Nehemiah 12
1 Now these are the priests and the Levites who ascended with Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

7 These were the leaders of the priests and of their brothers, in the days of Jeshua.
Sellum, Amoc, Helcias, Idaïas. Ce furent là les chefs des prêtres et de leurs frères au temps de Josué.
8 And the Levites, Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, Mattaniah, they and their brothers were over the hymns,
Lévites: Josué, Bennui, Cedmiel, Sarébias, Juda, Mathanias, qui était préposé, avec ses frères, au chant des louanges;
9 with Bakbukiah, as well as Hannai, and their brothers, each one in his office.

10 Now Jeshua conceived Joiakim, and Joiakim conceived Eliashib, and Eliashib conceived Joiada,
Josué engendra Joakim, Joakim engendra Eliasib, Eliasib engendra Joïada,
11 and Joiada conceived Jonathan, and Jonathan conceived Jaddua.

12 And in the days of Joiakim, the priests and the leaders of the families were: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

13 of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;

22 The Levites, in the days of Eliashib, and Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, and the priests, were written according to the leaders of the families, during the reign of Darius the Persian.
Au temps d’Eliasib, de Joiada, de Johanan et de Jeddoa, les lévites, chefs de famille, et les prêtres furent inscrits, sous le règne de Darius, le Perse.
23 The sons of Levi, according to the leaders of the families, were written in the book of the words of those days, even to the days of Johanan, the son of Eliashib.
Les fils de Lévi, chefs de famille, furent inscrits dans le livre des Chroniques, jusqu’au temps de Johanan, fils d’Eliasib.
24 Now the leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua, the son of Kadmiel, and their brothers, in their turns, so that they would praise and confess, according to the precept of David, the man of God. And they served equally and in order.
Chefs des lévites: Hasébias, Sérébias et Josué, fils de Cedmiel, chargés, avec leurs frères en face d’eux, de célébrer et de louer Dieu, selon l’ordre de David, homme de Dieu, un groupe alternant avec l’autre groupe.
25 Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were keepers of the gates and of the vestibules before the gates.
Mathanias, Becbécias, Abdias, Mosollam, Telmon et Accub, portiers, faisaient la garde au seuil des portes.
26 These were in the days of Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah, the governor, and of Ezra, the priest and scribe.
Ils vivaient au temps de Joakim, fils de Josué, fils de Josédec, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et d’Esdras, le prêtre et le scribe.
27 Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought the Levites from all their places, so that they might bring them to Jerusalem, and so that they might keep the dedication, and rejoice with thanksgiving, and with singing, and with cymbals, psalteries, and lyres.
Lors de la dédicace des murailles de Jérusalem, on convoqua les lévites de tous les lieux qu’ils habitaient, pour les faire venir à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la dédicace avec joie, avec des louanges et des chants, au son des cymbales, des cithares et des harpes.
28 Now the sons of the singing men were gathered from the plains surrounding Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophati,
Les fils des chantres se rassemblèrent de la campagne environnant Jérusalem, des villages des Nétophatiens,
29 and from the house of Gilgal, and from the regions of Geba and Azmaveth. For the singing men had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem.
de Beth-Galgal et du territoire de Géba et d’Azmaveth; car les chantres s’étaient bâti des villages aux alentours de Jérusalem.
30 And the priests and the Levites were cleansed, and they cleansed the people, and the gates, and the wall.
Les prêtres et les lévites, après s’être purifiés, purifièrent le peuple, les portes et la muraille.
31 Then I caused the leaders of Judah to ascend the wall, and I appointed two great choirs to give praise. And they went to the right upon the wall, toward the dung gate.
Je fis monter sur la muraille les princes de Juda, et je formai deux grands chœurs de procession. Le premier chœur se mit en marche vers le côté droit, sur la muraille, vers la porte du Fumier.
32 And after them went Hoshaiah, and one half part of the leadership of Judah,
Derrière eux marchaient Osaïas et la moitié des princes de Juda,
33 and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,
Azarias, Esdras, Mosollam,
34 Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah.
Juda, Benjamin, Séméïas et Jérémie;
35 And some of the sons of the priests went forth with trumpets: Zachariah, the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph.
