Genesis 41
1 After two years, Pharaoh saw a dream. He thought himself to be standing above a river,
Es begab sich aber nach zwei Jahren, da hatte der Pharao einen Traum, und siehe, er stand am Nil.
2 from which ascended seven cows, exceedingly beautiful and stout. And they pastured in marshy places.
Und siehe, aus dem Nil stiegen sieben schöne und wohlgenährte Kühe herauf, die im Nilgras weideten.
3 Likewise, another seven emerged from the river, filthy and thoroughly emaciated. And they pastured on the same bank of the river, in green places.
Nach diesen aber stiegen sieben andere Kühe aus dem Nil herauf, von häßlicher Gestalt und magerem Leib; die traten neben die Kühe am Ufer des Nils.
4 And they devoured those whose appearance and condition of body was so wonderful. Pharaoh, having been awakened,
Und die sieben häßlichen, mageren Kühe fraßen die sieben schönen, wohlgenährten Kühe. Da erwachte der Pharao.
5 slept again, and he saw another dream. Seven ears of grain sprung up on one stalk, full and well-formed.
Er schlief aber wieder ein und träumte zum zweitenmal, und siehe, da wuchsen sieben Ähren auf einem einzigen Halm, die waren voll und gut;
6 Likewise, other ears of grain, of the same number, rose up, thin and struck with blight,
nach denselben aber siehe, da sproßten sieben dünne und vom Ostwind versengte Ähren.
7 devouring all the beauty of the first. Pharaoh, when he awakened after his rest,
Und die sieben dünnen Ähren verschlangen die sieben schweren und vollen Ähren. Da erwachte der Pharao und siehe, es war ein Traum!
8 and when morning arrived, being terrified with fear, sent to all the interpreters of Egypt and to all of the wise men. And when they were summoned, he explained to them his dream; but there was no one who could interpret it.
Da sich aber sein Geist beunruhigte, ließ er am Morgen alle ägyptischen Wahrsager und Weisen rufen und erzählte ihnen seinen Traum; aber da war keiner, der ihn dem Pharao auslegen konnte.
9 Then at last the chief cupbearer, remembering, said, “I confess my sin.
Da sprach der oberste Mundschenk zum Pharao: Ich gedenke heute meiner Sünde!
10 The king, being angry with his servants, ordered me and the chief miller of grain to be forced into the prison of the leader of the military.
Als der Pharao über seine Knechte zornig war und mich im Hause des Obersten der Leibwache in Gewahrsam legte, mitsamt dem obersten Bäcker,
11 There, in one night, both of us saw a dream presaging the future.
da träumte uns in der gleichen Nacht, mir und ihm, einem jeden ein Traum von besonderer Bedeutung.
12 In that place, there was a Hebrew, a servant of the same commander of the military, to whom we explained our dreams.
Und daselbst war ein hebräischer Jüngling bei uns, ein Knecht des Obersten der Leibwache; dem erzählten wir es, und er legte uns unsre Träume aus, einem jeden ganz genau.
13 Whatever we heard was proven afterwards by the event of the matter. For I was restored to my office, and he was suspended on a cross.”
Und so wie er es uns auslegte, so ist es gekommen; mich hat man wieder in mein Amt eingesetzt, und ihn hat man gehängt.
14 Immediately, by the king’s authority, Joseph was led out of prison, and they shaved him. And changing his apparel, they presented him to him.
Da sandte der Pharao hin und ließ Joseph rufen. Und sie entließen ihn eilends aus dem Loch. Er aber ließ sich scheren und wechselte seine Kleider und ging zum Pharao hinein.
15 And he said to him, “I have seen dreams, and there is no one who can unfold them. I have heard that you are very wise at interpreting these.”
Und der Pharao sprach zu Joseph: Ich habe einen Traum gehabt, aber es kann ihn niemand auslegen; nun vernahm ich von dir, wenn du einen Traum hörest, so legest du ihn auch aus.
16 Joseph responded, “Apart from me, God will respond favorably to Pharaoh.”
Joseph antwortete dem Pharao und sprach: Nicht mir steht dies zu. Möge Gott antworten, was dem Pharao Heil bringt!
17 Therefore, Pharaoh explained what he had seen: “I thought myself to be standing on the bank of a river,
Da sprach der Pharao zu Joseph: Siehe, in meinem Traum stand ich am Ufer des Nils;
18 and seven cows climbed up from the river, exceedingly beautiful and full of flesh. And they grazed in a pasture of a marshy greenery.
und siehe, da stiegen aus dem Nil sieben wohlgenährte Kühe von schöner Gestalt herauf, die im Nilgras weideten.
19 And behold, there followed after these, another seven cows, with such deformity and emaciation as I had never seen in the land of Egypt.
Und siehe, nach ihnen stiegen sieben andere Kühe herauf, geringe Ware, und von sehr häßlicher Gestalt und magerem Leib, wie ich in ganz Ägyptenland keine so häßlichen gesehen habe.
