Genesis 11
1 Now the earth was of one language and of the same speech.
| و تمام جهان را یک زبان و یک لغت بود. | ۱ |
2 And when they were advancing from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt in it.
| و واقع شد که چون از مشرق کوچ می‌کردند، همواری‌ای در زمین شنعار یافتند و درآنجا سکنی گرفتند. | ۲ |
3 And each one said to his neighbor, “Come, let us make bricks, and bake them with fire.” And they had bricks instead of stones, and pitch instead of mortar.
| و به یکدیگر گفتند: «بیایید، خشتها بسازیم و آنها را خوب بپزیم.» و ایشان راآجر به‌جای سنگ بود، و قیر به‌جای گچ. | ۳ |
4 And they said: “Come, let us make a city and a tower, so that its height may reach to heaven. And let us make our name famous before we are divided into all the lands.”
| وگفتند: «بیایید شهری برای خود بنا نهیم، و برجی را که سرش به آسمان برسد، تا نامی برای خویشتن پیدا کنیم، مبادا بر روی تمام زمین پراکنده شویم.» | ۴ |
5 Then the Lord descended to see the city and the tower, which the sons of Adam were building.
| و خداوند نزول نمود تا شهر وبرجی را که بنی آدم بنا می‌کردند، ملاحظه نماید. | ۵ |
6 And he said: “Behold, the people are united, and all have one tongue. And since they have begun to do this, they will not desist from their plans, until they have completed their work.
| و خداوند گفت: «همانا قوم یکی است و جمیع ایشان را یک زبان و این کار را شروع کرده‌اند، والان هیچ کاری که قصد آن بکنند، از ایشان ممتنع نخواهد شد. | ۶ |
7 Therefore, come, let us descend, and in that place confound their tongue, so that they may not listen, each one to the voice of his neighbor.”
| اکنون نازل شویم و زبان ایشان رادر آنجا مشوش سازیم تا سخن یکدیگر رانفهمند.» | ۷ |
8 And so the Lord divided them from that place into all the lands, and they ceased to build the city.
| پس خداوند ایشان را از آنجا بر روی تمام زمین پراکنده ساخت و از بنای شهر بازماندند. | ۸ |
9 And for this reason, its name was called ‘Babel,’ because in that place the language of the whole earth became confused. And from then on, the Lord scattered them across the face of every region.
| از آن سبب آنجا را بابل نامیدند، زیرا که در آنجا خداوند لغت تمامی اهل جهان رامشوش ساخت. و خداوند ایشان را از آنجا برروی تمام زمین پراکنده نمود. | ۹ |
10 These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old when he conceived Arphaxad, two years after the great flood.
| این است پیدایش سام. چون سام صد ساله بود، ارفکشاد را دو سال بعد از طوفان آورد. | ۱۰ |
11 And after he conceived Arphaxad, Shem lived for five hundred years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| وسام بعد از آوردن ارفکشاد، پانصد سال زندگانی کرد و پسران و دختران آورد. | ۱۱ |
12 Next, Arphaxad lived for thirty-five years, and then he conceived Shelah.
| و ارفکشاد سی وپنج سال بزیست و شالح را آورد. | ۱۲ |
13 And after he conceived Shelah, Arphaxad lived for three hundred and three years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| و ارفکشادبعد از آوردن شالح، چهار صد و سه سال زندگانی کرد و پسران و دختران آورد. | ۱۳ |
14 Likewise, Shelah lived for thirty years, and then he conceived Eber.
| و شالح سی سال بزیست، و عابر را آورد. | ۱۴ |
15 And after he conceived Eber, Shelah lived for four hundred and three years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| و شالح بعد از آوردن عابر، چهارصد و سه سال زندگانی کرد و پسران ودختران آورد. | ۱۵ |
16 Then Eber lived for thirty-four years, and he conceived Peleg.
| و عابر سی و چهار سال بزیست و فالج را آورد. | ۱۶ |
17 And after he conceived Peleg, Eber lived for four hundred and thirty years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| و عابر بعد از آوردن فالج، چهار صد و سی سال زندگانی کرد و پسران ودختران آورد. | ۱۷ |
18 Likewise, Peleg lived for thirty years, and then he conceived Reu.
| و فالج سی سال بزیست، و رعورا آورد. | ۱۸ |
19 And after he conceived Reu, Peleg lived for two hundred and nine years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| و فالج بعد از آوردن رعو، دویست ونه سال زندگانی کرد و پسران و دختران آورد. | ۱۹ |
20 Then Reu lived for thirty-two years, and then he conceived Serug.
| ورعو سی و دو سال بزیست، و سروج را آورد. | ۲۰ |
21 Likewise, after he conceived Serug, Reu lived for two hundred and seven years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| ورعو بعد از آوردن سروج، دویست و هفت سال زندگانی کرد و پسران و دختران آورد. | ۲۱ |
22 In truth, Serug lived for thirty years, and then he conceived Nahor.
| وسروج سی سال بزیست، و ناحور را آورد. | ۲۲ |
23 And after he conceived Nahor, Serug lived for two hundred years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| وسروج بعد از آوردن ناحور، دویست سال بزیست و پسران و دختران آورد. | ۲۳ |
24 And so Nahor lived for twenty-nine years, and then he conceived Terah.
| و ناحور بیست و نه سال بزیست، و تارح را آورد. | ۲۴ |
25 And after he conceived Terah, Nahor lived for one hundred and nineteen years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
| و ناحور بعد ازآوردن تارح، صد و نوزده سال زندگانی کرد وپسران و دختران آورد. | ۲۵ |
26 And Terah lived for seventy years, and then he conceived Abram, and Nahor, and Haran.
| و تارح هفتاد سال بزیست، و ابرام و ناحور و هاران را آورد. | ۲۶ |
27 And these are the generations of Terah. Terah conceived Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Next Haran conceived Lot.
| و این است پیدایش تارح که تارح، ابرام وناحور و هاران را آورد، و هاران، لوط را آورد. | ۲۷ |
28 And Haran died before his father Terah, in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldeans.
| وهاران پیش پدر خود، تارح در زادبوم خویش دراور کلدانیان بمرد. | ۲۸ |
29 Then Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai. And the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
| و ابرام و ناحور زنان برای خود گرفتند. زن ابرام را سارای نام بود. و زن ناحور را ملکه نام بود، دختر هاران، پدر ملکه وپدر یسکه. | ۲۹ |
30 But Sarai was barren and had no children.
| اما سارای نازاد مانده، ولدی نیاورد. | ۳۰ |
31 And so Terah took his son Abram, and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and he led them away from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan. And they approached as far as Haran, and they dwelt there.
| پس تارح پسر خود ابرام، و نواده خودلوط، پسر هاران، و عروس خود سارای، زوجه پسرش ابرام را برداشته، با ایشان از اور کلدانیان بیرون شدند تا به ارض کنعان بروند، و به حران رسیده، در آنجا توقف نمودند. | ۳۱ |
32 And the days of Terah that passed were two hundred and five years, and then he died in Haran.
| و مدت زندگانی تارح، دویست و پنج سال بود، و تارح درحران مرد. | ۳۲ |
