Judges 13

1 And again, the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. And he delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years.

Aber die Kinder Israel taten wieder, was böse war vor dem HERRN; da gab sie der HERR in die Hand der Philister, vierzig Jahre lang.

2 Now there was a certain man from Zorah, and of the stock of Dan, whose name was Manoah, having a barren wife.

Es war aber ein Mann von Zorea, vom Geschlecht der Daniter, namens Manoach; und sein Weib war unfruchtbar und gebar nicht.

3 And an Angel of the Lord appeared to her, and he said: “You are barren and without children. But you shall conceive and bear a son.

Und der Engel des HERRN erschien dem Weibe und sprach zu ihr: Siehe doch! Du bist unfruchtbar und gebierst nicht; aber du wirst empfangen und einen Sohn gebären!

4 Therefore, take care that you do not drink wine or strong drink. Neither shall you eat anything unclean.

Und nun hüte dich doch, daß du keinen Wein noch starkes Getränk trinkest und nichts Unreines essest.

5 For you shall conceive and bear a son, whose head no razor shall touch. For he shall be a Nazirite of God, from his infancy and from his mother’s womb. And he shall begin to free Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”

Denn siehe, du wirst empfangen und einen Sohn gebären; dem soll kein Schermesser auf das Haupt kommen; denn der Knabe wird ein Nasiräer Gottes sein von Mutterleibe an, und er wird anfangen, Israel aus der Philister Hand zu erretten.

6 And when she had gone to her husband, she said to him: “A man of God came to me, having the countenance of an Angel, exceedingly terrible. And when I had inquired of him, who he was, and where he was from, and what name he was called, he was not willing to tell me.

Da kam das Weib und sagte es ihrem Mann und sprach: Es kam ein Mann Gottes zu mir, und seine Gestalt war wie die Gestalt eines Engels Gottes, sehr schrecklich, so daß ich ihn nicht fragte, woher er komme, und er sagte mir nicht, wie er heiße.

7 But he responded: ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. Take care that you do not drink wine or strong drink. And you shall not consume anything unclean. For the boy shall be a Nazirite of God from his infancy, from his mother’s womb, even until the day of his death.’”

Aber er sprach zu mir: Siehe, du wirst empfangen und einen Sohn gebären; so trink nun weder Wein noch starkes Getränk und iß nichts Unreines; denn der Knabe soll ein Nasiräer Gottes sein von Mutterleibe an bis zum Tage seines Todes.

8 And so Manoah prayed to the Lord, and he said, “I beg you Lord, that the man of God, whom you sent, may come again, and may teach us what we ought to do about the boy who is to be born.”

Da bat Manoach den HERRN und sprach: Ach, mein HERR! laß doch den Mann Gottes, den du gesandt hast, wieder zu uns kommen, damit er uns lehre, was wir mit dem Knaben tun müssen, der geboren werden soll!

9 And the Lord heeded the prayer of Manoah, and the Angel of the Lord appeared again to his wife, sitting in a field. But her husband Manoah was not with her. And when she had seen the Angel,

Und Gott erhörte die Stimme Manoachs, und der Engel Gottes kam wieder zum Weibe; sie saß aber auf dem Felde, und ihr Mann Manoach war nicht bei ihr.

10 she hurried and ran to her husband. And she reported to him, saying, “Behold, the man appeared to me, whom I had seen before.”

Da lief das Weib eilends und sagte es ihrem Manne an und sprach zu ihm: Siehe, der Mann ist mir erschienen, welcher an jenem Tage zu mir kam!

11 And he rose up and followed his wife. And going to the man, he said to him, “Are you the one who spoke to my wife?” And he responded, “I am.”

Manoach machte sich auf und ging seinem Weibe nach und kam zu dem Mann und sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Mann, der mit dem Weibe geredet hat? Er sprach: Ja, ich bin's!

12 And Manoah said to him: “When will your word be fulfilled. What do you want the boy to do? Or from what should he keep himself?”

