Jeremiah 47
1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah, the prophet, against the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.
Nầy là lời từ Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cho tiên tri Giê-rê-mi về người Phi-li-tin, trước khi Pha-ra-ôn chưa đánh Ga-xa.
2 Thus says the Lord: “Behold, waters will rise up from the north, and they will be like an inundating torrent, and they will cover the land and its plenitude, the city and its inhabitants. The men will cry out, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail,
Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Kìa, những luồng sóng từ phương bắc nhảy lên, sẽ trở nên sông vỡ bờ, sẽ làm ngập đất và mọi vậy ở đất, ngập thành và dân cư ở đó. Người ta đều cất tiếng kêu, hết thảy dân cư trong đất đều than thở.
3 before the uproar of a procession of weapons and of his soldiers, before the commotion of his four-horse chariots and the multitude of his wheels. The fathers have not looked back for the sons, because of feebleness of hands,
Nghe tiếng vó ngựa, và tiếng xe cộ ầm ạc, bánh xe rầm rầm, thì kẻ làm cha chẳng xây lại xem con cái mình, vì tay mình yếu đuối.
4 because of the arrival of the day on which all the Philistines will be devastated, and Tyre and Sidon will be destroyed, with all the rest of their helpers. For the Lord has depopulated the Philistines, the remnant of the island of Cappadocia.
Ấy là đến ngày diệt hết đến Phi-li-tin và cất khỏi Ty-rơ và Si-đôn những kẻ còn lại giúp nó. Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ diệt dân Phi-li-tin, tức những kẻ còn sót lại ở cù lao Cáp-tô.
5 Baldness has arrived over Gaza. Ashkelon has been silenced, along with the remnant of their valley. And how long will you continue to be cut down?
Ga-xa đã trở nên trọc trọi; Ách-ca-lôn cùng các đồng bằng xung quanh đã ra hư không; các ngươi tự cắt thịt mình cho đến bao giờ?
6 O sharp sword of the Lord, how long will you be without rest? Enter your sheath; be refreshed and silenced.
Hỡi gươm của Ðức Giê-hô-va, còn bao lâu nữa mầy ý nghĩ? Hãy trở vào vỏ mầy, thôi đi, ở cho yên lặng.
7 But how can it find rest, when the Lord has ordered it against Ashkelon and against its maritime regions, and when a task has been appointed to it there?”
Khi Ðức Giê-hô-va đã truyền lịnh cho, thì mầy ý nghĩ thế nào được ư? Vì Ngài đã định nó nghịch cùng Ách-ca-lôn và bờ biển.
