Hebrews 11
1 Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not apparent.
Iar credința este substanța lucrurilor sperate, dovada lucrurilor nevăzute.
2 For this reason, the ancients were given testimony.
Fiindcă prin aceasta bătrânii au obținut o bună mărturie.
3 By faith, we understand the world to be fashioned by the Word of God, so that the visible might be made by the invisible. (aiōn g165)
Prin credință înțelegem că au fost urzite lumile prin cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, așa că lucrurile care sunt văzute nu au fost făcute din lucruri care se văd. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith, Abel offered to God a much better sacrifice than that of Cain, through which he obtained testimony that he was just, in that God offered testimony to his gifts. And through that sacrifice, he still speaks to us, though he is dead.
Prin credință, Abel i-a oferit lui Dumnezeu un sacrificiu nespus mai bun decât Cain, sacrificiul prin care el a obținut mărturia că a fost drept, Dumnezeu mărturisind despre darurile lui; și prin aceasta, deși mort, încă vorbește.
5 By faith, Enoch was transferred, so that he would not see death, and he was not found because God had transferred him. For before he was transferred, he had testimony that he pleased God.
Prin credință a fost strămutat Enoh, ca să nu vadă moartea; și nu a fost găsit, deoarece Dumnezeu l-a strămutat; fiindcă înainte de strămutarea lui, a avut această mărturie, că i-a plăcut lui Dumnezeu.
6 But without faith, it is impossible to please God. For whoever approaches God must believe that he exists, and that he rewards those who seek him.
Iar fără credință este imposibil a plăcea lui, fiindcă cel ce vine la Dumnezeu trebuie să creadă că el este și că este un răsplătitor al celor ce îl caută cu zel.
7 By faith, Noah, having accepted an answer about those things which were not yet seen, being afraid, fashioned an ark for the salvation of his house. Through the ark, he condemned the world, and was established as the heir of the justice that occurs through faith.
Prin credință, Noe, fiind avertizat de Dumnezeu despre lucrurile ce încă nu se vedeau, împins de teamă, a pregătit o arcă pentru salvarea casei sale, prin care el a condamnat lumea și a devenit moștenitor al dreptății, care este prin credință.
8 By faith, the one called Abraham obeyed, going out to the place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Prin credință, Avraam, după ce a fost chemat să meargă la locul pe care avea să îl primească mai apoi drept moștenire, a ascultat; și a mers, neștiind încotro mergea.
9 By faith, he stayed in the Land of the Promise as if in a foreign land, dwelling in cottages, with Isaac and Jacob, co-heirs of the same promise.
Prin credință a locuit el temporar în țara promisiunii, ca într-o țară străină, locuind în corturi cu Isaac și Iacob, co-moștenitori ai aceleiași promisiuni.
10 For he was awaiting a city having firm foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
Fiindcă el căuta o cetate care are temelii, al cărei ziditor și făcător este Dumnezeu.
11 By faith also, Sarah herself, being barren, received the ability to conceive offspring, even though she was past that age in life. For she believed him to be faithful, who had promised.
Prin credință și Sara însăși a primit putere pentru conceperea seminței și a născut un copil, deși îi trecuse vârsta, fiindcă l-a socotit credincios pe cel ce promisese.
12 Because of this, there were also born, from one who himself was as if dead, a multitude like the stars of heaven, who are, like the sand of the seashore, innumerable.
De aceea chiar dintr-unul și acela ca și mort, s-au născut o mulțime ca stelele cerului, și nenumărați ca nisipul de pe țărmul mării.
13 All of these passed away, adhering to faith, not having received the promises, yet beholding them from afar and saluting them, and confessing themselves to be sojourners and guests upon the earth.
Toți aceștia au murit în credință, fără să fi primit lucrurile promisiunilor, ci, văzându-le de departe, au și fost convinși despre ele, le-au și îmbrățișat și au mărturisit că erau străini și locuitori temporari pe pământ.
14 For those who speak in this way are themselves indicating that they seek a homeland.
Fiindcă toți cei ce spun astfel de lucruri, arată clar că ei caută o patrie.
15 And if, indeed, they had been mindful of the very place from which they departed, they certainly would have returned in time.
Și, într-adevăr, dacă și-ar fi amintit de patria aceea de unde au ieșit, ar fi avut ocazia să se întoarcă.
16 But now they hunger for a better place, that is, Heaven. For this reason, God is not ashamed to be called their God. For he has prepared a city for them.
Dar acum, ei doresc o patrie mai bună, care este cerească; de aceea Dumnezeu nu se rușinează să fie numit Dumnezeul lor; fiindcă le-a pregătit o cetate.
17 By faith, Abraham, when he was tested, offered Isaac, so that he who had received the promises was offering up his only son.
Prin credință, Avraam, când a fost încercat, l-a oferit pe Isaac; și cel ce a primit promisiunile l-a oferit pe singurul său fiu născut,
18 To him, it was said, “Through Isaac, shall your offspring be summoned,”
Despre care s-a spus: Pentru că în Isaac îți va fi numită sămânța;
19 indicating that God is even able to raise up from the dead. And thus, he also established him as a parable.
