Jeremiah 35

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying:

Ketika Yoyakim anak Yosia menjadi raja Yehuda, TUHAN berkata kepadaku,

2 “Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and lead them into the house of the Lord, into one of the halls of the treasuries. And you shall give them wine to drink.”

"Pergilah berbicara dengan orang-orang kaum Rekhab. Bawalah mereka ke salah satu kamar di dalam Rumah-Ku, dan sajikanlah anggur kepada mereka."

3 And so I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers, and all his sons, and the entire house of the Rechabites,

Maka pergilah aku menjemput seluruh kaum Rekhab, yaitu Yaazanya (anak seorang yang bernama Yeremia anak Habazinya) bersama semua saudaranya dan anak-anaknya yang laki-laki.

4 and I led them into the house of the Lord, to the treasury of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was near the treasury of the princes, above the storehouse of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, who was the guardian of the entrance.

Aku membawa mereka ke Rumah TUHAN ke dalam ruang murid-murid Nabi Hanan anak Yigdalya. Ruangan itu terletak di atas ruangan Imam Maaseya anak Salum, dekat ruangan pejabat-pejabat lain. Maaseya adalah pegawai tinggi yang mengawasi pintu-pintu di Rumah TUHAN.

5 And I placed before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls filled with wine, and chalices. And I said to them, “Drink wine.”

Kemudian aku meletakkan di depan orang-orang Rekhab itu piala-piala penuh dengan anggur, dan gelas-gelas. Lalu aku berkata kepada mereka, "Silakan minum."

6 And they responded: “We will not drink wine. For Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, instructed us, saying: ‘You shall not drink wine, you and your sons, in perpetuity.

Tetapi mereka menjawab, "Kami tidak minum anggur. Leluhur kami Yonadab anak Rekhab melarang kami dan keturunan kami untuk minum anggur. Larangan itu berlaku untuk selama-lamanya.

7 And you shall not build houses, and you shall not sow any seeds, and you shall not plant or have vineyards. Instead, you shall live in tents all your days, so that you may live many days upon the face of the earth, in which you are sojourners.’

Kami tidak boleh bercocok tanam, dan juga tidak boleh membuka atau memiliki kebun anggur. Seumur hidup, kami juga tidak boleh mendirikan rumah. Kami harus tinggal di dalam kemah, supaya dapat menetap di tanah ini sebagai orang asing.

8 Therefore, we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he has commanded us, so that we do not drink wine all our days, we and our wives, our sons and daughters.

Semua yang diperintahkan Yonadab kepada kami telah kami taati. Seumur hidup, kami dan anak istri kami tidak minum anggur.

9 And we do not build houses in which to live. And we do not have vineyard, or field, or seed to sow.

Kami tidak mendirikan rumah untuk tempat kediaman kami, tetapi kami tinggal dalam rumah kemah. Kami juga tidak mempunyai kebun anggur, ladang atau pun benih gandum untuk ditanam. Singkatnya, segala yang diperintahkan oleh leluhur kami Yonadab itu, kami taati sepenuhnya.

10 Instead, we live in tents, and we have been obedient in accord with all that Jonadab, our father, has instructed us.

11 But when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had ascended to our land, we said: ‘Come and let us enter into Jerusalem, before the face of the army of the Chaldeans, and before the face of the army of Syria.’ And we have remained in Jerusalem.”

Tapi ketika Raja Nebukadnezar menyerbu negeri ini, kami memutuskan untuk lari dari tentara Babel dan tentara Siria, dan mengungsi ke Yerusalem. Itu sebabnya kami sekarang tinggal di sini."

12 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:

Lalu TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, menyuruh aku pergi kepada orang Yehuda dan Yerusalem, dan menyampaikan pesan TUHAN ini kepada mereka, "Aku, TUHAN, bertanya mengapa kamu tidak mau mendengarkan Aku, dan tak mau menuruti perintah-perintah-Ku.

13 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will you not accept discipline, so that you obey my words, says the Lord?

14 The words of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, in which he instructed his sons, so that they would not drink wine, have prevailed. And they have not drunk wine, even to this day. For they have obeyed the instruction of their father. But I have spoken to you, rising and speaking from early morning, and you did not obey me.

Yonadab melarang keturunannya minum anggur, dan mereka taat kepada larangan itu. Sampai hari ini tak seorang pun dari mereka minum anggur. Tapi Aku terus-menerus berbicara kepada kamu, dan kamu tidak mau mendengarkan.

15 And I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, rising at first light, and sending, and saying: ‘Convert, each one from his wicked way, and make your intentions good. And do not choose to follow strange gods, nor shall you worship them. And then you shall live in the land which I gave to you and to your fathers.’ And yet you have not inclined your ear, and you have not heeded me.

Terus-menerus Aku mengutus kepadamu semua hamba-Ku para nabi, dan mereka telah menasihatkan kamu untuk memperbaiki kelakuanmu dan berhenti berbuat jahat. Mereka memperingatkan kamu untuk tidak menyembah ilah-ilah lain dan tidak mengabdi kepada mereka, supaya kamu dapat terus tinggal di negeri ini yang telah Kuberikan kepadamu dan kepada leluhurmu. Tapi kamu tidak mau memperhatikan dan tidak mau mendengarkan Aku.

16 So the sons of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, have remained firm in the commandment of their father, which he instructed to them, while this people has not been obedient to me.

Keturunan Yonadab taat kepada perintah bapak leluhur mereka, tapi kamu tidak mau taat kepada-Ku.

17 For this reason, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over Judah and over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every evil that I have declared against them. For I have spoken to them, and they have not listened. I have called to them, and they have not responded to me.”

Karena itu, Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, akan mendatangkan ke atas kamu--orang Yehuda dan Yerusalem--segala bencana yang telah Kutentukan untuk kamu, seperti yang sudah Kukatakan. Hal itu Kulakukan karena kamu tidak mau mendengarkan apabila Aku berbicara kepadamu, dan kamu tidak mau menjawab ketika Aku memanggil kamu."

18 Then Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab, your father, and have kept all his precepts, and have done all that he has instructed you,

Lalu aku berkata kepada orang-orang kaum Rekhab bahwa TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, berkata begini, "Kamu telah taat kepada leluhurmu Yonadab; semua perintahnya telah kamu turuti dan jalankan.

19 because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: There will not be a man lacking from the stock of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, standing in my sight, for all days.”

Karena itu, Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel, berjanji bahwa dari keturunan Yonadab anak Rekhab selalu akan ada orang laki-laki yang melayani Aku."
