< Ezekiel 8 >
1 And it happened that, in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth of the month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me, and the hand of the Lord God fell upon me there.
Pea naʻe hoko ʻi hono ono ʻoe taʻu, mo hono ono ʻoe māhina, pea ʻi hono nima ʻoe ʻaho ʻi he māhina, naʻaku nofo ʻi hoku fale, pea naʻe nofo ʻi hoku ʻao ʻae kau mātuʻa ʻo Siuta, ne hoko mai kiate au ʻae nima ʻoe ʻOtua ko Sihova.
2 And I saw, and behold, there was an image with the appearance of fire. From the appearance of his waist, and downward, there was fire. And from his waist, and upward, there was the appearance of splendor, like the sight of amber.
Pea ne u mamata, pea vakai, ko e meʻa ʻoku tatau mo e afi: ko e hā mai ʻa hono kongaloto ʻo fai ki lalo ko e afi; pea mei hono kongaloto ʻo fai ki ʻolunga naʻe ha ngingila, ʻo hangē ko e lanu ʻoe ʻamipa.
3 And as the image of a hand went out, it took hold of me by a lock of my head. And the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven. And he brought me into Jerusalem, within a vision of God, next to the inner gate that looked toward the north, where there was stationed an idol of rivalry, so as to provoke an envious emulation.
Pea naʻe ʻai mai ʻae tatau ʻo ha nima, ʻo ne puke au ʻi hoku louʻulu; pea hiki au ʻe he laumālie ki he vahaʻa ʻo māmani pea mo e langi, ʻo ne ʻomi au ʻi he meʻa hā mai ʻae ʻOtua ki Selūsalema, ki he matapā ʻoe kātupa ki loto ʻaia ʻoku hanga ki he tokelau; ʻaia naʻe ʻi ai ʻae nofoʻanga ʻoe fakatātā ki he fuaʻa, ʻaia ʻoku fakatupu ʻae fuaʻa.
4 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, in accord with the vision that I had seen in the plain.
Pea vakai, naʻe ʻi ai ʻae nāunau ʻoe ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli ʻo tatau mo ʻene hā mai naʻaku mamata ai ʻi he teleʻa.
5 And he said to me: “Son of man, lift up your eyes to the way of the north.” And I lifted up my eyes to the way of the north. And behold, from the north of the gate of the altar was the idol of rivalry, at the same entrance.
Pea ne toki pehē kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, hanga hake eni ho mata ki he potu fakatokelau.” Ko ia naʻaku fakahanga hoku mata ki he potu tokelau, pea vakai, naʻe ʻi ai ʻae fakatātā ʻoe fuaʻa ʻi hono potu fakatokelau ʻoe matapā ʻoe feilaulauʻanga, ʻi hono hūʻanga.
6 And he said to me: “Son of man, you see what these ones are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel is committing here. Do you not think, then, that I should withdraw far away from my own sanctuary? But if you turn again, you will see even greater abominations.”
Naʻa ne pehē foki kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, ʻOku ke mamata ki he meʻa ʻoku nau fai? ʻIo, ʻae ngaahi fakalielia lahi ʻoku fai ʻi heni ʻe he fale ʻo ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi ke u ʻalu mamaʻo atu mei hoku potu toputapu? Ka ke toe tangaki hake, pea te ke sio ki he ngaahi fakalielia ʻoku lahi hake.”
7 And he led me in by the door of the atrium. And I saw, and behold, there was an opening in the wall.
Pea naʻa ne ʻomi au ki he matapā ʻoe lotoʻā; pea ʻi heʻeku sio, vakai ko e ava naʻe ʻi he ʻā.
8 And he said to me: “Son of man, dig in the wall.” And when I had dug in the wall, there appeared one door.
Pea ne pehē kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, ke ke keli ʻi he ʻā: pea ʻi heʻeku keli ʻi he ʻā, vakai ko e matapā.”
9 And he said to me: “Enter and see the most wicked abominations which they are committing here.”
Pea naʻa ne pehē kiate au, “Hū atu mo mamata ki he ngaahi kovi fakalielia ʻoku nau fai ʻi heni.”
10 And entering, I saw, and behold, every kind of image of reptiles and animals, the abominations, and all of the idols of the house of Israel were depicted on the wall all around, throughout the entire place.