20 These devoured and consumed the first,
Und diese mageren, häßlichen Kühe fraßen die sieben ersten wohlgenährten Kühe.
21 giving no indication of being full. But they remained in the same state of emaciation and squalor. Awakening, but being weighed down into sleep again,
Als sie aber die verschlungen hatten, merkte man nichts davon; denn sie waren so häßlich wie zuvor. Da erwachte ich.
22 I saw a dream. Seven ears of grain sprang up on one stalk, full and very beautiful.
Und ich sah weiter in meinem Traum, und siehe, sieben volle und gute Ähren wuchsen an einem einzigen Halme auf.
23 Likewise, another seven, thin and struck with blight, rose up from the stalk.
Und siehe, nach denselben sproßten sieben dürre, magere und vom Ostwind versengte Ähren hervor;
24 And they devoured the beauty of the first. I explained this dream to the interpreters, and there is no one who can unfold it.”
und die sieben mageren Ähren verschlangen die sieben guten. Solches habe ich den Schriftkundigen erzählt, aber keiner kann es mir erklären.
25 Joseph responded: “The dream of the king is one. What God will do, he has revealed to Pharaoh.
Da sprach Joseph zum Pharao: Was dem Pharao geträumt hat, ist eins: Gott hat dem Pharao angezeigt, was er tun will.
26 The seven beautiful cows, and the seven full ears of grain, are seven years of abundance. And so the force of the dreams is understood to be the same.
Die sieben guten Kühe sind sieben Jahre, und die sieben guten Ähren sind auch sieben Jahre; es ist einerlei Traum.
27 Likewise, the seven thin and emaciated cows, which ascended after them, and the seven thin ears of grain, which were struck with the burning wind, are seven approaching years of famine.
Die sieben mageren und häßlichen Kühe, die nach jenen heraufkamen, sind sieben Jahre; desgleichen die sieben leeren, vom Ostwind versengten Ähren; es werden sieben Hungerjahre sein.
28 These will be fulfilled in this order.
Darum sagte ich zu dem Pharao, Gott habe dem Pharao gezeigt, was er tun will.
29 Behold, there will arrive seven years of great fertility throughout the entire land of Egypt.
Siehe, es kommen sieben Jahre, da wird großer Überfluß in ganz Ägyptenland herrschen;
30 After this, there will follow another seven years, of such great barrenness that all the former abundance will be delivered into oblivion. For the famine will consume all the land,
aber nach denselben werden sieben Hungerjahre eintreten, da man all diesen Überfluß im Lande Ägypten vergessen wird;
31 and the greatness of this destitution will cause the greatness of the abundance to be lost.
und die Hungersnot wird das Land aufzehren, daß man nichts mehr merken wird von dem Überfluß, infolge der Hungersnot, die hernach kommt; denn sie wird sehr drückend sein.
32 Now, as to what you saw the second time, it is a dream pertaining to the same thing. It is an indication of its firmness, because the word of God shall be done, and it shall be completed swiftly.
Daß es aber dem Pharao zum zweitenmal geträumt hat, das bedeutet, daß das Wort gewiß von Gott kommt, und daß Gott es eilends ausführen wird.
33 Now therefore, let the king provide a wise and industrious man, and place him over the land of Egypt,
Und nun sehe der Pharao nach einem verständigen und weisen Mann und setze ihn über Ägyptenland;
34 so that he may appoint overseers throughout all the regions. And let a fifth part of the fruits, throughout the seven fertile years
der Pharao verschaffe und setze Aufseher über das Land und lasse in den sieben Jahren des Überflusses den fünften Teil [der Ernte] vom Lande Ägypten erheben.
35 that now have already begun to occur, be gathered into storehouses. And let all the grain be stored away, under the power of Pharaoh, and let it be kept in the cities.
Also soll man alle Nahrung dieser sieben künftigen guten Jahre sammeln und Getreide aufspeichern zur Verfügung des Pharaos, und solche Nahrung in den Städten verwahren.
36 And let it be prepared for the future famine of seven years, which will oppress Egypt, and then the land will not be consumed by destitution.”
Und diese Nahrung soll dem Land als Vorrat dienen für die sieben Hungerjahre, welche in Ägyptenland eintreten werden, daß das Land durch die Hungersnot nicht entvölkert werde.
37 The counsel pleased Pharaoh and all his ministers.
Diese Rede gefiel dem Pharao und allen seinen Knechten wohl.
38 And he said to them, “Would we be able to find another such man, who is full of the Spirit of God?”
Und der Pharao sprach zu seinen Knechten: Können wir einen Mann finden wie diesen, in welchem der Geist Gottes ist?
39 Therefore, he said to Joseph: “Because God has revealed to you all that you have said, would I be able to find anyone wiser and as much like you?
Der Pharao sprach zu Joseph: Nachdem Gott dir solches alles kundgetan hat, ist keiner so verständig und weise wie du!
