Hosea 14
1 Israel, convert to the Lord your God. For you have been ruined by your own iniquity.
Israël, reviens à l’Éternel, ton Dieu, car tu es tombé par ton iniquité.
2 Take these words with you and return to the Lord. And say to him, “Remove all iniquity and accept the good. And we will repay the calves of our lips.
Prenez avec vous des paroles, et revenez à l’Éternel; dites-lui: Pardonne toute iniquité, et accepte ce qui est bon, et nous [te] rendrons les sacrifices de nos lèvres.
3 Assur will not save us; we will not ride on horses. Neither will we say any more, ‘The works of our hands are our gods,’ for those that are in you will have mercy on the orphan.”
L’Assyrie ne nous sauvera pas; nous ne monterons pas sur des chevaux, et nous ne dirons plus: Notre Dieu, à l’œuvre de nos mains; car, auprès de toi, l’orphelin trouve la miséricorde.
4 I will heal their contrition; I will love them spontaneously. For my wrath has been turned away from them.
Je guérirai leur abandon [de moi], je les aimerai librement, car ma colère s’est détournée d’eux.
5 I will be like the dew; Israel will spring forth like the lily, and his root will spread out like that of the cedars of Lebanon.
Je serai pour Israël comme la rosée; il fleurira comme le lis, et il poussera ses racines comme le Liban.
6 His branches will advance, and his glory will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance will be like that of the cedars of Lebanon.
Ses rejetons s’étendront, et sa magnificence sera comme l’olivier, et son parfum, comme le Liban:
7 They will be converted, sitting in his shadow. They will live on wheat, and they will grow like a vine. His memorial will be like the wine of the cedars of Lebanon.
ils reviendront s’asseoir sous son ombre, ils feront vivre le froment, et ils fleuriront comme une vigne; leur renommée sera comme le vin du Liban.
8 Ephraim will say, “What are idols to me anymore?” I will listen to him, and I will set him straight like a healthy spruce tree. Your fruit has been found by me.
Éphraïm [dira]: Qu’ai-je plus à faire avec les idoles? – Moi, je lui répondrai et je le regarderai. – Moi, je suis comme un cyprès vert. – De moi provient ton fruit.
9 Who is wise and will understand this? Who has understanding and will know these things? For the ways of the Lord are straight, and the just will walk in them, but truly, the traitors will fall in them.
Qui est sage? il comprendra ces choses; et intelligent? il les connaîtra; car les voies de l’Éternel sont droites, et les justes y marcheront, mais les transgresseurs y tomberont.