Ko ia naʻaku hū ki ai ʻo mamata; pea vakai naʻe tohi takatakai ki he holisi fale ʻae fakatātā ki he anga ʻoe meʻa totolo kotoa pē, mo e fanga manu fakalielia, pea mo e ngaahi tamapua kotoa pē ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli.
11 And there were seventy men out of the elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah, the son of Shaphan, standing in their midst, and they stood before the pictures. And each one had a censer in his hand. And a cloud of smoke rose up from the incense.
Pea tutuʻu ʻi honau ʻao ʻae kau tangata ʻe toko fitungofulu ʻi he kau mātuʻa ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli, pea ʻi honau haʻohaʻonga naʻe tuʻu ai ʻa Sesania ko e foha ʻo Safani, pea taki taha ʻae tangata ʻene ʻaiʻanga afi ʻi hono nima; pea naʻe ʻalu hake ʻae ʻao matolu ʻoe meʻa namu kakala.
12 And he said to me: “Certainly, son of man, you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each one while hidden in his chamber. For they say: ‘The Lord does not see us. The Lord has forsaken the earth.’”
Pea naʻa ne toki pehē kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, kuo ke mamata ki he meʻa ʻoku fai ʻe he kau mātuʻa ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻe he tangata taki taha kotoa pē ʻi he ʻana ʻo ʻene meʻa fakatātā? He ʻoku nau pehē, ‘ʻOku ʻikai mamata ʻa Sihova kiate kitautolu; kuo siʻaki ʻe he ʻOtua ʻa māmani.’”
13 And he said to me: “If you turn again, you will see even greater abominations, which these ones are committing.”
Naʻa ne pehē foki kiate au, “Toe tangaki hake koe, pea te ke mamata ki heʻenau fai ʻae ngaahi fakalielia ʻoku lahi hake.”
14 And he led me in through the door of the gate of the Lord’s house, which looked toward the north. And behold, women were sitting there, mourning for Adonis.
Pea naʻe toki ʻave au ki he matapā ʻoe hūʻanga ki he fale ʻo Sihova ʻaia naʻe tuʻu ki he tokelau: pea vakai, naʻe nofo ai ʻae kau fefine ʻoku tangi koeʻuhi ko Temuse.
15 And he said to me: “Certainly, son of man, you have seen. But if you turn again, you will see even greater abominations than these.”
Pea naʻa ne pehē kiate au, “Kuo ke mamata ʻa eni, ʻe foha ʻoe tangata? Toe tangaki hake pea te ke sio ki he ngaahi fakalielia ʻoku lahi hake ʻi he meʻa ni.”
16 And he led me into the inner atrium of the house of the Lord. And behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the vestibule and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east. And they were adoring toward the rising of the Sun.
Pea naʻa ne ʻomi au ki he lotoʻā ki loto, ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova, pea vakai, naʻe ʻi he matapā ʻoe falelotu lahi ʻo Sihova ʻi he vahaʻa ʻoe hūʻanga mo e feilaulauʻanga ʻae kau tangata ʻe toko uofulu ma toko nima naʻe fulituʻa ki he falelotu lahi ʻo Sihova, kae hanga honau mata ki he potu hahake; pea naʻa nau hū ki he laʻā ki he potu hahake.
17 And he said to me: “Certainly, son of man, you have seen. Can this be so trivial to the house of Judah, when they commit these abominations, just as they have committed here, that, having filled the earth with iniquity, they now turn to provoke me? And behold, they are applying a branch to their nose.
Pea naʻa ne pehē ai kiate au, “Kuo ke mamata ki he meʻa ni, ʻe foha ʻoe tangata? Ko e meʻa maʻamaʻa koā ki he fale ʻo Siuta ke nau fai ʻae ngaahi fakalielia ʻoku nau fai ʻi heni? He kuo nau fakafonu ʻae fonua ʻi he fakamālohi, mo nau tafoki ke fakatupu ʻeku houhau: pea vakai ʻoku nau ʻai ʻae vaʻa ki honau ihu.
18 Therefore, I also will act toward them in my fury. My eye will not be lenient, nor will I take pity. And when they will have cried out to my ears with a loud voice, I will not heed them.”
Ko ia foki te u ngāueʻaki ʻeau ʻae houhau lahi: ʻe ʻikai mamae ʻa hoku mata, pea ʻe ʻikai te u manavaʻofa: pea neongo ʻenau tangi ʻi hoku telinga ʻi he leʻo lahi, ʻe ʻikai te u fanongo kiate kinautolu.”
