Ecclesiastes 3
1 All things have their time, and all things under heaven continue during their interval.
Todo tiene su tiempo. Todo lo que se quiere bajo el cielo tiene su hora:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pull up what was planted.
Tiempo de nacer y tiempo de morir. Tiempo de plantar y tiempo de arrancar lo plantado.
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
Tiempo de matar y tiempo de curar. Tiempo de destruir y tiempo de edificar.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
Tiempo de llorar y tiempo de reír. Tiempo de endechar y tiempo de bailar.
5 A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
Tiempo de esparcir piedras y tiempo de reunir piedras. Tiempo de abrazar y tiempo de no abrazar.
6 A time to gain, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.
Tiempo de buscar y tiempo de perder. Tiempo de guardar y tiempo de desechar.
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to be silent, and a time to speak.
Tiempo de romper y tiempo de coser. Tiempo de callar y tiempo de hablar.
8 A time of love, and a time of hatred. A time of war, and a time of peace.
Tiempo de amar y tiempo de aborrecer. Tiempo de guerra y tiempo de paz.
9 What more does a man have from his labor?
¿Qué provecho hay para el trabajador de aquello en lo cual trabaja?
10 I have seen the affliction that God has given to the sons of men, in order that they may be occupied by it.
Vi el trabajo que ʼElohim dio a los hijos de hombres para que se ocupen.
11 He has made all things good in their time, and he has handed over the world to their disputes, so that man may not discover the work which God made from the beginning, even until the end.
Todo lo hizo apropiado en su tiempo, y colocó eternidad en su corazón. Pero el hombre no entiende lo que hizo ʼElohim desde el principio hasta el fin.
12 And I realize that there is nothing better than to rejoice, and to do well in this life.
Sé que nada hay mejor para ellos que gozarse y hacer bien en sus vidas.
13 For this is a gift from God: when each man eats and drinks, and sees the good results of his labor.
También que es don de ʼElohim que todo hombre coma y beba, y vea el bien de toda su labor.
14 I have learned that all the works which God has made continue on, in perpetuity. We are not able to add anything, nor to take anything away, from those things which God has made in order that he may be feared.
Entendí que todo lo que hace ʼElohim es perpetuo. A ello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá. ʼElohim lo hizo así para que los hombres teman ante Él.
15 What has been made, the same continues. What is in the future, has already existed. And God restores what has passed away.
Lo que es, ya fue. Lo que será, ya fue, Y ʼElohim restaura lo que pasó.
16 I saw under the sun: instead of judgment, impiety, and instead of justice, iniquity.
Además vi bajo el sol: En el lugar de la justicia hay impiedad, Y en el lugar de la equidad hay iniquidad.
17 And I said in my heart: “God will judge the just and the impious, and then the time for each matter shall be.”
Y dije en mi corazón: Al justo y al perverso los juzgará ʼElohim. Porque allí hay un tiempo Para todo lo que se quiere y todo lo que se hace.
18 I said in my heart, about the sons of men, that God would test them, and reveal them to be like wild animals.
Me dije con respecto a los hijos de hombres: ʼElohim ciertamente los probó para que ellos vean que solo son como las bestias.
19 For this reason, the passing away of man and of beasts is one, and the condition of both is equal. For as a man dies, so also do they die. All things breathe similarly, and man has nothing more than beast; for all these are subject to vanity.
Porque lo mismo que sucede al hombre sucede a la bestia. Un mismo suceso es: como muere uno, así muere el otro. Todos tienen un mismo aliento. El hombre no tiene ventaja sobre el animal, porque todo es vanidad.
20 And all things continue on to one place; for from the earth they were made, and unto the earth they shall return together.
Todos van a un mismo lugar. Todos proceden del polvo y todos vuelven al polvo.
21 Who knows if the spirit of the sons of Adam ascend upward, and if the spirit of the beasts descend downward?
¿Quién conoce el espíritu de los hijos de hombres? ¿Va él hacia arriba? ¿Y el hálito de la bestia baja a la tierra?
22 And I have discovered nothing to be better than for a man to rejoice in his work: for this is his portion. And who shall add to him, so that he may know the things that will occur after him?
Así vi que nada hay mejor para el hombre que alegrarse en sus obras, porque ésa es su parte. ¿Porque quién lo llevará para que vea lo que ocurrirá después de él?
