirent de Pounôn, et campèrent à Oboth.
44 And from Oboth, they went to Iye-abarim, which is at the borders of the Moabites.
Ils repartirent d’Oboth et campèrent à lyyê-Haabarîm, vers les confins de Moab.
45 And setting out from Iye-abarim, they fixed their tents at Dibon-gad.
Ils repartirent d’Iyyîm, et campèrent à Dibôn-Gad.
46 Departing from there, they made camp at Almon-diblathaim.
Ils repartirent de Dibôn-Gad, et campèrent à Almôn-Diblathayim.
47 And departing from Almon-diblathaim, they went to the mountains of Abarim, opposite Nebo.
Ils repartirent d’Almôn-Diblathayim et campèrent parmi les monts Abarim, en face de Nébo.
48 And setting out from the mountains of Abarim, they crossed over to the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
Ils repartirent des monts Abarîm et campèrent dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain qui est vers Jéricho.
49 And they made camp there, from Beth-jeshimoth all the way to Abel-shittim, in the level places of the Moabites,
Ils occupaient la rive du Jourdain, depuis Bêth-Hayechimoth jusqu’à Abêl-Hachittîm, dans les plaines de Moab.
50 where the Lord said to Moses:
L’Éternel parla ainsi à Moïse dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain vers Jéricho:
51 “Instruct the sons of Israel, and say to them: When you will have crossed over the Jordan, entering into the land of Canaan,
"Parle aux enfants d’Israël en ces termes: Comme vous allez passer le Jourdain pour atteindre le pays de Canaan,
52 destroy all the inhabitants of that land. Break their monuments, and shatter their statues, and lay waste to every exalted thing,
quand vous aurez chassé devant vous tous les habitants de ce pays, vous anéantirez tous leurs symboles, toutes leurs idoles de métal, et ruinerez tous leurs hauts-lieux.
53 cleansing the land and living in it. For I have given it you as a possession,
Vous conquerrez ainsi le pays et vous vous y établirez; car c’est à vous que je le donne à titre de possession.
54 which you shall divide among you by lot. To the greater number you shall give more, and to the lesser number, less. To each one, just as the lot shall fall, so shall the inheritance be distributed. The possession shall be divided by the tribes and families.
Vous lotirez ce pays, par la voie du sort, entre vos familles, donnant toutefois aux plus nombreux un plus grand patrimoine et aux moins nombreux un patrimoine moindre, chacun recevant ce que lui aura attribué le sort; c’est dans vos tribus paternelles que vous aurez vos lots respectifs.
55 But if you are not willing to put to death the inhabitants of the land, those who remain shall be to you like spikes in your eyes and lances in your sides, and they shall be adversaries to you in the land of your habitation.
Or, si vous ne dépossédez pas à votre profit tous les habitants de ce pays, ceux que vous aurez épargnés seront comme des épines dans vos yeux et comme des aiguillons à vos flancs: ils vous harcèleront sur le territoire que vous occuperez;
56 And whatever I had decided to do to them, I will do to you.”
et alors, ce que j’ai résolu de leur faire, je le ferai à vous-mêmes."
