Isaiah 28
1 Woe to the crown of arrogance, to the inebriated of Ephraim, and to the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, to those who were at the top of the very fat valley, staggering from wine.
Wehe der stolzen Krone der Trunkenbolde Ephraims und der welkenden Blüte seines prangenden Schmuckes auf dem Gipfel des fetten Talgeländes der vom Wein Überwältigten!
2 Behold, the Lord is powerful and steadfast, like a storm of hail, like a crushing whirlwind, like the force of many waters, inundating, sent forth over a spacious land.
Schon hält der Allherr einen Starken und Gewaltigen in Bereitschaft: wie ein Hagelwetter, ein verheerender Sturm, wie ein Wolkenbruch gewaltiger, sich ergießender Wasser wird er sie unwiderstehlich zu Boden niederwerfen.
3 The arrogant crown of the inebriated of Ephraim will be trampled underfoot.
Mit Füßen wird zertreten werden die stolze Krone der Trunkenbolde Ephraims,
4 And the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, who is at the summit of the fat valley, will be like a premature fruit before the ripeness of autumn, which, when the onlooker beholds it, as soon he takes it in his hand, he will devour it.
und der welkenden Blüte seines prangenden Schmuckes auf dem Gipfel des fetten Talgeländes wird es ergehen wie einer Frühfeige vor der Obsternte: kaum erblickt sie jemand, noch ist sie in seiner Hand, so hat er sie schon verschlungen.
5 In that day, the Lord of hosts will be the crown of glory and the wreath of exultation for the remnant of his people.
An jenem Tage wird der HERR der Heerscharen für den Überrest seines Volkes zu einer zierenden Krone und zu einem herrlichen Stirnreif werden
6 And he will be the spirit of judgment for those who sit in judgment, and the strength of those who return from war to the gates.
und den Geist der Rechtsprechung dem (verleihen), der zu Gericht sitzt, und Heldenkraft denen, die den Kampf zum Tore hinaus zurücktreiben.
7 Yet truly, these also have been ignorant due to wine, and they have gone astray due to inebriation. The priest and the prophet have been ignorant because of inebriation. They have been absorbed by wine. They have staggered in drunkenness. They have not known the One who sees. They have been ignorant of judgment.
Aber auch diese hier wanken infolge von Weingenuß und taumeln vom Rauschtrank: Priester und Propheten schwanken vom Rauschtrank, sind übermannt vom Wein, taumeln vom Rauschtrank, schwanken beim Schauen von Gesichten, wanken beim Rechtsprechen!
8 For all the tables have been filled with vomit and filth, so much so that there was no place left.
Denn alle Tische sind voll von Gespei, Unflat bis auf den letzten Platz!
9 To whom will he teach knowledge? And to whom will he grant an understanding of what is heard? To those who have been weaned from the milk, who have been pulled away from the breasts.
»Wem will der denn Erkenntnis beibringen und wem Offenbarungen deuten? Etwa Kindern, die eben von der Milch entwöhnt, eben von der Mutterbrust abgesetzt sind?
10 So then: command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there.
Da heißt’s immer: ›Tu du dies, tu du das! Mach mal dies, mach mal das! Hier ein bißchen, da ein bißchen!‹«
11 For with the speech of lips and with a different language, he will speak to this people.
»Jawohl, durch Menschen mit stammelnden Lippen und mit fremder Zunge wird er zu diesem Volke reden,
12 He said to them: “This is my rest. Refresh the weary,” and, “This is my refreshment.” And yet they were unwilling to listen.
er, der zu ihnen gesagt hat: ›Dies (Land der Verheißung) ist die Ruhestätte; schaffet (also) Ruhe den Müden, und dies ist der Rastort!‹ Doch sie haben nicht hören wollen.«
13 And so, the word of the Lord to them will be: “Command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there,” so that they may go forward and fall backward, and so that they may be broken and ensnared and captured.
So wird denn das Wort des HERRN an sie ergehen: »Tu du dies, tu du das! Mach mal dies, mach mal das! Hier ein bißchen, da ein bißchen!«, damit sie auf ihrem Wege rücklings hinstürzen und zerschmettert werden oder im Netz sich verstricken und gefangen werden.
14 Because of this, listen to the word of the Lord, you mocking men, who lord it over my people who are at Jerusalem.
Darum vernehmet das Wort des Herrn, ihr Spötter, ihr Herrscher über dieses Volk in Jerusalem!
