Job 32
1 But these three men ceased to answer Job, because he considered himself justified.
Alors ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job, parce qu'il se croyait un homme juste.
2 And Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was angry and indignant. But he was angry against Job because he described himself to be just in the presence of God.
Et Elihu fils de Barakéel, Buzite, de la famille de Ram, fut embrasé de colère contre Job, parce qu'il se justifiait plus qu'il [ne justifiait] Dieu.
3 Moreover, he was indignant with his friends because they had not found a reasonable response, except in so far as they condemned Job.
Sa colère fut aussi embrasée contre ses trois amis, parce qu'ils n'avaient pas trouvé de quoi répondre, et toutefois ils avaient condamné Job.
4 Therefore, Eliu waited while Job was talking, for these were his elders that were speaking.
Or Elihu avait attendu que Job eût parlé, à cause qu'ils étaient tous plus âgés que lui.
5 But when he saw that these three were not able to respond, he was extremely angry.
Mais Elihu voyant qu'il n'y avait aucune réponse dans la bouche de ces trois hommes, il fut embrasé de colère.
6 And so Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite responded by saying: I am younger in years, and you are more ancient; therefore, I kept my head low, for I was afraid to reveal to you my opinion.
C'est pourquoi Elihu fils de Barakéel Buzite prit la parole, et dit: Je suis moins âgé que vous, et vous êtes fort vieux; c'est pourquoi j'ai eu peur et j'ai craint de vous dire mon avis.
7 For I had hoped that greater age would speak, and that a multitude of years would teach wisdom.
Je disais [en moi-même]; les jours parleront, et le grand nombre des années fera connaître la sagesse.
8 But I see now that there is only breath in men, and that it is the inspiration of the Almighty that gives understanding.
L'esprit est bien en l'homme, mais c'est l'inspiration du Tout-puissant qui les rend intelligents.
9 The wise are not the aged, nor do the elders understand judgment.
Les grands ne sont pas [toujours] sages, et les anciens n'entendent pas [toujours] le droit.
10 Therefore, I will speak. Listen to me, and so I will show you my wisdom.
C'est pourquoi je dis: Ecoute-moi, et je dirai aussi mon avis.
11 For I have endured your words; I have paid attention to your deliberations, while you were being argumentative with words.
Voici, j'ai attendu que vous eussiez parlé; j'ai prêté l'oreille à tout ce que vous avez voulu faire entendre, jusqu'à ce que vous avez eu examiné les discours.
12 And as long as I supposed that you were saying something, I considered; but now I see that there is none of you that is able to argue with Job and to respond to his words.
Je vous ai, dis-je, bien considérés, et voilà, il n'y a pas un de vous qui ait convaincu Job, et qui ait répondu à ses discours.
13 So that you will not say, “We have found wisdom,” God has thrown him down, not man.
Afin qu'il ne vous arrive pas de dire: Nous avons trouvé la sagesse; [savoir], que c'est le [Dieu] Fort qui le poursuit, et non point un homme.
14 He has said nothing to me, and I will not respond to him according to your words.
Or [comme] ce n'est pas contre moi qu'il a arrangé ses discours, ce ne sera pas aussi selon vos paroles, que je lui répondrai.
15 Then they were filled with dread, and so they no longer responded, and they withdrew from their speechmaking.
Ils ont été étonnés, ils n'ont plus rien répondu, on leur a fait perdre la parole.
16 Therefore, because I have waited and they have not been speaking, for they stood firm and did not respond at all,
Et j'ai attendu jusqu'à ce qu'ils n'ont plus rien dit; car ils sont demeurés muets, et ils n'ont plus répliqué;
17 I also will answer in my turn, and I will reveal my knowledge.
Je répondrai [donc] pour moi et je dirai mon avis.
18 For I am full of words, and the feeling in my gut inspires me.
Car je suis gros de parler, et l'esprit dont je me sens rempli, me presse.
19 Yes, my stomach is like fermenting wine without a vent, which bursts the new containers.
Voici, mon ventre est comme [un vaisseau] de vin qui n'a point d'air; et il crèverait comme des vaisseaux neufs.
20 I should speak, but I will also breathe a little; I will open my lips, and I will answer.
Je parlerai donc, et je me mettrai au large; j'ouvrirai mes lèvres, et je répondrai.
21 I will not esteem the reputation of a man, and I will not equate God with man.
A Dieu ne plaise que j'aie acception des personnes, je n'userai point de mots couverts en parlant à un homme.
22 For I do not know how long I will continue, and whether, after a while, my Maker might take me away.
Car je ne sais point user de mots couverts; celui qui m'a fait m'enlèverait tout aussitôt.
