< Genesis 4 >

1 Truly, Adam knew his wife Eve, who conceived and gave birth to Cain, saying, “I have obtained a man through God.”
Ary Adama nahalala an’ i Eva vadiny; dia nanan’ anaka Eva ka niteraka an’ i Kaina, ary hoy izy: Efa nahazo zazalahy tamin’ i Jehovah aho.
2 And again she gave birth to his brother Abel. But Abel was a pastor of sheep, and Cain was a farmer.
Ary niteraka an’ i Abela rahalahiny koa izy. Ary Abela dia mpiandry ondry, fa Kaina kosa mpiasa tany.
3 Then it happened, after many days, that Cain offered gifts to the Lord, from the fruits of the earth.
Ary rehefa afaka elaela, dia nitondran’ i Kaina ny vokatry ny tany ho fanatitra ho an’ i Jehovah;
4 Abel likewise offered from the firstborn of his flock, and from their fat. And the Lord looked with favor on Abel and his gifts.
fa nitondran’ i Abela kosa ny voalohan-terak’ ondriny, dia izay matavy. Ary Jehovah nankasitraka an’ i Abela mbamin’ ny fanatiny;
5 Yet in truth, he did not look with favor on Cain and his gifts. And Cain was vehemently angry, and his countenance fell.
fa Kaina mbamin’ ny fanatiny kosa tsy mba nankasitrahany. Dia tezitra indrindra Kaina, sady nanjombona ny tarehiny.
6 And the Lord said to him: “Why are you angry? And why is your face fallen?
Ary hoy Jehovah tamin’ i Kaina: Nahoana no tezitra ianao? Ary nahoana no manjombona ny tarehinao?
7 If you behave well, will you not receive? But if you behave badly, will not sin at once be present at the door? And so its desire will be within you, and you will be dominated by it.”
Raha tsara toetra ianao, moa tsy ho miramirana va? Fa raha tsy tsara toetra kosa ianao, dia mamitsaka eo am-baravarana ny ota; ary ianao no kendren’ ny faniriany, kanefa ianao no tokony hanapaka azy.
8 And Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go outside.” And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and he put him to death.
Ary Kaina niteny tamin’ i Abela rahalahiny; ary nony tany an-tsaha izy mirahalahy, dia nitsangana Kaina nanatona an’ i Abela rahalahiny, ka namono azy.
9 And the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” And he responded: “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
Ary hoy Jehovah tamin’ i Kaina: Aiza Abela rahalahinao? Fa hoy izy: Asa; moa mpitandrina ny rahalahiko va aho?
10 And he said to him: “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to me from the land.
Ary hoy Izy: Inona no nataonao? Ny feon’ ny ran’ ny rahalahinao mitaraina amiko avy amin’ ny tany.
11 Now, therefore, you will be cursed upon the land, which opened its mouth and received the blood of your brother at your hand.
Ary ankehitriny dia voaozona ianao hiala amin’ ny tany onenana, izay nivava hitelina ny ran’ ny rahalahinao nalatsaky ny tananao.
12 When you work it, it will not give you its fruit; a vagrant and a fugitive shall you be upon the land.”
Raha miasa ny tany ianao, tsy mba hahavokatra ho anao intsony izy; ho mpanjenjena sy mpirenireny eny ambonin’ ny tany ianao.
13 And Cain said to the Lord: “My iniquity is too great to deserve kindness.
Dia hoy Kaina tamin’ i Jehovah: Lehibe ny valin’ ny heloko mihoatra noho izay zakako.
14 Behold, you have cast me out this day before the face of the earth, and from your face I will be hidden; and I will be a vagrant and a fugitive on the earth. Therefore, anyone who finds me will kill me.”
Indro, efa noroahinao hiala amin’ ny tany onenana aho androany; dia hiery ny tavanao aho ary ho mpanjenjena sy mpirenireny eny ambonin’ ny tany; koa na iza na iza hahita ahy dia hamono ahy.
15 And the Lord said to him: “By no means will it be so; rather, whoever would kill Cain, will be punished sevenfold.” And the Lord placed a seal upon Cain, so that anyone who found him would not put him to death.
Ary hoy Jehovah taminy: Noho izany na iza na iza hamono an’ i Kaina, dia hovaliana fito eny izy. Ary Jehovah nanao famantarana ho an’ i Kaina; mba tsy hisy hamono azy izay rehetra hahita azy.
16 And so Cain, departing from the face of the Lord, lived as a fugitive on the earth, toward the eastern region of Eden.
Ary Kaina dia niala teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah ka nonina tao amin’ ny tany Noda tandrifin’ i Edena.
17 Then Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. And he built a city, and he called its name by the name of his son, Enoch.
Ary Kaina nahalala ny vadiny, dia nanan’ anaka ravehivavy ka niteraka an’ i Enoka; ary nanorina vohitra Kaina, ka ny anaran’ ny vohitra dia nataony hoe Enoka, araka ny anaran’ ny zananilahy.
18 Thereafter, Enoch conceived Irad, and Irad conceived Mahujael, and Mahujael conceived Mathusael, and Mathusael conceived Lamech.
Ary Enoka niteraka an’ Irada; ary Irada niteraka an’ i Mehojaela; ary Mehojaela niteraka an’ i Metosaela; ary Metosaela niteraka an’ i Lameka.
19 Lamech took two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the other was Zillah.
Ary Lameka nampirafy roa: ny anaran’ ny anankiray Ada, ary ny anaran’ ny anankiray Zila.
20 And Adah conceived Jabel, who was the father of those who live in tents and are shepherds.
Ary Ada niteraka an’ i Jabala; izy no rain’ ny mpitoetra an-day, mpiandry omby aman’ ondry.
21 And the name of his brother was Jubal; he was the father of those who sing to the harp and the organ.
Ary ny anaran’ ny rahalahiny dia Jobala; izy no rain’ ny mpitendry lokanga sy mpitsoka sodina rehetra.
22 Zillah also conceived Tubalcain, who was a hammerer and artisan in every work of brass and iron. In fact, the sister of Tubalcain was Noema.
Ary Zila kosa niteraka an’ i Tobala-kaina, mpanefy fiasana maranitra, na varahina na vy; ary ny anabavin’ i Tobala-kaina dia Nama.
23 And Lamech said to his wives Adah and Zillah: “Listen to my voice, you wives of Lamech, pay attention to my speech. For I have killed a man to my own harm, and an adolescent to my own bruising.
Ary hoy Lameka tamin’ ny vadiny: Ry Ada sy Zila ô, mihainoa ny feoko; Ry vadin’ i Lameka, mitandrema ny teniko: Efa namono lehilahy aho noho ny feriko, Ary tovolahy noho ny faharatrako.
24 Sevenfold vengeance will be given for Cain, but for Lamech, seventy-seven times.”
Raha valiana fito heny izay mamono an’ i Kaina, Dia fito amby fito-polo heny kosa izay mamono an’ i Lameka.
25 Adam also knew his wife again, and she gave birth to a son, and she called his name Seth, saying, “God has given me another offspring, in place of Abel, whom Cain killed.”
Ary Adama nahalala ny vadiny indray, ka dia niteraka zazalahy ravehivavy; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Seta; fa Andriamanitra, hoy izy, efa nanome ahy zanaka anankiray koa ho solon’ i Abela, satria novonoin’ i Kaina izy.
26 But to Seth also was born a son, whom he called Enos. This one began to invoke the name of the Lord.
Ary Seta koa niteraka zazalahy; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Enosy.
