1 And Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars here for me, and prepare as many calves, and the same number of rams.”
Balaam gblɔ na Fia Balak be, “Tu vɔsamlekpui adre ɖe afi sia, eye nàdi nyitsuvi adre kple agbo adre na vɔsawo.”
2 And when he had acted according to the words of Balaam, they placed a calf and a ram together on each altar.
Balak wɔ ɖe Balaam ƒe ɖoɖowo dzi, eye wòtsɔ nyitsuvi ɖeka kple agbo ɖeka sa vɔe ɖe vɔsamlekpuiawo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe dzi.
3 And Balaam said to Balak: “Stand for a little while next to your holocaust, until I go, to see if perhaps the Lord will meet with me. And whatever he will command, I shall speak to you.”
Balaam gblɔ na Balak be, “Nɔ afi sia le wò numevɔsa gbɔ esime meɖe kpɔ. Ɖewohĩ Yehowa ava do gom. Nu sia nu si wòaɖe afiam la, magblɔe na wò.” Ale wòyi togbɛ ƒeƒle aɖe dzi.
4 And after he had quickly departed, God met with him. And Balaam, speaking to him, said: “I have set up seven altars, and I have placed a calf and a ram on each.”
Mawu do goe, eye Balaam gblɔ nɛ be, “Metu vɔsamlekpui adre, eye metsɔ nyitsu ɖeka kple agbo ɖeka sa vɔe ɖe vɔsamlekpui ɖe sia ɖe dzi.”
5 Then the Lord placed the word in his mouth, and he said: “Return to Balak, and you shall say this.”
Yehowa gblɔ nya aɖe na Balaam be wòagblɔ na Fia Balak.
6 Returning, he found Balak standing next to his holocaust, with all the leaders of the Moabites.
Esi Balaam trɔ gbɔ la, fia la kple Moab fiaviwo katã wonɔ tsitre ɖe numevɔsawo gbɔ.
7 And taking up his parable, he said: “Balak, king of the Moabites, has led me from Aram, from the mountains of the east. ‘Come forth,’ he said, ‘and curse Jacob. Hurry and condemn Israel.’
Nya siwo Balaam gblɔ la woe nye: “Fia Balak, Moabtɔwo ƒe fia, kplɔm tso Aramnyigba dzi, tso ɣedzeƒetowo dzi hegblɔ nam be. ‘Va, nàƒo fi ade Yakob nam! Eye va nàdo ɖiŋu na Israel nam. Wò dɔmedzoe nabi ɖe Israel ŋu.’
8 How shall I curse him, whom God has not cursed? For what reason would I condemn him, whom the Lord does not condemn?
Ke ame siwo Mawu meƒo fi de o la, aleke nye ya maƒo fi ade woe? Ame siwo gbɔ Yehowa megbe nu le o la, aleke nye ya magbe nu le wo gbɔe?
9 I will look upon him from the tops of the stones, and I will consider him from the hills. This people shall dwell alone, and they shall not be counted among the nations.
Mele wo kpɔm tso agakpe tame. Melé ŋku ɖe wo ŋu tso togbɛwo dzi, wole wo ɖokui si, nye dukɔ tɔxɛ aɖe. Si mebua eɖokui kple dukɔ bubuwo o.
10 Who can number the dust that is Jacob, and who can know the number of the stock of Israel? May my soul die a just death, and may my end be like theirs.”
Ame ka ate ŋu axlẽ Yakob ƒe ʋuʋudedi, alo axlẽ Israel ƒe akpa enelia? Na maku ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe ku, eye nye nuwuwu nanɔ abe wo tɔ ene!”
11 And Balak said to Balaam: “What is this that you are doing? I called for you, in order to curse my enemies, and to the contrary, you bless them.”
Fia Balak bia Balaam be, “Ao! Nu kae nye esi nèwɔm? Mebe nàƒo fi ade nye futɔwo nam, ke kpɔ ɖa, èyra wo boŋ!”
12 He answered him, “How can I say anything other than what the Lord orders?”
Balaam ɖo eŋu be, “Ɖe mate ŋu agblɔ nya aɖe ne Yehowa megblɔe nam be magblɔ oa?”
13 Therefore, Balak said: “Come with me to another place, from where you may see a portion of Israel, though you cannot see them all. Curse them from there.”
Balak gblɔ nɛ be, “Va míyi teƒe bubu. Le afi ma la, àkpɔ Israel dukɔ la ƒe akpa aɖe ko. Ƒo fi de ame mawo ɖeɖe ko nam!”
14 And when he had led him to a lofty place, on the top of mount Pisgah, Balaam built seven altars, and placing upon each a calf and a ram,

