< Deuteronomy 8 >
1 “All the commandments which I am entrusting to you this day, take care to observe them diligently, so that you may live and be multiplied, and so that, upon entering, you may possess the land, about which the Lord swore to your fathers.
Lezie anya hụ na i debezuru iwu ndị a niile m nyere gị taa. Ọ bụrụ na i debe ha, ọ bụghị naanị na ị ga-adị ndụ, kama ị ga-amụba, banyekwa inweta ala ahụ Onyenwe anyị kwere nna nna gị ha na nkwa.
2 And you shall remember the entire journey along which the Lord your God led you, for forty years through the desert, to afflict you, and to test you, and to make known the things that were turning in your soul, whether or not you would keep his commandments.
Chetakwa otu Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke gị si duo gị nʼime ọzara iri afọ anọ ndị a niile. O wedara mmụọ gị ala, nwakwaa gị ọnwụnwa ịmata ihe dị gị nʼobi, ịchọpụta ma ị ga-edebekwa iwu ya.
3 He afflicted you with need, and he gave you Manna as your food, which neither you nor your fathers knew, so as to reveal to you that it is not by bread alone that man lives, but by every word that goes forth from the mouth of God.
E, o wedatara mmụọ gị ala mgbe o mere ka ihe oriri kọ gị, mgbe o mere ka i rie mánà, nri ahụ gị na nna gị na-amaghị ihe ọ bụ. O mere nke a igosi gị na izi gị na ọ bụghị naanị achịcha ka mmadụ ga-eji dị ndụ, kama ọ bụ nʼokwu niile nke si nʼọnụ Onyenwe anyị pụta.
4 Your garment, with which you were covered, has by no means decayed due to age, and your foot has not been worn down, even to this fortieth year,
Iri afọ anọ ndị a niile, uwe gị akaghị nka, ụkwụ gị azakwaghị aza.
5 so that you would recognize in your heart that, just as a man educates his son, so has the Lord your God educated you.
Nʼihi ya, mata nke a nʼobi gị, na dịka nna si adọ nwa ya aka na ntị, otu a ka Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke gị si adọ gị aka na ntị.
6 So may you keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and walk in his ways, and fear him.
Debe iwu Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị. Na-ejegharị ije nʼụzọ ya, ma na-atụkwa ya egwu.
7 For the Lord your God will lead you into a good land: a land of brooks and waters and fountains, in which deep rivers burst forth from its plains and mountains,
Nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị na-ewebata gị nʼala mara mma, bụ ala nwere iyi, na ọdọ mmiri, ala nwere mmiri nke si nʼime ya na-asọpụta asọgharị nʼugwu na ndagwurugwu,
8 a land of crops, barley, and vineyards, in which fig and pomegranate and olive trees spring up, a land of oil and honey.
ọ bụ ala na-epu ọka wiiti na ọka balị, na osisi vaịnị, na osisi fiig, na osisi pomegranet, na mmanụ oliv, na mmanụ aṅụ.
9 In that place, without any need, you shall eat your bread and enjoy an abundance of all things: where the stones are like iron, and where ore for brass is dug out of its mountains.
Ọ bụkwa ala jupụtara nʼihe oriri, ebe a na-agaghị enwe ụkọ nri. Ọ bụ ala ebe igwe jupụtara nʼime ya dị ka ha bụ nkume, ala ebe ọla jupụtakwara nʼugwu ya niile.
10 So then, when you have eaten and been satisfied, you should bless the Lord your God for the excellent land which he has given to you.
Mgbe i riri rijuo afọ, too Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị nʼihi ala mara mma nke o nyere gị.
11 Be observant and cautious, lest at some time you may forget the Lord your God, and neglect his commandments, as well as the judgments and ceremonies, which I instruct to you this day.
Ma lezie anya ka ị ghara ichefu Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị, na-edebeghị iwu ya niile, na ikpe ya niile, na ụkpụrụ ya niile, nke m na-enye gị taa.
12 Otherwise, after you have eaten and been satisfied, and have built beautiful houses and have lived in them,
Ka ọ ghara ị bụ, mgbe i riri rijuru afọ, mgbe i wuuru onwe gị ezi ụlọ dị mma birikwa nʼime ha,
13 and have obtained herds of oxen, and flocks of sheep, and a plentitude of gold and silver and all things,
mgbe igwe ehi na igwe atụrụ gị mụbara, mgbe ọlaọcha na ọlaedo gị mụbara, na mgbe ihe niile i nwere mụbara.
14 your heart might be lifted up, and you might not remember the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude,
Kpachara anya hụ na nganga abanyeghị gị nʼobi, ime ka i chefuo Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị onye mere ka ị site nʼIjipt, sitekwa nʼala ịbụ ohu pụta.
15 and who was your leader in the great and terrible wilderness, in which there was the serpent with a burning breath, and the scorpion, and the snake of thirst, and no waters at all. He led streams out of the hardest rock,
Onye duuru gị nʼime ọzara ukwu ahụ dị egwu, ebe agwọ ọjọọ na akpị jupụtara, ebe na-ekpo ọkụ, nke mmiri na-adịghị. O sitere na nkume nye gị mmiri ọṅụṅụ
16 and he nourished you in the wilderness with Manna, which your fathers had not known. And after he had afflicted and tested you, in the very end, he took pity on you.
O ji mánà nyejuo gị afọ nʼọzara, mánà ahụ nna gị ha na-amaghị ihe ọ bụ na mbụ. O mere ya nʼihi iweda mmụọ gị ala, na ịnwale gị, ka ihe si otu a gaara gị nke ọma.
17 Otherwise, you might say in your heart: ‘My own strength, and the power of my own hand, have brought forth all these things for me.’
I nwere ike kwuo sị, “Ọ bụ site nʼike aka m ka m ji baa ụba.”
18 But remember the Lord your God, that he himself has provided you with strength, so that he may fulfill his covenant, about which he swore to your fathers, just as the present day reveals.
Ma cheta Onyenwe anyị Chineke gị, nʼihi na ọ bụ ya onwe ya na-enye gị ike i ji akpata akụ, ime ka ọgbụgba ndụ ya guzosie ike, bụ nke ọ ṅụrụ nna nna gị ha nʼiyi, dịka ọ dị taa.
19 But if you forget the Lord your God, so that you follow foreign gods, and serve and adore them: behold, I now foretell to you that you shall utterly perish.
Ma ọ bụrụ na i chefuo Onyenwe anyị bụ Chineke gị, gbasoo chi ndị ọzọ, fee ha ofufe ma kpọọkwa isiala nye ha, ana m agba ama megide gị taa na ị ghaghị ịla nʼiyi.
20 Just like the nations, which the Lord destroyed upon your arrival, so shall you also perish, if you have been disobedient to the voice of the Lord your God.”
Ọ bụrụ na unu egeghị ntị nʼolu Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu, ime ihe ọ chọrọ, ọ ga-ala unu nʼiyi, dịka o si bibie mba ndị a niile dị iche iche ọ na-ebibi nʼihi unu.
