Ephesians 5
1 Therefore, as most beloved sons, be imitators of God.
然れば汝等至愛なる小兒の如く神に倣う者となり、
2 And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and delivered himself for us, as an oblation and a sacrifice to God, with a fragrance of sweetness.
又愛の中に歩みて、キリストも我等を愛し、我等の為に己を馨しき香の献物とし、犠牲として神に捧げ給ひしが如くにせよ。
3 But let not any kind of fornication, or impurity, or rapacity so much as be named among you, just as is worthy of the saints,
私通及び凡ての淫亂貪欲は、其名すらも汝等の中に稱へらるべからざること、聖徒たる者に相應しかるべし。
4 nor any indecent, or foolish, or abusive talk, for this is without purpose; but instead, give thanks.
或は汚行、愚なる談話、惡き戯言、是皆相應しからず、寧感謝すべきなり。
5 For know and understand this: no one who is a fornicator, or lustful, or rapacious (for these are a kind of service to idols) holds an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
汝等覚りて知らざるべからず、凡ての私通者、淫亂者、貪欲者は、偶像を崇拝するに等しき者にして、キリスト及び神の國に於て世嗣たらざるなり。
6 Let no one seduce you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God was sent upon the sons of unbelief.
誰も空言を以て汝等を欺くべからず、其は是等の事の為に、神御怒は不信の子等の上に降ればなり。
7 Therefore, do not choose to become participants with them.
故に汝等彼等に與する事勿れ。
8 For you were darkness, in times past, but now you are light, in the Lord. So then, walk as sons of the light.
蓋汝等曾ては暗黒なりしかど、今は主に在りて光なり、光の子の如くに歩め。
9 For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and justice and truth,
光の結ぶ果は、凡ての慈愛と正義と眞實とに在り。
10 affirming what is well-pleasing to God.
如何なる事の神の御意に適ふかを試し看よ。
11 And so, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead, refute them.
且果を結ばざる暗黒の業に與する事なく、寧却て之を咎めよ。
12 For the things that are done by them in secret are shameful, even to mention.
蓋彼等の窃に行ふ所は、之を口にするすら耻なり。
13 But all things that are disputed are made manifest by the light. For all that is made manifest is light.
凡ての咎むべき事は光によりて顕る、凡て顕るるは光なればなり。
14 Because of this, it is said: “You who are sleeping: awaken, and rise up from the dead, and so shall the Christ enlighten you.”
是故に言へる事あり、「眠れる人よ起て、死者の中より立上れ、キリスト汝を照らし給はん」と。
15 And so, brothers, see to it that you walk cautiously, not like the foolish,
然れば兄弟等よ、如何に慎みて歩むべきかに心せよ。愚者の如くにせず、
16 but like the wise: atoning for this age, because this is an evil time.
智者の如くに歩みて、日惡しければ良き機會を求めよ、
17 For this reason, do not choose to be imprudent. Instead, understand what is the will of God.
是故に神の御旨の如何を覚りて、思慮なき者と成る事勿れ。
18 And do not choose to be inebriated by wine, for this is self-indulgence. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
又酒に酔ふ事勿れ、其中に淫亂あるなり。寧ろ（聖）霊に満たされて、
19 speaking among yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual canticles, singing and reciting psalms to the Lord in your hearts,
霊的の詩と讃美歌と歌とを以て語合ひ、又心の中に謳ひて主を讃美し奉り、
20 giving thanks always for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God the Father.
常に我主イエズス、キリストの御名を以て、萬事に就きて父にて在す神に感謝し、
21 Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
キリストを畏れ奉りつつ互に歸服せよ。
22 Wives should be submissive to their husbands, as to the Lord.
第三項 家庭に於る信者の義務 妻たる者は己が夫に從ふ事、主に於るが如くにすべし、
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church. He is the Savior of his body.
其は夫が妻の頭たる事、キリストが教會の頭にして、自ら其體の救主に在せるが如くなればなり、
24 Therefore, just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also should wives be subject to their husbands in all things.
然れば教會のキリストに從ふが如く、妻も亦萬事夫に從ふべし。
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and handed himself over for her,
夫たる者よ、汝等の妻を愛する事、キリストも教會を愛して、之が為に己を付し給ひしが如くにせよ、
26 so that he might sanctify her, washing her clean by water and the Word of life,
己を付し給ひしは、（生命の）言により、水洗にて之を潔めて聖とならしめん為、
27 so that he might offer her to himself as a glorious Church, not having any spot or wrinkle or any such thing, so that she would be holy and immaculate.
光榮ある教會、即ち染なく、皺なく、然る類の事もなき教會を、自ら己が為に備へて、之をして聖なるもの、汚なきものたらしめん為なり。
28 So, too, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
斯の如く、夫たるものも亦己が妻を我身として愛すべきなり、妻を愛する人は是己を愛する者なり。
29 For no man has ever hated his own flesh, but instead he nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ also does to the Church.
蓋曾て如何なる人も、己が肉身を嫌ひし事なく、却て之を養ひ守る事、猶キリストが教會に為し給ひしが如し、
30 For we are a part of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.
其は我等は其御體の肢にして、其肉より其骨より成りたればなり。
31 “For this reason, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife; and the two shall be as one flesh.”
故に人は父母を措きて己が妻に添ひ、而して二人一體と成るべし、
32 This is a great Sacrament. And I am speaking in Christ and in the Church.
是大いなる奥義なり、我はキリスト及び教會に就きて之を言ふ。
33 Yet truly, each and every one of you should love his wife as himself. And a wife should fear her husband.
然れば汝等も各己が妻を己として愛し、又妻は夫を畏敬すべし。
