< Numbers 31 >

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Mgbe ahụ, Onyenwe anyị gwara Mosis okwu sị ya,
2 “First, avenge the sons of Israel from the Midianites, and then you shall be gathered to your people.”
“Taa ndị Midia ahụhụ, ka i si otu a bọọrọ ndị Izrel ọbọ ihe ọjọọ ndị Midia mere ha. Mgbe i mesịrị nke a, ị ga-anwụ.”
3 And immediately Moses said: “Arm the men among you for a battle, so that they may be able to fulfill the retribution of the Lord on the Midianites.
Ya mere, Mosis gwara ndị Izrel okwu sị, “Kwadoonụ ndị ikom unu ibuso ndị Midia agha, maka ịbọtara Onyenwe anyị ọbọ.
4 Let one thousand men be chosen from each tribe of Israel, who shall be sent to war.”
Sinụ nʼebo ọbụla dị nʼIzrel gụpụta puku ndị ikom puku ndị ikom.”
5 And they gave one thousand from each tribe, that is, twelve thousand foot soldiers for battle.
Ya mere, e sitere nʼigwe ndị ikom niile nọ nʼIzrel zipụ puku ndị ikom iri na abụọ, ka ha gaa buo agha. Ebo ọbụla zipụrụ otu puku ndị ikom.
6 And Moses sent them with Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest; also, he delivered to him the holy vessels, and the trumpets to sound.
Mosis zipụrụ ha ibu agha, otu puku, otu puku site nʼebo ọbụla. Finehaz nwa Elieza, onye nchụaja, du ha gaa agha ahụ. O bu ngwongwo si nʼebe nsọ, tinyere opi ike nke a ga-afụ.
7 And when they had fought against the Midianites and had prevailed, they killed all the men.
Ha busoro ndị Midia agha dịka Onyenwe anyị nyere Mosis nʼiwu. Ha gburu onye ọbụla bụ nwoke.
8 And they put to death by the sword their kings: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five leaders of the nation, and also Balaam the son of Beor.
Nʼime ndị ha gburu nʼagha ahụ bụ ndị eze Midia ise a na-akpọ Evi, Rekem, Zua, Hua na Reba. Ha jikwa mma agha gbuo Belam nwa Beoa.
9 And they seized their women and little ones, and all their cattle, and all their goods; whatever they were able to have, they despoiled.
Ndị agha Izrel chịkọtara ndị inyom niile, na ụmụntakịrị niile nọ nʼala Midia dịka ndị ha dọtara nʼagha. Ha chịkọtara ngwongwo niile ndị Midia ji biri, tinyere igwe ehi, na igwe ewu na atụrụ ha niile, dịka ihe ha dọtara nʼagha.
10 Both their cities and their villages, as well as their fortresses, they burned.
Emesịa, ha mụnyere ọkụ nʼobodo ndị Midia niile na ebe ha mara ụlọ ikwu, rechapụ ha nʼọkụ.
11 And they carried away prey from everything that they had seized, both of men and of beasts.
Ha chịkọtara ihe niile ha dọtara nʼagha, ma mmadụ ma anụ ụlọ.
12 And they led these to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and to all the multitude of the sons of Israel. But the remainder of the articles they carried to the camp on the plains of Moab, next to the Jordan, opposite Jericho.

14 And Moses, being angry with the leaders of the army, and the tribunes, and the centurions, who had arrived from the battle,
Ma Mosis were iwe megide ndịisi agha, ya bụ ndị ahụ na-achị imerime puku ndị agha, na ndị ọchịagha na-achị narị ndị agha, ndị si ibu agha lọta.
15 said: “Why have you spared the females?
Mosis jụrụ ha sị, “Gịnị mere unu ji debe ndị inyom niile ndị a ndụ?
16 Are not these the ones who deceived the sons of Israel at the suggestion of Balaam, and who caused you betray the Lord by the sin of Peor, because of which the people also were struck down?

17 Therefore, put to death all of them: whatever is of the male sex, even among the little ones, and cut the throats of those women who have known men by sexual relations.

Debekwanụ uwe niile ọcha, ya na ihe niile e ji akpụkpọ anụ na ajị ewu, maọbụ osisi, mee.”
21 Likewise, Eleazar the priest spoke in this manner to the men of the army who had fought: “This is the precept of the law, which the Lord has commanded Moses:
Mgbe ahụ, Elieza onye nchụaja gwara ndị ikom niile ahụ jere agha okwu sị ha, “Nke a bụ iwu Onyenwe anyị nyere Mosis.

25 And the Lord also said to Moses:
Ma Onyenwe anyị sịrị Mosis,
26 “Take the sum of those things which were captured, from man even to beast, you and Eleazar the priest, and the leaders of the common people.
“Gị na Elieza onye nchụaja, na ndịisi ezinaụlọ nke ọgbakọ Izrel niile, ga-agụkọ ihe niile unu dọtara nʼagha chọpụta ọnụọgụgụ mmadụ na anụmanụ.
27 And you shall divide the prey equally, among those who went out to war and fought, and among the remainder of the multitude.

28 And you shall separate a portion for the Lord from the portion of those who fought and were in the battle: one soul out of five hundred, as much from humans, as from oxen and donkeys and sheep.
29 And you shall give it to Eleazar the priest, because these are the first-fruits of the Lord.

30 Likewise, from the half of the portion belonging to the sons of Israel, you shall receive the fiftieth head of humans, and of oxen, and donkeys, and sheep, and of all living things, and you shall give these to the Levites who stand watch over the care of the tabernacle of the Lord.”
Otu aka ahụ kwa, site nʼoke ndị Izrel ga-eketa, kee ụtụ. Otu ụzọ nʼime iri ise, maọbụ mmadụ, maọbụ ehi, maọbụ ịnyịnya ibu, maọbụ atụrụ, maọbụ ewu, maọbụ igwe anụ ụlọ ụzọ. Were ha nye ndị Livayị, ndị ọ dị nʼaka ilekọta ụlọ nzute Onyenwe anyị, ka ọ bụrụ oke nke ha.”
31 And Moses and Eleazar did just as the Lord had instructed.
Ya mere, Mosis na Elieza onye nchụaja mere dịka Onyenwe anyị nyere ha nʼiwu.
32 Now the prey which the army had seized was six hundred seventy-five thousand sheep,
Ihe nweta bụ nke fọdụrụ nʼihe ndị agha lụtara nʼagha bụ ndị a, bụ atụrụ dị narị puku isii, iri puku asaa na puku ise,