15 For you have said: “We struck a deal with death, and we formed a pact with Hell. When the inundating scourge passes through, it will not overwhelm us. For we have placed our hope in lies, and we are protected by what is false.” (Sheol h7585)
Weil ihr gesagt habt: »Wir haben einen Bund mit dem Tode geschlossen und mit dem Totenreich ein Abkommen getroffen: wenn die Geißel mit ihrer Sturmflut hereinbricht, wird sie uns nicht erreichen; wir haben ja die Lüge zu unserm Schirmdach gemacht und uns in Trug geborgen« – (Sheol h7585)
16 For this reason, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will set a stone within the foundations of Zion, a tested stone, a cornerstone, a precious stone, which has been established in the foundation: whoever trusts in him need not hurry.
darum hat Gott der HERR so gesprochen: »Wisset wohl! Ich bin’s, der in Zion einen Grundstein legt, einen erprobten Stein, einen kostbaren Eckstein, der felsenfest gegründet ist: ›Wer da glaubt, wird nicht zuschanden‹.
17 And I will establish judgment in weights, and justice in measures. And a hailstorm will overturn hope in what is false; and waters will inundate its protection.
Und ich mache das Recht zur Richtschnur und die Gerechtigkeit zur Setzwaage; und der Hagel wird das Schirmdach der Lüge wegreißen, und die Wasserfluten sollen die Bergungsstätte wegschwemmen.«
18 And your deal with death will be abolished, and your pact with Hell will not stand. When the inundating scourge passes through, you will be trampled down by it. (Sheol h7585)
Dann wird euer Bund mit dem Tode hinfällig werden und euer Abkommen mit dem Totenreich abgetan sein: wenn die Geißel mit ihrer Sturmflut hereinbricht, werdet ihr von ihr zermalmt werden. (Sheol h7585)
19 Whenever it passes through, it will take you away. For, at first light of morning, it will pass through, in the day and in the night, and vexation alone will make you understand what you hear.
Sooft sie daherfährt, wird sie euch fassen; denn Morgen für Morgen wird sie daherfahren, bei Tag und bei Nacht; und eitel Entsetzen wird es sein, eine Offenbarung zu vernehmen.
20 For the bed has been narrowed, so much so that one alone would fall out, and the short blanket is not able to cover two.
Denn zu kurz ist das Bett, um sich darin auszustrecken, und die Decke zu knapp, um sich darin einzuwickeln.
21 For the Lord will stand, just as at the mountain of divisions. He will be angry, just as in the valley which is in Gibeon, so that he may accomplish his work, his strange work, so that he may complete his work, his work which is foreign even to him.
Denn wie am Berge Perazim wird der HERR sich erheben, wie im Tal bei Gibeon wird er vor Zorn beben, um sein Werk zu vollführen – ein befremdliches Werk – und um seine Arbeit zu verrichten – eine ungewöhnliche Arbeit.
22 And now, do not be willing to mock, lest your chains be tightened. For I have heard, from the Lord, the God of hosts, about the consummation and the abridgement concerning the entire earth.
Nun laßt also euer Spotten, damit eure Fesseln nicht noch fester angezogen werden! Denn ein vernichtendes Strafgericht, so habe ich von Gott, dem HERRN der Heerscharen, vernommen, ist für die ganze Erde fest beschlossen.
23 Pay close attention, and listen to my voice! Attend and hear my eloquence!
Merkt auf und höret meine Stimme! Gebt acht und vernehmet meine Rede!
24 Would the plowman, after plowing all day so that he may sow, instead cut open and hoe his soil?
Pflügt wohl der Landmann immerfort, um zu säen? Furcht er seinen Acker immerfort und egget ihn?
25 Will he not, when he has made the surface level, sow coriander, and scatter cumin, and plant wheat in rows, and barley, and millet, and vetch in their places?
Nicht wahr? Wenn er dessen Oberfläche geebnet hat, so streut er Dill aus und sät Kümmel und legt Weizen reihenweise und Gerste auf ein besonderes Stück und Spelt als Einfassung an seinen Rand.
26 For he will be instructed in judgment; his God will teach him.
So hat ihn sein Gott unterwiesen zum richtigen Verfahren und hat ihn belehrt.
27 For coriander cannot be threshed with a saw, and a cartwheel cannot revolve over cumin. Instead, coriander is shaken out with a stick, and cumin with a staff.
Dill wird ja doch nicht mit dem Dreschschlitten ausgedroschen und das Wagenrad nicht über Kümmel gerollt, sondern Dill wird mit dem Stabe ausgeklopft und Kümmel mit dem Stecken.
28 But grain for bread must be crushed. Truly, the thresher cannot thresh it unceasingly, and the cartwheel can neither disrupt it, nor break it with its surface.
Wird Brotkorn etwa zermalmt? O nein, nicht immerfort drischt man darauf los und treibt man das Rad seines Wagens und seine Pferde darüber hin: man zermalmt es nicht.
29 And this has gone forth from the Lord, the God of hosts, so that he may accomplish his miraculous plan and magnify justice.
Auch dies ist vom HERRN der Heerscharen ausgegangen: wunderbar ist er an Rat, groß an Einsicht.
