Job 23
1 Then Job answered by saying:
Hiob antwortete und sprach:
2 Now again my conversation is in bitterness, and the force of my scourging weighs more heavily on me because of my mourning.
Auch heute empört sich meine Klage; seine Hand drückt schwer auf mein Seufzen.
3 Who will grant me that I might know and find him, and that I may approach even to his throne?
O daß ich ihn zu finden wüßte, gelangen könnte bis zu seinem Richterstuhl!
4 I would place judgment before his eye, and my mouth would fill with criticism,
So wollte ich vor ihm meine Sache darlegen und meinen Mund mit Beweisen füllen.
5 so that I may know the words that he will answer me and understand what he will say to me.
Ich möchte wissen, was er mir erwidern würde, und erfahren, was er zu mir sagen würde!
6 I do not want him to contend with me with much strength, nor to overwhelm me with the bulk of his greatness.
Würde er in der Fülle der Macht mit mir streiten? Nein, nur achten würde er auf mich!
7 Let him show fairness in response to me, and let my judgment reach to victory.
Dann würde ein Redlicher mit ihm rechten, und für immer machte ich mich von meinem Richter frei!
8 If I go to the east, he does not appear; if I go to the west, I will not understand him.
Doch - gehe ich ostwärts, so ist er nicht da, und westwärts - so gewahre ich ihn nicht.
9 If I turn to the left, what can I do? I will not take hold of him. If I turn myself to the right, I will not see him.
Im Norden schafft er, aber ich sehe ihn nicht, biegt ab gen Süden - aber ich erblicke ihn nicht.
10 Truly, he knows my way and has tested me like gold that passes through fire.
Denn er weiß, welchen Wandel ich geführt - prüfte er mich, wie Gold würde ich hervorgehn.
11 My feet have been following his footsteps; I have kept to his way and have not strayed from it.
An seiner Spur hat fest mein Fuß gehalten, seinen Weg hab' ich verfolgt, ohne abzuweichen.
12 I have not withdrawn from the commands of his lips, and the words of his mouth I have hidden in my sinews.
Von seiner Lippen Vorschrift wich ich nie, barg in meiner Brust die Worte seines Munds.
13 For he is alone, and no one is able to disturb his intention; and whatever his spirit wills, that he accomplishes.
Er aber bleibt sich gleich - wer will ihm wehren? Sein Wille begehrt's, da führt er's aus!
14 And when he fulfills his will in me, many other similar ones will also be present with him.
Ja, er wird zu Ende führen, was er mir bestimmt hat, und solcherlei hat er noch vieles im Sinn.
15 And, for this reason, I have been troubled at his presence, and, when I consider him, I am approached by fear.
Darum erschrecke ich vor seinem Angesicht; überdenke ich's, so erbebe ich vor ihm.
16 God has weakened my heart, and the Almighty has confused me.
Ja, Gott hat meinen Mut gebrochen und der Allmächtige hat mich mit Schrecken erfüllt.
17 Yet I have not perished because of the threatening darkness, nor has gloom covered my face.
Denn nicht des Unglücks wegen fühle ich mich vernichtet, noch wegen meiner Person, die Dunkel bedeckt hat.