des fils de prêtres avec des trompettes, Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Séméïas, fils de Mathanias, fils de Michée, fils de Zéchur, fils d’Asaph,
36 And his brothers, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, and Hanani, went forth with the canticles of David, the man of God. And Ezra, the scribe, was before them at the fountain gate.
et ses frères, Séméïas, Azaréel, Malalaï, Galalaï, Maaï, Nathanaël, Juda et Hanani, avec les instruments de musique de David, homme de Dieu. Esdras, le scribe, était devant eux.
37 And opposite them, they ascended by the steps of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall above the house of David, and as far as the water gate to the east.
À la porte de la Source, ils montèrent vis-à-vis d’eux les degrés de la cité de David, par la montée de la muraille, au-dessus de la maison de David, jusqu’à la porte de l’Eau, vers l’orient.
38 And the second choir of those who gave thanks went forth on the opposite side, and I went after them, and one half part of the people were upon the wall, and upon the tower of the furnaces, as far as the widest wall,
Le second chœur se mit en marche du côté opposé; j’étais derrière lui, avec l’ autre moitié du peuple, sur la muraille. D’au-dessus de la tour des Fourneaux, on alla jusqu’à la muraille large;
39 and above the gate of Ephraim, and above the ancient gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hamath, and as far as the flock gate. And they stood still at the watch gate.
puis, d’au dessus de la porte d’Ephraïm, de la Vieille porte, de la porte des Poissons, de la tour de Hananéel et de la tour de Méa, jusqu’à la porte des Brebis; et l’on s’arrêta à la porte de la Prison.
40 And the two choirs of those who gave praise stood still at the house of God, with myself and one half part of the magistrates who were with me.
Les deux chœurs s’arrêtèrent dans la maison de Dieu, ainsi que moi et la moitié des magistrats qui étaient avec moi,
41 And the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Mijamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah, went forth with trumpets,
et les prêtres Eliacim, Maasias, Miamin, Michée, Elioénaï, Zacharie, Ananie, avec des trompettes,
42 with Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers were singing clearly, and Jezrahiah was their foremost leader.
et Maasias, Séméïas, Eléazar, Azzi, Johanan, Melchias, Elam et Ezer. Et les chantres se firent entendre, avec Jezraïas, leur chef.
43 And on that day, they immolated great sacrifices, and they rejoiced. For God had caused them to rejoice with great joy. And their wives and children also were glad. And the rejoicing of Jerusalem was heard from far away.
Ils offrirent ce jour-là de grands sacrifices et se livrèrent aux réjouissances, car Dieu leur avait donné un grand sujet de joie. Les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent aussi, et les cris de joie de Jérusalem furent entendus au loin.
44 On that day also, they enrolled men over the storehouses of the treasury, for the libations, and for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, so that the leaders of the city might bring these in, by them, with proper thanksgiving, for the priests and the Levites. For Judah was rejoicing in the priests and the Levites who were assisting.
En ce temps-là, on établit des hommes préposés aux chambres qui servaient de magasins pour les offrandes prélevées, les prémices et les dîmes, et on les chargea d’y recueillir, du territoire des villes, les portions assignées par la loi aux prêtres et aux lévites; car Juda se réjouissait de voir à leur poste les prêtres et les lévites,
45 And they kept the vigil of their God, and the vigil of expiation, with the singing men and the gatekeepers, in accord with the precept of David, and of Solomon, his son.
observant le service de leur Dieu, et le service des purifications; et de même, les chantres et les portiers, selon l’ordonnance de David et de Salomon, son fils.
46 For in the days of David and Asaph, from the beginning, there were leaders appointed over the singers, to give praise in verses, and to confess to God.
Car autrefois, dans les jours de David et d’Asaph, le chef des chantres, il y avait des chants de louange et d’actions de grâces en l’honneur de Dieu.
47 And all of Israel, in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave portions to the singing men and to the gatekeepers, for each day, and they sanctified the Levites, and the Levites sanctified the sons of Aaron.
Tout Israël, dans les jours de Zorobabel et de Néhémie, donnait jour par jour les portions des chantres et des portiers; on donnait aux lévites les saintes offrandes, et les lévites en donnaient leur part aux fils d’Aaron.
