< Job 9 >
1 And Job, responding, said:
Iyyoob akkana jedhee deebise:
2 Truly, I know that it is so, and that man cannot be justified compared with God.
“Ani akka wanni kun dhugaa taʼe beeka. Namni garuu akkamitti fuula Waaqaa duratti qajeelaa taʼuu dandaʼa?
3 If he chooses to contend with him, he is not able to respond to him once out of a thousand times.
Namni tokko yoo isa wajjin falmuu barbaade kuma keessaa siʼa tokko illee isaaf deebisuu hin dandaʼu.
4 He is understanding in heart and mighty in strength; who has resisted him and yet had peace?
Ogummaan isaa gad fagoo dha; humni isaas guddaa dha. Namni isaan mormee utuu hin miidhamin hafu jiraa?
5 He has moved mountains, and those whom he overthrew in his fury did not know it.
Inni utuu isaan hin beekin tulluuwwan iddoo isaaniitii buqqisa; dheekkamsa isaatiinis isaan gaggaragalcha.
6 He shakes the earth out of its place and its pillars tremble.
Lafa iddoo isheetii ni sochoosa; utubaawwan ishees ni raasa.
7 He commands the sun and it does not rise, and he closes the stars as if under a seal.
Inni biiftuu ni ajaja; isheenis hin baatu; urjiiwwanis chaappaadhaan ni cufa.
8 He alone extends the heavens, and he walks upon the waves of the sea.
Isa qofatu samiiwwan diriirsa; dambalii galaanaa irras ni deema.
9 He fashions Arcturus, and Orion, and Hyades, and the interior of the south.
Urjiiwwan Amaaketaa fi urjii sadee, Urjii torbii fi tuuta ‘Urjiiwwan Kibbaa’ jedhaman isatu uume.
10 He accomplishes great and incomprehensible and miraculous things, which cannot be numbered.
Inni wantoota gurguddaa qoratanii bira gaʼuun hin dandaʼamne, dinqiiwwan hin lakkaaʼamne hojjeta.
11 If he approaches me, I will not see him; if he departs, I will not understand.
Yommuu inni na bira darbu ani isa arguu hin dandaʼu; yommuu inni na cina deemus ani isa hubachuu hin dandaʼu.
12 If he suddenly should question, who will answer him? Or who can say, “Why did you do so?”
Yoo inni butee deeme eenyutu isa dhowwuu dandaʼa? Eenyutus, ‘Ati maal hojjettaa?’ isaan jechuu dandaʼa?
13 God, whose wrath no one is able to resist, and under whom they bend who carry the world,
Waaqni dheekkamsa isaa hin deebisu; warri Raʼaabin gargaaran iyyuu gad deebiʼu.
14 what am I then, that I should answer him and exchange words with him?
“Yoos ani akkamittan isatti falmuu dandaʼa? Isatti falmuufis akkamittan dubbii filachuu dandaʼa?
15 And if I now have any justice, I will not respond, but will beseech my judge.
Ani nama balleessaa hin qabne utuun taʼe iyyuu, isaaf deebisuu hin dandaʼu; abbaa Murtii koo araara kadhachuu qofa nan dandaʼa.
16 And if he should listen to me when I call, I would not believe that he had heard my voice.
Yoo ani isa waammadhee inni naa deebise illee, akka inni na dhagaʼu ani hin amanu.
17 For he will crush me in a whirlwind and multiply my wounds, even without cause.
Inni bubbee hamaadhaan na caccabsa; madaa koos sababii malee natti baayʼisa.
18 He does not permit my spirit to rest, and he fills me with bitterness.
Inni waan hadhaaʼaadhaan na guute malee akka ani hafuura fudhadhuuf illee yeroo naaf hin kennine.
19 If strength is sought, he is most strong; if equity in judgment, no one would dare to give testimony for me.
Waaʼee jabinaa taanaan inni jabaa dha! Waaʼee murtii qajeelaas taanaan eenyutu isa waamuu dandaʼa?
20 If I wanted to justify myself, my own mouth will condemn me; if I would reveal my innocence, he would prove me depraved.
Utuu ani nama balleessaa hin qabne taʼe iyyuu afaan koo natti mura; utuma ani hirʼina hin qabaannes yakkamaa taʼuu koo hima.
21 And if I now became simple, my soul would be ignorant even of this, and my life would weary me.
“Ani hirʼina qabaachuu baadhu iyyuu, waaʼee ofii kootii hin yaaddaʼu; jireenya koos nan tuffadha.
22 There is one thing that I have said: both the innocent and the impious he consumes.
Wanni hundinuu tokkuma; kanaafuu ani, ‘Inni isa hirʼina hin qabnes, isa hamaas ni balleessa’ nan jedha.
23 If he scourges, let him kill all at once, and not laugh at the punishment of the innocent.
Yommuu dhaʼichi buʼee duʼa tasaa fidutti, inni badiisa warra yakka hin qabneetti ni qoosa.
24 Since the earth has been given into the hand of the impious, he covers the face of its judges; for if it is not him, then who is it?
Yommuu lafti harka hamootaa jala galtutti, inni ija abbootii murtii ishee ni jaamsa; kun yoo isa taʼuu baate, egaa eenyu ree?
25 My days have been swifter than a messenger; they have fled and have not seen goodness.
“Barri jireenya koo nama fiigu caalaa ariifata; utuu gammachuu tokko illee hin argin darba.
26 They have passed by like ships carrying fruits, just like an eagle flying to food.
Inni akkuma bidiruu dhallaadduu irraa hojjetamee, akkuma risaa waa butachuuf gad barrisuu ariifata.
27 If I say: “By no means will I speak this way.” I change my face and I am tortured with sorrow.
Yoo ani, ‘Guungummii koo nan dhiisa; nyaara guuruus dhiisee nan seeqa’ jedhe,
28 I have dreaded all my works, knowing that you did not spare the offender.
ani amma iyyuu dhiphina koo hunda nan sodaadha; akka ati akka nama balleessaa hin qabneetti na hin hedne nan beekaatii.
29 Yet, if I am also just as impious, why have I labored in vain?
Erga yakkamaa taʼuun koo beekamee, ani maaliifin akkasumaan dadhaba ree?
30 If I had been washed with snow-like waters, and my hands were shining like the cleanest thing,
Utuma ani saamunaadhaan dhiqadhee handoodeedhaanis harka koo qulqulleeffadhe iyyuu,
31 yet you would plunge me in filth, and my own garments would abhor me.
ati hamma uffanni koos na balfutti, boolla keessa na dhidhimsita.
32 For even I would not answer a man who were like myself, nor one who could be heard with me equally in judgment.
“Akka ani isaa deebisuu fi mana murtiittis wal falminuuf, inni akka koo nama foonii miti.
33 There is no one who could both prevail in argument and in placing his hand between the two.
Utuu namni nu lamaan irra harka kaaʼu, kan gidduu keenyattis araara buusu tokko jiraatee,
34 Let him take his staff away from me, and let not the fear of him terrify me.
utuu Waaqni ulee isaa narraa kaasee silaa naasisuun isaa na hin sodaachisu ture.
35 I will speak and I will not fear him, for in fearfulness I am not able to respond.
Silaa ani utuun isa hin sodaatin nan dubbadhan ture; haalan amma keessa jiruun garuu hin dandaʼu.