Socotind că Dumnezeu a fost în stare să îl învie chiar dintre morți, de unde, printr-o prefigurare, l-a și primit.
20 By faith, also, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, concerning future events.
Prin credință, Isaac i-a binecuvântat pe Iacob și Esau referitor la lucrurile ce vor veni.
21 By faith, Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph; and he reverenced the summit of his rod.
Prin credință, Iacob, când era pe moarte, i-a binecuvântat pe amândoi fiii lui Iosif și s-a închinat, rezemat pe vârful toiagului său.
22 By faith, Joseph, as he was dying, recalled the departure of the sons of Israel, and gave a commandment concerning his bones.
Prin credință, Iosif, când i s-a apropiat sfârșitul, a amintit despre ieșirea copiilor lui Israel și a dat poruncă referitor la oasele sale.
23 By faith, Moses, after being born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they had seen that he was a graceful infant, and they did not fear the king’s edict.
Prin credință, Moise, după ce s-a născut, a fost ascuns trei luni de către părinții lui, pentru că au văzut că era un copil frumos; și nu s-au temut de porunca împăratului.
24 By faith, Moses, after growing up, denied himself a place as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
Prin credință, Moise, când a crescut mare, a refuzat să fie numit fiul fiicei lui Faraon,
25 choosing to be afflicted with the people of God, rather than to have the pleasantness of sin for a time,
Alegând mai degrabă să sufere necaz cu poporul lui Dumnezeu, decât să se bucure pentru o vreme de plăcerile păcatului.
26 valuing the reproach of Christ to be a greater wealth than the treasures of the Egyptians. For he looked forward to his reward.
Considerând ocara lui Cristos [ca] bogății mai mari decât tezaurele aflate în Egipt, fiindcă se uita la răsplătire.
27 By faith, he abandoned Egypt, not dreading the animosity of the king. For he pressed on, as if seeing him who is unseen.
Prin credință, a părăsit Egiptul, netemându-se de furia împăratului, fiindcă a îndurat, ca văzând pe cel care este invizibil.
28 By faith, he celebrated the Passover and the shedding of the blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn might not touch them.
Prin credință, a ținut paștele și stropirea sângelui, ca nu cumva cel ce nimicea pe întâii născuți să se atingă de ei.
29 By faith, they crossed the Red Sea, as if on dry land, yet when the Egyptians attempted it, they were swallowed up.
Prin credință, au trecut ca pe uscat prin Marea Roșie, în care egiptenii, încercând să o treacă, s-au înecat.
30 By faith, the walls of Jericho collapsed, after being encircled for seven days.
Prin credință, zidurile Ierihonului au căzut, după ce au fost înconjurate șapte zile.
31 By faith, Rahab, the harlot, did not perish with the unbelievers, after receiving the spies with peace.
Prin credință, curva Rahab nu a pierit cu cei care nu au crezut, fiindcă primise spionii cu pace.
32 And what should I say next? For time is not sufficient for me to give an account of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the Prophets:
Și ce să mai spun? Fiindcă nu mi-ar ajunge timpul să istorisesc despre Ghedeon și Barac și Samson și Iefta și despre David și Samuel și de profeți,
33 those who, by faith, conquered kingdoms, accomplished justice, obtained promises, closed the mouths of lions,
Care, prin credință, au supus împărății, au lucrat dreptate, au obținut promisiuni, au închis gurile leilor,
34 extinguished the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, recovered from infirmities, showed strength in battle, turned back the armies of foreigners.
Au stins puterea focului, au scăpat de ascuțișul sabiei, au fost întăriți prin slăbiciune, au devenit viteji în luptă, au pus pe fugă armatele străine.
35 Women received their dead by means of resurrection. But others suffered severe punishment, not yet receiving redemption, so that they would find a better resurrection.
Femeile i-au primit înapoi pe morții lor prin înviere; iar alții au fost torturați, neacceptând eliberarea, ca să obțină o înviere mai bună;
36 Truly, others were tested by mocking and lashes, and moreover by chains and imprisonment.
Și alții au suferit încercare prin batjocuri și biciuiri, da, chiar mai mult, prin lanțuri și închisoare;
37 They were stoned; they were cut; they were tempted. With the slaughter of the sword, they were killed. They wandered about in sheepskin and in goatskin, in dire need, in anguish afflicted.
Au fost uciși cu pietre, au fost tăiați în două cu fierăstrăul, au fost ispitiți, au murit uciși de sabie, au rătăcit în piei de oaie și de capre, fiind lipsiți, nenorociți, chinuiți;
38 Of them, the world was not worthy, wandering in solitude on mountains, in the caves and caverns of the earth.
(Ei, de care lumea nu era demnă); au rătăcit în pustiuri și în munți și în peșteri și crăpăturile pământului.
39 And all these, having been proven by the testimony of faith, did not receive the Promise.
Și toți aceștia, obținând o bună mărturie prin credință, nu au primit lucrurile promisiunii,
40 God’s Providence holds something better for us, so that not without us would they be perfected.
Dumnezeu pregătind ceva mai bun pentru noi, ca să nu fie făcuți desăvârșiți fără noi.
