Isaiah 52
1 Rise up, Rise up! Clothe yourself in strength, O Zion! Put on the garments of your glory, O Jerusalem, the city of the Holy One! For the uncircumcised and the unclean will no longer pass through you.
Réveille-toi, réveille-toi! Pare-toi de ta force, ô Sion! Revêts tes habits de fête, ô Jérusalem, Cité sainte! Car désormais personne d’incirconcis ni d’impur n’entrera plus chez toi.
2 Shake yourself from the dust! Arise and sit up, O Jerusalem! Loose the chains from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion!
Secoue ta poussière, lève-toi et reprends ta place, Jérusalem! Débarrasse ton cou des liens qui l’enserrent, ô captive, fille de Sion!
3 For thus says the Lord: You were sold for nothing, and you will be redeemed without money.
Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel: "Gratuitement vous avez été vendus, et sans dépense d’argent vous serez rachetés!"
4 For thus says the Lord God: My people descended into Egypt, in the beginning, in order to sojourn there. But the Assyrian oppressed them, without any cause at all.
Oui, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel: "À l’origine, mon peuple descendit en Egypte pour y séjourner, et puis Achour l’opprima sans motif.
5 And now, what is left for me here, says the Lord? For my people have been taken away without cause. Their lords treat them unjustly, says the Lord. And my name is being continually blasphemed all day long.
Et maintenant, qu’ai-je à faire ici, puisque mon peuple a été capturé gratuitement? Ses dominateurs poussent des cris de triomphe, dit le Seigneur, et constamment, chaque jour, mon nom est outragé!
6 Because of this, my people will know my name, in that day. For it is I myself who is speaking. Behold, I am here.
Eh bien donc! Que mon peuple connaisse ce nom; eh bien donc! Qu’il sache en ce jour que moi qui parle, je suis là!"
7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger and the preacher of peace! Announcing good and preaching peace, they are saying to Zion, “Your God will reign!”
Qu’ils sont gracieux sur les montagnes les pieds du messager qui annonce la paix, du messager de bonnes nouvelles, qui annonce la délivrance, qui dit à Sion: "Ton Dieu est roi!"
8 It is the voice of your watchmen. They have lifted up their voice. They will praise together. For they will see eye to eye, when the Lord converts Zion.
C’Est le cri de tes sentinelles! Ils élèvent la voix et ensemble ils jettent des accents de triomphe; car ils voient, de leurs propres yeux, l’Eternel rentrer dans Sion.
9 Be glad and rejoice together, O deserts of Jerusalem! For the Lord has consoled his people. He has redeemed Jerusalem.
Eclatez en cris de joie, chantez en chœur, ruines de Jérusalem! Car l’Eternel console son peuple, délivre Jérusalem.
10 The Lord has prepared his holy arm, in the sight of all the Gentiles. And all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
L’Eternel déploie son bras auguste aux regards de tous les peuples, et tous les confins de la terre sont témoins de l’œuvre de salut de notre Dieu.
11 Depart, depart, get out of here! Do not be willing to touch what is polluted. Go out from her midst! Be cleansed, you who bear the vessels of the Lord.
Eloignez-vous, éloignez-vous, quittez ces lieux! Ne touchez à rien d’impur! Sortez de son enceinte; purifiez-vous, vous qui portez les armes de l’Eternel!
12 For you will not go out in a tumult, nor will you take flight in a hurry. For the Lord will precede you, and the God of Israel will gather you.
Car ce n’est pas avec une hâte éperdue que vous vous échapperez, ce n’est pas dans une fuite précipitée que vous partirez; mais l’Eternel sera votre avant-garde, votre arrière-garde le Dieu d’Israël.
13 Behold, my servant will understand; he will be exalted and lifted up, and he will be very sublime.
Voyez, mon serviteur prospère; il s’élève, grandit, est placé très haut.
14 Just as they were stupefied over you, so will his countenance be without glory among men, and his appearance, among the sons of men.
Autant la multitude fut stupéfaite à son sujet, (car il était défiguré au point de n’avoir plus rien d’humain; son apparence n’était plus celle des fils d’Adam!)
15 He will sprinkle many nations; kings will close their mouth because of him. And those to whom he was not described, have seen. And those who have not heard, have considered.
autant il fera accourir des peuples nombreux, les rois se tiendront bouche close devant lui, car ce qui ne leur a pas été conté, ils le verront, ils observeront ce qu’ils n’avaient pas ouï dire.
