Ezekiel 30

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:

2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God: Wail: ‘Woe, woe to the day!’

Fils d’un homme, prophétise, et dis: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Hurlez, malheur, malheur au jour;

3 For the day is near, and the day of the Lord is approaching! It is a day of gloom; it will be the time of the Gentiles.

Car le jour est près, et il approche, le jour du Seigneur, jour de nuage; ce sera le temps des nations.

4 And the sword will come to Egypt. And there will be dread in Ethiopia, when the wounded will have fallen in Egypt, and its multitude will have been taken away, and its foundations will have been destroyed.

Et viendra un glaive sur l’Egypte; et la frayeur sera dans l’Ethiopie, lorsque tomberont les blessés en Egypte; quand sa multitude sera enlevée, et que ses fondements seront détruits.

5 Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the rest of the common people, and Chub, and the sons of the land of the covenant, will fall with them by the sword.

L’Ethiopie, et la Libye, et la Lydie, et tout le reste des peuples, et Chub, et les fils de la terre de l’alliance avec eux, sous le glaive tomberont.

6 Thus says the Lord God: And those who prop up Egypt will fall, and the arrogance of its reign will be brought down. They will fall in it by the sword, before the tower of Syene, says the Lord, the God of hosts.

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Et ils tomberont, ceux qui soutenaient l’Egypte, et l’orgueil de son empire sera détruit; depuis la tour de Syène, ils tomberont par l’épée, dit le Seigneur Dieu des armées;

7 And they will be scattered into the midst of desolate lands, and its cities will be in the midst of cities that have been deserted.

Et ils seront dispersés au milieu des terres désolées, et ses villes seront entre les cités désertes.

8 And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have brought a fire into Egypt, and when all its helpers will have been worn away.

Et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur, lorsque j’aurai mis le feu dans l’Egypte et qu’auront été brisés tous ses auxiliaires.

9 In that day, messengers will go forth from my face in Greek warships, in order to crush the confidence of Ethiopia. And there will be dread among them in the day of Egypt; for without doubt, it will happen.

En ce jour-là, sortiront de devant ma face des messagers sur des trirèmes, pour détruire la confiance de l’Ethiopie; et la frayeur sera sur eux au jour de l’Egypte, parce que sans aucun doute ce jour viendra.

10 Thus says the Lord God: By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, I will cause the multitude of Egypt to cease.

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: J’anéantirai la multitude de l’Egypte par la main de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone.

11 He, and his people with him, the strongest of the Gentiles, will be brought forth in order to destroy the land. And they will draw their swords over Egypt. And they will fill the land with the slain.

Lui et son peuple avec lui, les plus puissants des nations seront amenés pour détruire le pays; ils tireront leurs glaives contre l’Egypte, et ils rempliront la terre de tués.

12 And I will cause the channels of the rivers to dry up. And I will deliver the land into the hand of the most wicked. And by the hands of foreigners, I will utterly destroy the land and its plenitude. I, the Lord, have spoken.

Et je mettrai à sec les lits des fleuves, et je livrerai le pays entre les mains des plus méchants; je détruirai le pays et sa plénitude, par la main des étrangers; c’est moi le Seigneur, qui ai parlé.

13 Thus says the Lord God: And I will destroy the graven images, and I will cause the idols of Memphis to cease. And there will no longer be a commander of the land of Egypt. And I will send terror upon the land of Egypt.

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Et j’exterminerai les simulacres, et j’anéantirai les idoles de Memphis; il n’y aura plus de prince du pays d’Egypte; et je porterai la terreur dans la terre d’Egypte.

14 And I will destroy the land of Pathros, and I will send a fire upon Tahpanhes, and I will execute judgments in Alexandria.

Je perdrai entièrement la terre de Phathurès, et je mettrai le feu dans Taphnis, et j’exercerai des jugements dans Alexandrie.

15 And I will pour out my indignation upon Pelusium, the strength of Egypt, and I will kill the multitude of Alexandria.

Et je répandrai mon indignation sur Péluse, la force de l’Egypte; je perdrai la multitude d’Alexandrie,

16 And I will send a fire upon Egypt. Pelusium will be in pain, like a woman giving birth. And Alexandria will be utterly destroyed. And in Memphis, there will be anguish every day.

Et je mettrai le feu dans l’Egypte; comme une femme en travail, Péluse sera dans les douleurs; Alexandrie sera ravagée et dans Memphis seront des angoisses continuelles.

17 The young men of Heliopolis and Pibeseth will fall by the sword, and the young women will be led into captivity.

Les jeunes hommes d’Héliopolis et de Bubaste tomberont sous le glaive, et les femmes elles-mêmes seront emmenées captives.

18 And in Tahpanhes, the day will grow black, when, in that place, I will break the scepters of Egypt. And the arrogance of her authority will fail within her; a gloom will cover her. Then her daughters will be led into captivity.

Et à Taphnis s’obscurcira le jour, lorsque j’y briserai les sceptres de l’Egypte, et que l’orgueil de sa puissance s’y évanouira: un nuage la couvrira elle-même, mais ses filles seront emmenées en captivité.

19 And I will execute judgments in Egypt. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”

Et j’exercerai des jugements en Egypte; et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur.

20 And it happened that, in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

Et il arriva en la onzième année, au premier mois, au septième jour du mois, que la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:

21 “Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And behold, it has not been wrapped, so that it might be restored to health; it has not been bound with cloths, or bandaged with linen, so that, having recovered strength, it would be able to hold the sword.

Fils d’un homme, j’ai brisé le bras de Pharaon, roi d’Egypte; et voilà qu’il n’a pas été enveloppé, de manière que la guérison lui fût rendue; qu’il fût lié avec des compresses, et qu’il fût entouré de linges, afin qu’ayant repris sa force, il pût tenir un glaive.

22 Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and I will shatter his strong arm, which has already been broken. And I will cast the sword away from his hand.

C’est pourquoi voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Voilà que moi je viens vers Pharaon, roi d’Egypte; et je mettrai en pièces son bras fort, mais brisé; et je ferai tomber le glaive de sa main;

23 And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands.

Et je disperserai les Egyptiens parmi les nations, et je les jetterai au vent dans les divers pays.

24 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And I will put my sword into his hand. And I will break the arms of Pharaoh. And they will groan acutely, when they are slain before his face.

Et je fortifierai le bras du roi de Babylone, et je mettrai mon glaive dans sa main, et je briserai les bras de Pharaon, et les siens pousseront de grands gémissements, étant tués devant sa face.

25 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And the arms of Pharaoh will fall. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have given my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and when he will have extended it over the land of Egypt.

Et je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone, et les bras de Pharaon tomberont; et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur, lorsque j’aurai mis mon glaive dans la main du roi de Babylone, et qu’il l’aura étendu sur la terre d’Egypte.

26 And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”

Et je disperserai les Egyptiens parmi les nations, je les jetterai au vent dans les divers pays; et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur.
