Jeremiah 6
1 “O sons of Benjamin, be strengthened in the midst of Jerusalem, and sound the trumpet in Tekoa, and lift up a banner over the house of Haccherem. For an evil has been seen from the north, with great destruction.
Voi copii ai lui Beniamin, adunați-vă pentru a fugi din mijlocul Ierusalimului și sunați trâmbița în Tecoa și înălțați un semn de foc în Bet-Hacherem, pentru că din nord apare răul și o mare nimicire.
2 I have compared the daughter of Zion to a beautiful and delicate woman.
Am asemănat pe fiica Sionului cu o femeie frumoasă și delicată.
3 The pastors will come to her with their flocks. They have pitched their tents against her all around. Each one will feed those who are under his hand.
Păstorii cu turmele lor vor veni la ea; își vor înălța corturile împotriva ei de jur împrejur; vor paște fiecare în locul lui.
4 ‘Sanctify a war against her! Rise up together, and let us ascend at midday.’ ‘Woe to us! For the day has declined; for the shadows of the evening have grown longer.’
Pregătiți război împotriva ei; ridicați-vă și să ne urcăm la amiază. Vai nouă! pentru că ziua pleacă, pentru că umbrele serii se întind.
5 ‘Rise up, and let us ascend in the night, and let us destroy her houses.’”
Ridicați-vă, să ne urcăm noaptea și să îi distrugem palatele.
6 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “Cut down her trees, and build a rampart around Jerusalem. This is the city of visitation! Every kind of false claim is in her midst.
Pentru că astfel a spus DOMNUL oștirilor: Retezați copaci și aruncați un val de pământ împotriva Ierusalimului; aceasta este cetatea de cercetat; ea este în întregime oprimată în mijlocul ei.
7 Just as a cistern makes its water cold, so has she made her wickedness cold. Iniquity and devastation will be heard in her; sickness and wounds will be ever before me.
Precum fântâna își varsă apele, tot astfel ea își varsă stricăciunea: violență și jefuire se aud în ea; înaintea mea se află continuu mâhnire și răni.
8 O Jerusalem, accept instruction, lest perhaps my soul may withdraw from you; lest perhaps I may set you in a desert, in an uninhabitable land.”
Instruiește-te, Ierusalime, ca nu cumva sufletul meu să se depărteze de tine; ca nu cumva să te fac pustiu, o țară nelocuită.
9 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “They will gather the remnant of Israel, even as a single cluster of grapes is gathered from a vine. Direct your hand, as a grape-gatherer directs his hand to the basket.
Astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor: Ei vor culege în întregime rămășița lui Israel ca pe o vie; întoarce-ți înapoi mâna la coșuri, ca un culegător.
10 To whom should I speak, and to whom should I testify, so as to be heard? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and so they are unable to hear. Behold, for them, the word of the Lord has become a disgrace. And so they will not accept it.
Cui să îi vorbesc și pe cine să avertizez, ca ei să asculte? Iată, urechea lor este necircumcisă și nu pot să dea ascultare; iată, cuvântul DOMNULUI este pentru ei o ocară; nu au desfătare în el.
11 For this reason, I have been filled with the fury of the Lord. I labor to bear it. Let it be poured out upon the child outside, or upon a group of young men meeting together. For a man will be taken captive with a woman, an elder will be taken captive with one who is full of days.
De aceea sunt plin de furia DOMNULUI; sunt obosit de ținerea ei; o voi turna asupra copiilor de afară și asupra adunării împreună a tinerilor; căci și soțul cu soția vor fi luați, cel bătrân cu cel sătul de zile.
12 And their houses will be given over to others, with both their lands and their wives. For I will extend my hand over the inhabitants of the earth, says the Lord.
Și casele lor vor fi trecute în mâna altora, împreună cu câmpurile și soțiile lor, pentru că îmi voi întinde mâna asupra locuitorilor țării, spune DOMNUL.
13 Certainly, from the least of them even to the greatest, all of them practice greed. And from the prophet even to the priest, all of them act with deceit.
Pentru că de la cel mai mic al lor până la cel mai mare al lor fiecare este dedat la poftire; și de la profet până la preot fiecare tratează cu falsitate.
14 And they healed the destruction of the daughter of my people with disgrace, by saying: ‘Peace, peace.’ And there was no peace.
Ei au vindecat de asemenea vătămarea fiicei poporului meu cu ușurătate, spunând: Pace, pace; când nu este pace.
15 They were confounded, because they committed an abomination. Or rather, they were not confounded with shame, because they did not know how to blush. For this reason, they will fall among those who are being destroyed. In the time of their visitation, they will fall, says the Lord.”
