Genesis 15
1 And so, these things having been transacted, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your protector, and your reward is exceedingly great.”
അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അബ്രാമിന്നു ദൎശനത്തിൽ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ: അബ്രാമേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പരിചയും നിന്റെ അതിമഹത്തായ പ്രതിഫലവും ആകുന്നു.
2 And Abram said: “Lord God, what will you give to me? I may go without children. And the son of the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.”
അതിന്നു അബ്രാം: കൎത്താവായ യഹോവേ, നീ എനിക്കു എന്തു തരും? ഞാൻ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവനായി നടക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്റെ അവകാശി ദമ്മേശെക്കുകാരനായ ഈ എല്യേസെർ അത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3 And Abram added: “Yet to me you have not given offspring. And behold, my servant born in my house will be my heir.”
നീ എനിക്കു സന്തതിയെ തന്നിട്ടില്ല, എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ജനിച്ച ദാസൻ എന്റെ അവകാശിയാകുന്നു എന്നും അബ്രാം പറഞ്ഞു.
4 And immediately the word of the Lord came to him, saying: “This one will not be your heir. But he who will come from your loins, the same will you have for your heir.”
അവൻ നിന്റെ അവകാശിയാകയില്ല; നിന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്നവൻ തന്നേ നിന്റെ അവകാശിയാകും എന്നു അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.
5 And he brought him outside, and he said to him, “Take in the heavens, and number the stars, if you can.” And he said to him, “So also will your offspring be.”
പിന്നെ അവൻ അവനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു: നീ ആകാശത്തേക്കു നോക്കുക; നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ എണ്ണുവാൻ കഴിയുമെങ്കിൽ എണ്ണുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. നിന്റെ സന്തതി ഇങ്ങനെ ആകും എന്നും അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചു.
6 Abram believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice.
അവൻ യഹോവയിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു; അതു അവൻ അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു.
7 And he said to him, “I am the Lord who led you away from Ur of the Chaldeans, so as to give you this land, and so that you would possess it.”
പിന്നെ അവനോടു: ഈ ദേശത്തെ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുവാൻ കൽദയപട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽനിന്നു നിന്നെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവ ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
8 But he said, “Lord God, in what way may I be able to know that I will possess it?”
കൎത്താവായ യഹോവേ, ഞാൻ അതിനെ അവകാശമാക്കുമെന്നുള്ളതു എനിക്കു എന്തൊന്നിനാൽ അറിയാം എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു.
9 And the Lord responded by saying: “Take for me a cow of three years, and a she-goat of three years, and a ram of three years, also a turtle-dove and a pigeon.”
അവൻ അവനോടു: നീ മൂന്നു വയസ്സുള്ള ഒരു പശുക്കിടാവിനെയും മൂന്നുവയസ്സുള്ള ഒരു കോലാടിനെയും മൂന്നു വയസ്സുള്ള ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും ഒരു കുറുപ്രാവിനെയും ഒരു പ്രാവിൻകുഞ്ഞിനെയും കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
10 Taking all these, he divided them through the middle, and placed both parts opposite one another. But the birds he did not divide.
ഇവയെയൊക്കെയും അവൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഒത്തനടുവെപിളൎന്നു ഭാഗങ്ങളെ നേൎക്കുനേരെ വെച്ചു; പക്ഷികളെയോ അവൻ പിളൎന്നില്ല.
11 And birds descended upon the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
ഉടലുകളിന്മേൽ റാഞ്ചൻപക്ഷികൾ ഇറങ്ങി വന്നപ്പോൾ അബ്രാം അവയെ ആട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
12 And when the sun was setting, a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and a dread, great and dark, invaded him.
സൂൎയ്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോൾ അബ്രാമിന്നു ഒരു ഗാഢനിദ്ര വന്നു; ഭീതിയും അന്ധതമസ്സും അവന്റെ മേൽ വീണു.
13 And it was said to him: “Know beforehand that your future offspring will be sojourners in a land not their own, and they will subjugate them in servitude and afflict them for four hundred years.
അപ്പോൾ അവൻ അബ്രാമിനോടു: നിന്റെ സന്തതി സ്വന്തമല്ലാത്ത ദേശത്തു നാനൂറു സംവത്സരം പ്രവാസികളായിരുന്നു ആ ദേശക്കാരെ സേവിക്കും; അവർ അവരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു നീ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക.
14 Yet truly, I will judge the nation that they will serve, and after this they will depart with great substance.
എന്നാൽ അവർ സേവിക്കുന്ന ജാതിയെ ഞാൻ വിധിക്കും; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവർ വളരെ സമ്പത്തോടുംകൂടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോരും.
15 But you will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age.
നീയോ സമാധാനത്തോടെ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ചേരും; നല്ല വാൎദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ അടക്കപ്പെടും.
16 But in the fourth generation, they will return here. For the iniquities of the Amorites are not yet completed, even to this present time.”
നാലാം തലമുറക്കാർ ഇവിടേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരും; അമോൎയ്യരുടെ അക്രമം ഇതുവരെ തികഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
17 Then, when the sun had set, there came a dark mist, and there appeared a smoking furnace and a lamp of fire passing between those divisions.
സൂൎയ്യൻ അസ്തമിച്ചു ഇരുട്ടായശേഷം ഇതാ, പുകയുന്ന ഒരു തീച്ചൂള; ആ ഭാഗങ്ങളുടെ നടുവെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പന്തം കടന്നുപോയി.
18 On that day, God formed a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your offspring I will give this land, from the river of Egypt, even to the great river Euphrates:
അന്നു യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോടു ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു: നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഞാൻ മിസ്രയീംനദി തുടങ്ങി ഫ്രാത്ത് നദിയായ മഹാനദിവരെയുള്ള ഈ ദേശത്തെ,
19 the land of the Kenites and the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites
കേന്യർ, കെനിസ്യർ, കദ്മോന്യർ, ഹിത്യർ,
20 and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, likewise the Rephaim,
പെറിസ്യർ, രെഫായീമ്യർ, അമോൎയ്യർ,
21 and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”
കനാന്യർ, ഗിർഗ്ഗശ്യർ, യെബൂസ്യർ എന്നിവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ തന്നേ, തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