Und Manoach sprach: Wenn nun dein Wort eintrifft, was soll die Ordnung für den Knaben und welches sein Werk sein?

13 And the Angel of the Lord said to Manoah: “Concerning all the things about which I have spoken to your wife, she herself should abstain.

Der Engel des HERRN sprach zu Manoach: Von allem, was ich dem Weibe gesagt habe, soll sie sich enthalten;

14 And let her eat nothing from the vine. She may not drink wine or strong drink. She may consume nothing unclean. And let her observe and keep what I have instructed to her.”

sie soll nichts essen, was vom Weinstock kommt, und soll weder Wein noch starkes Getränk trinken und nichts Unreines essen; und alles, was ich ihr geboten habe, soll sie halten.

15 And Manoah said to the Angel of the Lord, “I beg you to agree to my petition, and to let us prepare a kid from the goats.”

Manoach sprach zum Engel des HERRN: Laß dich doch von uns aufhalten, so wollen wir dir ein Ziegenböcklein zurichten!

16 And the Angel answered him: “Even if you compel me, I will not eat from your bread. But if you are willing to offer a holocaust, offer it to the Lord.” And Manoah did not know that he was an Angel of the Lord.

Aber der Engel des HERRN antwortete Manoach: Wenn du mich gleich hier behieltest, so würde ich doch nicht von deinem Brot essen. Willst du aber ein Brandopfer darbringen, so sollst du es dem HERRN opfern. Manoach wußte nämlich nicht, daß es der Engel des HERRN war.

17 And he said to him, “What is your name, so that, if your word is fulfilled, we may honor you?”

Und Manoach sprach zum Engel des HERRN: Wie heißest du? Denn wenn dein Wort eintrifft, so wollen wir dich ehren!

18 And he answered him, “Why do you ask my name, which is a wonder?”

Aber der Engel des HERRN sprach zu ihm: Warum fragst du nach meinem Namen? Er ist ja wunderbar!

19 And so, Manoah took a kid from the goats, and libations, and he placed them upon a rock, as an offering to the Lord, who accomplishes wonders. Then he and his wife watched.

Da nahm Manoach das Ziegenböcklein und das Speisopfer und opferte es dem HERRN auf dem Felsen, und er tat ein Wunder; Manoach aber und sein Weib sahen zu.

20 And when the flame of the altar ascended to heaven, the Angel of the Lord ascended in the flame. And when Manoah and his wife had seen this, they fell prone on the ground.

Denn als die Flamme vom Altar gen Himmel stieg, fuhr der Engel des HERRN in der Flamme des Altars hinauf. Als Manoach und sein Weib solches sahen, fielen sie auf ihr Angesicht zur Erde.

21 And the Angel of the Lord no longer appeared to them. And immediately, Manoah understood him to be an Angel of the Lord.

Und der Engel des HERRN erschien Manoach und seinem Weibe nicht mehr. Da erkannte Manoach, daß es der Engel des HERRN war.

22 And he said to his wife, “We shall certainly die, since we have seen God.”

Und Manoach sprach zu seinem Weibe: Wir müssen sicherlich sterben, weil wir Gott gesehen haben!

23 And his wife answered him, “If the Lord wished to kill us, he would not have accepted the holocaust and the libations from our hands. He would not have revealed all these things to us, nor would he have told us the things that are in the future.”

Aber sein Weib antwortete ihm: Wenn der HERR Lust hätte, uns zu töten, so hätte er das Brandopfer und das Speisopfer nicht von unsern Händen angenommen; er hätte uns auch weder solches alles gezeigt, noch uns jetzt solches hören lassen!

24 And so she bore a son, and she called his name Samson. And the boy grew up, and the Lord blessed him.

Und das Weib gebar einen Sohn und hieß ihn Simson. Und der Knabe nahm zu, und der HERR segnete ihn.

25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to be with him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Und der Geist des HERRN fing an ihn zu treiben im Lager Dan, zwischen Zorea und Estaol.