40 You will be over my house, and to the authority of your mouth, all the people will show obedience. Only in one way, in the throne of the kingdom, will I go before you.”
Du sollst über mein Haus sein, und deinem Befehl soll mein ganzes Volk gehorchen; nur um den Thron will ich höher sein als du.
41 And again, Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Behold, I have appointed you over the entire land of Egypt.”
Weiter sprach der Pharao zu Joseph: Siehe, ich habe dich über ganz Ägyptenland gesetzt!
42 And he took the ring from his own hand, and he gave it into his hand. And he clothed him with a robe of fine linen, and he placed a necklace of gold around his neck.
Und der Pharao nahm den Siegelring von seiner Hand und steckte ihn an Josephs Hand und bekleidete ihn mit weißer Leinwand und legte eine goldene Kette um seinen Hals
43 And he caused him to ascend upon his second swift chariot, with the herald proclaiming that everyone should bend their knee before him, and that they should know that he was governor over the entire land of Egypt.
und ließ ihn auf seinem zweiten Wagen fahren; und man rief vor ihm aus: «Beugt eure Knie!» Und also wurde er über ganz Ägyptenland gesetzt.
44 Likewise, the king said to Joseph: “I am Pharaoh: apart from your authority, no one will move hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”
Und der Pharao sprach zu Joseph: Ich bin der Pharao, und ohne dich soll niemand in ganz Ägyptenland die Hand oder den Fuß erheben!
45 And he changed his name and called him, in the Egyptian tongue: ‘Savior of the world.’ And he gave him as a wife, Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis. And so Joseph went out into the land of Egypt.
Und der Pharao nannte den Joseph Zaphenat-Paneach und gab ihm Asnath, die Tochter Potipheras, des Priesters zu On, zum Weibe.
46 (Now he was thirty years old when he stood in the sight of king Pharaoh.) And he traveled throughout the regions of Egypt.
Und Joseph zog aus durch ganz Ägyptenland. Er war aber dreißig Jahre alt, da er vor dem Pharao stand. Und er ging vom Pharao aus und bereiste ganz Ägyptenland.
47 And the fertility of the seven years arrived. And when the grain fields were reduced to sheaves, these were gathered into the storehouses of Egypt.
Und das Land trug in den sieben Jahren des Überflusses haufenweise.
48 And now all the abundance of grain was stored away in every city.
Und er sammelte allen Ertrag der sieben Jahre, in denen in Ägyptenland Überfluß herrschte, und tat die Nahrungsmittel in die Städte; nämlich den Ertrag der Felder rings um die Städte brachte er in diese.
49 And there was such a great abundance of wheat that it was comparable to the sands of the sea, and its bounty exceeded all measure.
Und Joseph speicherte Getreide auf wie Sand am Meer, bis er es nicht mehr messen konnte; denn es war unermeßlich viel.
50 Then, before the famine arrived, Joseph had two sons born, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis, bore for him.
Ehe aber die teure Zeit kam, wurden Joseph zwei Söhne geboren; die gebar ihm Asnath, die Tochter Potipheras, des Priesters zu On.
51 And he called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, saying, “God has caused me to forget all my labors and the house of my father.”
Und Joseph nannte den Erstgebornen Manasse; denn er sprach: Gott hat mich vergessen lassen alle meine Mühsal und das ganze Haus meines Vaters.
52 Likewise, he named the second Ephraim, saying, “God has caused me to increase in the land of my poverty.”
Den zweiten aber nannte er Ephraim; denn er sprach: Gott hat mich fruchtbar gemacht im Lande meines Elends.
53 And so, when the seven years of fertility that occurred in Egypt had passed,
Als nun die sieben Jahre des Überflusses im Lande Ägypten verflossen waren,
54 the seven years of destitution, which Joseph had predicted, began to arrive. And the famine prevailed throughout the whole world, but there was bread in all the land of Egypt.
da brachen die sieben Hungerjahre an, wie Joseph vorausgesagt hatte. Und es entstand eine Hungersnot in allen Ländern; aber in ganz Ägyptenland war Brot.
55 And being hungry, the people cried out to Pharaoh, asking for provisions. And he said to them: “Go to Joseph. And do whatever he will tell you.”
Und als Ägypten Hunger litt und das Volk zum Pharao um Brot schrie, da sprach der Pharao zu allen Ägyptern: Geht hin zu Joseph; was er euch sagen wird, das tut!
56 Then the famine increased daily in all the land. And Joseph opened all of the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. For the famine had oppressed them also.
Und da die Hungersnot im ganzen Lande herrschte, tat Joseph alle [Kornspeicher] auf und verkaufte den Ägyptern Getreide; denn die Hungersnot nahm überhand in Ägyptenland.
57 And all the provinces came to Egypt, to buy food and to temper the misfortune of their destitution.
Und alle Welt kam nach Ägypten, um bei Joseph Korn zu kaufen; denn es herrschte allenthalben große Hungersnot.