15 he said to Balak, “Stand here next to your holocaust, while I continue on to meet him.”
Balaam gblɔ na Balak be, “Tsi tsitre ɖe afi sia, ɖe wò numevɔsa la gbɔ ne mayi aɖado go Yehowa.”
16 And when the Lord had met him, and had put the word in his mouth, he said, “Return to Balak, and you shall say this to him.”
Yehowa do go Balaam, eye wòde nya asi nɛ be, “Trɔ yi Balak gbɔ nàgblɔ nya sia nɛ.”
17 Returning, he found him standing next to his holocaust, and the leaders of the Moabites were with him. And Balak said to him, “What has the Lord spoken?”
Balaam trɔ va afi si Moab fia kple Moab fiaviŋutsuwo le tsitre ɖe woƒe numevɔsawo gbɔ le. Balak bia enumake be, “Nya ka Yehowa gblɔ?”
18 But, taking up his parable, he said: “Stand, Balak, and pay attention. Listen, you son of Zippor.
Balaam ɖo eŋu be, “Balak, Tsi tsitre eye nàsee: Ɖo tom, wò Zipɔr ƒe vi.
19 God is not like a man, so that he would lie, nor is he like a son of man, so that he would be changed. Therefore, having spoken, will he not act? Has he ever spoken, and not fulfilled?
Mawu menye amegbetɔ, aka aʋatso o. Metrɔa eƒe tameɖoɖo. Abe amegbetɔwo ene o. Ɖe wòdo ŋugbe kpɔ gbe edziwɔwɔa?
20 I was led here to bless, and I have no strength to hinder the blessing.
Kpɔ ɖa, Mawu ɖe gbe nam be mayra Israelviwo. Mawu ŋutɔ yra wo xoxo, nyemate ŋu aklo yayra sia ɖa o!
21 There is no idol in Jacob; neither is there a false image to be seen in Israel. The Lord his God is with him, and the resound of royal victory is in him.
“Mekpɔ nu vɔ̃ le Yakob me o: mawɔ funyafunya Israel o! Yehowa, woƒe Mawu la li kpli wo. Eye dzidzɔɣli le wo nu, eyae nye woƒe fia!
22 God has led him away from Egypt; his strength is like that of the rhinoceros.
Mawu kplɔ wo tso Egipte; Israel sẽ abe to ene. Fiƒode aɖeke mate ŋu anɔ Yakob dzi o,
23 There is no soothsaying in Jacob, nor any divination in Israel. In their times, it shall be told to Jacob and to Israel what God has wrought.
dzoka maɖi Yakob ŋu o. Ne wosa vɔ kɔ ɖe Israelviwo dzi hã la, maɖi wo ŋu akpɔ o, elabena woagblɔ le Israel ŋu azɔ be, ‘Mawu wɔ nu gãwo na wo!
24 Behold, the people will rise up like a lioness, and lie down like a lion. But they will not lie down until they devour the prey and drink the blood of the slain.”
Ame siawo tsi tsitre abe dzatanɔ ene; womamlɔ anyi o. Va se ɖe esime woaɖu nu si wolé. Eye woano nu si wolé la ƒe ʋu!’”
25 And Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse him, nor bless him.”
Balak blu ɖe Balaam ta be, “Ne mànya ƒo fi ade wo o ko la, ekema mègayra wo hã o!”
26 And he said, “Have I not told you that whatever God would command of me, I would do?”
Balaam ɖo eŋu be, “Ɖe nyemegblɔe na wò be nya sia nya si Yehowa agblɔ nam be magblɔ la ko wòle be magblɔ oa?”
27 And Balak said to him: “Come and I will lead you to another place. If perhaps it may please God, then you may curse them from there.”
Balak gagblɔ na Balaam le eƒe nyagblɔɖi etɔ̃lia ŋu be, “Makplɔ wò agayi teƒe bubu aɖee. Ɖewohĩ adze Mawu ŋu be wòana nàƒo fi ade wo tso afi ma azɔ.”
28 And when he had led him on to the top of mount Peor, which looks out toward the wilderness,

29 Balaam said to him, “Build seven altars here for me, and prepare as many calves, and the same number of rams.”

30 Balak did as Balaam had said, and he placed on each altar a calf and a ram.
Balak wɔ nu si Balaam ɖo nɛ la, eye wòtsɔ nyitsuvi ɖeka kple agbo ɖeka sa vɔe ɖe vɔsamlekpuiawo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe dzi.
