Jeremiah 19
1 Thus says the Lord: “Go, and take a potter’s earthen bottle from the elders of the people and from the elders of the priests.
So sprach der Herr: "Auf! Kauf dir einen Tonkrug von dem Töpfer! Und von den Ältesten des Volkes und der Priester nimm dir ein paar mit!
2 And go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is near the entrance to the earthen gate, and there you shall proclaim the words that I will speak to you.
Und zieh ins Hinnomstal, dort vor dem Scherbentor; dort ruf die Worte aus, die ich dir sage!
3 And you shall say: Listen to the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead an affliction over this place, so much so that it will ring in the ears of all who hear about it.
So sprich zu ihnen: 'Vernehmt das Wort des Herrn, ihr Könige von Juda, und ihr Bewohner von Jerusalem! So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, Gott Israels:"Ich bringe Unheil über diesen Ort, daß jedem, der davon vernimmt, die Ohren gellen."'
4 For they have abandoned me, and they have made this place foreign, and they have offered libations in it to foreign gods, whom neither they, nor their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known. And they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.
Sie lassen mich im Stich, verfremden diesen Ort und räuchern andern Göttern hier, die weder sie, noch ihre Väter, noch Judas Könige zuvor gekannt, und füllen diese Stätte mit dem Blut Unschuldiger
5 And they have built the exalted places of Baal, in order to burn their children with fire as a holocaust to Baal, something that I did not instruct or speak of, nor did it enter into my heart.
und bauen Höhen für den Baal, verbrennen ihre Söhne als Opfer für den Baal dort im Feuer. Das hab ich nie geboten, nie befohlen. Dies kam mir niemals in den Sinn.
6 Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when this place will no longer be called Topheth, or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
Deshalb, fürwahr, erscheinen Tage", ein Spruch des Herrn, "wo dieser Ort nicht mehr Tophet, nicht Tal Ben Hinnoms heißt, nein: 'Würgetal'.
7 And I will scatter the counsel of Judah and of Jerusalem in this place. And I will overthrow them with the sword, in the sight of their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their lives. And I will give their carcasses to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the land as food.
Da will ich Judas Rat und den Jerusalems an diesem Ort zerschmettern und sie durchs Schwert vor ihren Feinden fällen, durch ihre Todfeinde, und ihre Leichen gebe ich zum Fraße hin den Vögeln unterm Himmel, den Tieren auf dem Felde.
8 And I will set this city amid stupor and hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be stupefied, and they will hiss over all its wounds.
Ich mache diese Stadt zur Öde, zum Gespött. Wer sie durchzieht, erstaunt und spottet aller ihrer Schläge.
9 And I will feed them with the flesh of their sons and with the flesh of their daughters. And each one of them will eat the flesh of his friend during the blockade and the embargo by which their enemies, and those who seek their lives, will enclose them.
Ich gebe ihnen ihrer Söhne Fleisch zu essen und ihrer Töchter Fleisch. Ein jeder ißt des andere Fleisch in Drang und Not, bedrängt von ihren Gegnern, ihren Todfeinden.
10 And you shall crush the bottle in the sight of the men who will go with you.
Darauf zerbrich den Krug im Beisein jener Männer, die mit dir gegangen!
11 And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord of hosts: In the same way, I will crush this people and this city, just as the potter’s vessel was crushed and cannot be made whole again. And they will be buried at Topheth, because there will be no other place for burial.
Und sprich zu ihnen: Also spricht der Heeresscharen Herr: 'Zerschmettern will ich dieses Volk und diese Stadt, wie man das irdene Gefäß zerschlägt; man kann's nicht mehr zusammensetzen. Im Tophet selbst wird man begraben aus Mangel an Begräbnisplatz.
12 So will I do to this place and to its inhabitants, says the Lord. And I will make this city to be like Topheth.
Also verfahre ich mit diesem Ort', ein Spruch des Herrn, 'mit denen, die darinnen wohnen. Ich mache diese Stadt zum Tophet.
13 And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be unclean, just like the place of Topheth: all the houses on whose roofs they sacrificed to all the armies of heaven and poured out libations to strange gods.”
Unrein sind dann die Häuser von Jerusalem und die der Könige von Juda wie des Tophets Stätte unrein, ja, all die Häuser, auf deren Dächern sie geräuchert dem ganzen Himmelsheer und andern Göttern Trankopfer gespendet.'"
14 Then Jeremiah arrived from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the atrium of the house of the Lord, and he said to all the people:
Als Jeremias von dem Tophet kam, zu dem der Herr zum Weissagen ihn ausgesandt, betrat er in dem Haus des Herrn den Vorhof und sprach zum ganzen Volke.
15 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over this community, and over all its cities, all the evils that I have spoken against it. For they have hardened their necks, so that they would not heed my words.”
"So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, Gott Israels: 'Ich bringe über diese Stadt und über alle ihre Nebenstädte all jenes Unheil, das ich ihr angedroht. Denn sie versteifen ihren Nacken, auf meine Worte nicht zu achten.'"