Au fost ei rușinați că au comis urâciune? Nu, nu au fost deloc rușinați, nici nu puteau să roșească; de aceea ei vor cădea printre cei care cad; la timpul când îi cercetez vor fi doborâți, spune DOMNUL.
16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand above the ways, and see and ask, about the ancient paths, as to which is the good way, and then walk in it. And you will find refreshment for your souls. But they said: ‘We will not walk.’
Astfel spune DOMNUL: Stați pe căi și vedeți și întrebați de cărările cele vechi, unde este calea bună; și umblați în ea și veți găsi odihnă pentru sufletele voastre. Dar ei au spus: Refuzăm să umblăm în ea.
17 And I appointed watchers over you, saying: ‘Listen for the sound of the trumpet.’ And they said: ‘We will not listen.’
De asemenea am pus paznici peste voi, spunând: Dați ascultare la sunetul trâmbiței. Dar ei au spus: Refuzăm să dăm ascultare.
18 For this reason, hear, O Gentiles, and know, O congregation, how much I will do to them.
De aceea ascultați, voi națiunilor; și cunoaște, tu adunare, ce este printre ei.
19 Hear, O earth! Behold, I will lead evils over this people, as the fruits of their own thoughts. For they have not listened to my words, and they have cast aside my law.
Ascultă, pământule; iată, voi aduce răul asupra acestui popor, rodul gândurilor lor, pentru că nu au dat ascultare la cuvintele mele, nici la legea mea, ci au respins-o.
20 For what reason are you bringing me frankincense from Sheba, and sweet smelling reeds from a far away land? Your holocausts are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me.”
Pentru ce vine la mine tămâie din Seba și trestia dulce de zahăr dintr-o țară îndepărtată? Ofrandele voastre arse nu sunt bine primite, nici sacrificiile voastre nu îmi sunt dulci.
21 Therefore, thus says the Lord: “Behold I will bring this people to utter ruin, and they will fall, with their fathers and sons; neighbor and relative will perish together.”
De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL: Iată, voi pune pietre de poticnire înaintea acestui popor, și părinții și fiii împreună vor cădea peste ele; vecinul și prietenul lui vor pieri.
22 Thus says the Lord: “Behold, a people is coming from the land of the north, and a great nation will rise up from the ends of the earth.
Astfel spune DOMNUL: Iată, un popor vine din țara de nord și o națiune mare va fi ridicată de la marginile pământului.
23 They will take hold of arrow and shield. They are cruel, and they will not take pity. Their voice will roar like the ocean. And they will climb upon horses, for they have been prepared like men for battle, against you, O daughter of Zion.
Ei vor apuca arcul și sulița; ei sunt cruzi și nu au milă; vocea lor răcnește ca marea; și călăresc pe cai, desfășurați ca bărbați pentru război împotriva ta, fiică a Sionului.
24 ‘We have heard of their fame. Our hands have become weakened. Tribulation has overtaken us, like the pains of a woman giving birth.’
Noi am auzit de faima lor, mâinile noastre slăbesc, chinul ne-a apucat și durere, ca a unei femei la naștere.
25 Do not choose to go out into the fields, and you should not walk along the roadway. For the sword and the terror of the enemy is on every side.
Nu ieșiți la câmp, nici nu umblați pe cale, pentru că sabia dușmanului și frica este de fiecare parte.
26 Wrap yourself in haircloth, O daughter of my people. And sprinkle yourself with ashes. Make a mourning for yourself, as for an only son, a bitter lamentation: ‘for the destroyer will overwhelm us suddenly.’
Fiică a poporului meu, încinge-te cu pânză de sac și tăvălește-te în cenușă; jelește, ca pentru singurul fiu, cea mai amară plângere, pentru că prădătorul va veni dintr-odată asupra noastră.
27 I have presented you as a strong tester among my people. And you will test and know their way.
Eu te-am pus ca un turn și o fortăreață în poporul meu, ca să le cunoști și să le încerci calea.
28 All these leaders who are turning away and walking deceitfully, they are brass and iron; they have all been corrupted.
Ei sunt toți răzvrătiți apăsători, umblând cu defăimări, ei sunt aramă și fier; ei sunt toți corupători.
29 The bellows has failed; the lead has been consumed by fire; the molten metal was melted to no purpose. For their wickedness has not been consumed.
Foalele sunt arse, plumbul este mistuit de foc; topitorul topește în zadar; căci cei stricați nu sunt smulși.
30 Call them: ‘Rejected silver.’ For the Lord has cast them aside.”
Argint lepădat vor fi numiți [de oameni], pentru că DOMNUL i-a lepădat.
